  1. I support the stage DQ for the violation. Simple, no questions. Any other twist would just confuse the wording in the rule book. For the basic shooter he would understand and for the rest of the match would still be shooting the same equipment for what he was equipped for in his declared Division with a slight modification. I relate a lot of my thoughts to racing. If in racing (is what we do with guns) you are caught with equipment not allowed in your class then it is an DQ because it is cheating! Well, because so many 3 gun matches out there have different rules I believe a stage DQ is a fair punishment. let the flaming begin:) Busyhawk...AKA Scott
  2. RS, Just my .02...when we have to replace the legs on the MGM flasher targets, we head down to Home Depot and get water pipe (steel) the appropriate ID. We then cut it to the length we desire. We cut them xtra long as we do pound them into the ground so this won't happen (as often). The steel pipe is more bullet resistant than the thin walled legs the targets come with IMHO. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Busyhawk
  3. Just to throw into the bunch...the weekend after Blue Ridge (17-23 October) is open on the Calendar and I thought I heard that Andy is itching to help with another match:) Meaning Andy and I will help and if you talk to Andy nice enough you can borrow his steel? Just throwing that out there.... Scott ....I wonder if I can delete this before Andy finds out I volunteered him for this?
  4. Can't wait....one challenging match and a lot of fun to boot! Let's see what Andy has in store this year. I just hope as staff I get an easier stage:) Oh, and I am praying for good weather. Busyhawk
  5. I can't see what twist barrels these are...
  6. What I want to know is: Is there a possibility for the stage staff to shoot the side matches? So many cool guns to shoot and try out. We want to play too! Busyhawk
  7. I'm with ROB01 above...I just want to shoot. Now I do have to pay attention to the rules and will of course abide by them but I don't understand the big problem with Time Plus, I come for the shooting and fun and either scoring will accomplish that. Just another way to score the match, and if you don't like it someone on the wait list will be very happy to take your place!!! Hell, Time plus is exactly how the "Tour De France" is determined...have a bad stage (of 21 stages) and it will hurt as well. In the Tour they are looking for the same results don't they? In the Tour of course if you suck at the Mountains, flats, TTs or whatever stages it will reflect in your placing at the end just like Multigun. Of course I am not advocating French scoring Now I do like 100 points per stage because I relate to my other sport, Motocross (even though I believe I would get a better placement with Time Plus). Each moto is worth maximum points per moto and at the end if the points are the same after 2 motos, placement in the final moto is the over-riding factor. Just my .02 and thank you to bringing this to my attention as to what scoring system we are going to use at this match...even though either way I will have fun! Busyhawk
  8. Damn...But our Union prohibits it if you are not qualified... We insist on 2 shots or you get a FTE and a 30 second for Failure to Spin. We put the spinner for pistol at a safe distance of ~8 yards so minor pistol ammo doesn't hold you at to bad of a disadvantage and 12 yards for the SG. The target is a very good target but if you have not shot it before you might be in for a rude lesson. Using it as a practice target for rifle is fun...and our match spinner for rifle is at a minimum distance of 100 yards. It is a very good skill builder IMHO. #6 or smaller and no PStorm ammo. Hope this helps...
  9. Benelli Chick, Thank you just doesn't seem like enough but the whole HAWKINS FAM-DAMNLY wants to thank you for putting us to work! I guess the saying: "The punishment will continue until morale improves" is in effect. What a long shoot for some of us, we arrived to the Shooting Center on the 29th and left on the 11th in the wee morning. Arriving to Andy Horners house in Montrose, CO. which is at over 8,000 feet to help us get used to the altitude I guess helped...I didn't get sick or have any headaches. And one last thank you for putting us on an easier stage than last year...that was a blessing. Stage 1 this year was a walk in the park compared to last years stage:) We will miss you next year but will return in 2016 for sure. Keep the lights on for us, Sincerely, Busyhawk AKA Sergeant Major
  10. As soon as we get home we will start working on water-marking the photos and will post a link for all to see. One of our shooters is a computer guy and does all the work hosting and posting to the web...I know I am not a smart man.... My best guess is the photos will be posted late next week. Thank you again for all the kind words and words of encouragement as we surely don't do this for the money! Sincerely, Busyhawk AKA Sergeant Major or Scott
  11. Travis Gibson hurt himself (old back injury) at the MGM Iron Man. So to follow Dr.'s orders he will regretfully have to cancel both the LR rifle class and the LR rifle match. He is going to try to shoot our match but he is pressing the Dr.'s orders. Speedy recovery Travis, our thoughts and prayers for you and Tracy. Busyhawk
  12. Here you go all shooters...that are not already registered...the link to register for the 2014 Colt and Colt Competition Northwest Multigun Challenge: https://clubs.practiscore.com/2014-colt-and-colt-competition-northwest-multigun-challenge/register After you submit we will go over all the information and send you a confirmation on your registration. If all is OK you still need to send the funds (Check is fine) to: NWMGC C/O Scott Hawkins 140 E Spencer Ridge Place Shelton, WA 98584-8820 Once the funds are received you will get a message/link to self squad. Hope to see you by at least July! Busyhawk
  13. Well, here we go again. Thanks again to Colt www.colt.com and Colt Competition www.coltcompetitionrifle.com for stepping up and committing early to being the headliners! Leupold www.leupold.com has also committed to being a Platinum sponsor....All these companies are going over the top and are putting their names on the forefront of our sport. Please don't forget these great companies when you purchase that next firearm or glass!!!!!!! Yesterday the first wave of invitations went out to returning competitors and in 7 hours we have over 70 registered via Practiscore www.practiscore.com! If for some reason you have shot our match before and didn't get an invite via Email please contact us through our website: http://nwmultigun.com. We will open the new shooter invites on the 1st of January. We will post the practiscore link here on B.E. and our webpage. After you fill out the Practiscore form online you will get a return Email confirming what you submitted. If all is OK then there is nothing to do but send the funds to the listed address. When we get the funds you will get another Email with a link to self squad. We are going to try something new this year, the AM squad will shoot 4 stages in a row and the PM squad will shoot 3. This will leave the last day (Saturday) of shooting with all shooters shooting 2 stages and will save us about 3 hours of day light and get the awards presentation started earlier, hence finish the match earlier in the light of day:) We have some special COFs designed again for 2014...we were told (by the shooters) to keep the same mix and balance of all three guns as well as some medium/long range rifle on every stage. Our longest range will not be over ~350 yards. We will be mixing some slugs on a couple of stages this year and we also decided to change the rules some so if you shoot a KO plate with a slug it is not a DQ...common sense prevails. This is a shooters match...meaning the shooters are steering the course of the match. We take all suggestions to heart. If you wish to sponsor please contact Scott via the address on our website. Ask any of our past sponsors, we take care of all sponsors very well. We try to provide marketing for your generous contribution to the prize table. If there is anything you wish to include into the match please contact us and we will talk it out. We have a vendor tent and the ability for shooters/vendors to shoot early or we can make other arrangements somehow. That is all for now...will be making updates as we go. Merry Christmas to all! 2014 Colt and Colt Competition Northwest Multigun Challenge Busyhawk
  14. Mr. Payne is correct...8 in the shotgun when there is a empty chamber start. What a bunch of gamers:) I know Andy is still packing for the match and I leave tomorrow early AM to hit the road to be there by the 8th. Yes, it does take that much time to set the match up. Hope to see everyone there soon! Busyhawk
  15. I didn't vote as I don't believe it was worded correctly. I just have to add my .02. We are again talking a local club match and time is of no real issue. If the shooter has a squib then let him continue on with his stage unless that was his last firearm for the stage and just score him as shot! If the shooter wants to shoot it just as practice then let him but not for score. Even at local club matches we all want to see how we stack up with all others at the match. This way the shooter will get used to making the decision on the clock and work out the problems just like a big boy match. I had the same type of thing at a local USPSA match and when the buzzer went off at our very first stage of the day I attempted to shoot but the pistol didn't work...I didn't get one shot off. Well I told him I was finished and went and fixed the problem and asked to shoot the stage when everyone was finished just for fun...I was told I could not. It was raining and I promptly loaded my bag and went home...no brainier for me! If our shooters have 2 squibs we make it mandatory that the shooter changes ammo...most other shooters are very accommodating in making this happen. Good thread start... Scott
  16. Guys, took a while but here they are... First 1000 pictures are here: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=102717200088393757360&target=ALBUM&id=5911802537708898865&authkey=Gv1sRgCK6uhJGRzMyXJg&feat=email Last 401 pictures are here: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=102717200088393757360&target=ALBUM&id=5911822167826611953&authkey=Gv1sRgCNC__qe728WSxgE&feat=email The pictures are view able to anyone with the links above (but otherwise not "public"). No, I couldn't get everyone but perhaps we can be better next year? If you have any other photos of the match please forward them to me if you want them published... Respectfully, Busyhawk
  17. Jesse, I going to watch you closer now:) Agree, NOT a DQable offense. I guess I always go back to the safety is on unless you are shouldered and ready to fire, but those military days are still with me. Busyhawk
  18. This is a fun match...I am trying to make it again this year on my way home from Blue Ridge! Please join in if you can. Busyhawk
  19. This match is coming up fast and I can't wait! I just hope to be 95%ish instead of fighting an infection I got at JPRM3G. Long days and little sleep made me weak I guess. I do like working matches I am not responsible for:) See you soon Andy. Busyhawk
  20. Damn it, why did so many people like the match? We will have to do something worse next year! I was so hoping to get fired but Doug was quick to point out that slaves can't be fired. Thank you to all that replied to the After Action Questioner that we sent out...we are in the process of figuring out what road to take on a couple of the questions but most is very clear. Almost all want to get done earlier but to do that we are looking at only 10 person squads max and having a 4 stages in the AM for the first 2 days and then all squads will have to shoot 2 stages on the 3rd day instead of 3. I have to look at the RO side of it too! It was easier on the ROs this way and they got off at a decent time of day every day to enjoy the surroundings too. If you have not figured out we have a soft spot for our ROs/Staff! We have yet to get an answer from COSSA about the 2014 dates but expect an answer any time. Both Doug and I just returned from the JPRM3G and are in the process of still licking wounds and catching up on things. Thank you again for all the kind words and the support all have supported us with...since this is why we do it, it speaks volumes. Pictures will be up very soon (over 1,300) and look either here or at our website for updates. Long live Multigun.... Sincerely, Busyhawk
  21. You are all so right! It is not something you win/a contest! I would like to know what MOH recipients you will have at the match...Not much of a commemoration if there is not one there. Honor them in appropriate manor...not just words! Having a fund raising for a certain MOH recipient would be in order! Busyhawk
  22. Just a short note to thank all that helped support our match this year. From the dedicated ROs and set up crew to the shooters that made it happen. Our sponsors went what I thought was over the top and really took care of the shooters. Somehow we pulled off yet another fun and challenging match. Colt and Colt Competition said yesterday that they will be the main headliners again The dates are in the hands of the COSSA Range for their approval (10-12 July 2014) and we expect to have an answer very soon as they were very pleased with our Safety, cleanliness when we left the range and our attention to detail. Questioners will go out tomorrow to all that were involved and I anticipate hearing from "all" to get a new focus on what was done right/wrong and how we can improve next year...even though I don't want to even think about next year. Please tell me the Co-Match Directors and Range Masters need to be replaced...Please . Respectfully, Busyhawk
  23. Thank you KurtM and BC...I am really feeling the love JJ, Pink belly shirts...BARF! I am really worried of what is coming out of CO! Busyhawk
  24. Just in case anyone is wondering...We will not have a Mulligan for the NWMGC...the shooters have spoken and they are the customers. I think I could use a group (all female) hug:) Busyhawk
  25. Stlhead, Kinda my thoughts too...just adds another thought process to the "GAME" but it seems that most think this is a Championship Match! I just want to put on a fun and challenging match that other people like too. I was shot down with a random prize table so the table is by order of finish this year and the majority of our shooters wanted the match fees to go up so we can put on a better match (Vendor Tent, food at the Prize Table and buy some more goods from vendors for the table). I guess my thought process is all messed up. I would still shoot if there wasn't a prize table! I still have a passion for this Multigun stuff but am slowly loosing my passion as time goes on. Scott
