CSEMARTIN
I went to the Up North Classic this past weekend, and a friend of mind started making fun of me for naming my guns! My feelings are hurt!!! Doesn't everyone know that guns have their own personality, and therefore, deserve a name? My avatar is a picture of Larry- Mr. Dependable (most of the time). My backup gun is named NIGHTTRAIN, and he makes special appearances at major matches. That's the only time Larry gets pissed at me and stops running. My third CDP gun has a nasty temperment, and I haven't come up with an appropriate name as of yet.

j1b
Ummm . . . yeah . . . uhhhhh . . . Nope - have no idea what you're talking about. Of course I'm not good with names so maybe that's it J
revchuck
Oddly enough, the only guns I've named are my two 1911s, and they're more titles than names. My Commander is called "The Commander from Hell", due to all the problems I've had with it; my Gubmint Model is "The Cajun .45", because it'll eat anything. scirocco38s
No, I dont name them, but I do have an SVI that is 10+ yrs old and is named Marilyn. It is engraved in the slide very professionally with a font that is used for wedding reception and invitation cards. It is an old Garcia frame from when Frank shot SVI's. The frame has the cuts in it that are now called excellerator cuts. It was built for her by her husbandand that is engraved on the bottom of the frame with the date it was done. The entire gun was then hard chromed and looks very nice. There is a long story about the gun and the couple but it gets way to soap opera. The gun runs really well but if it gives me any trouble, well it is named after a woman so guess what I call it.

Flatland Shooter
A while back I nicknamed my open gun "JAM-A-MATIC". Had to name it something or I was afraid that in public I might call it something I was really thinking at the time. (You know, "that *^#@*^@#$ no good *^*$#$@*") Even tried to find someone that would engrave "JAM-A-MATIC" on the slide. After a lot of tuning, she has finally redeemed herself. One a blue benchrest rifle that took nine months to have built......hence named Baby Viagra. 9 months, blue and it makes my weiner hard. The second a savage .308 named Charlene after the rifle in full metal jacket. IE

MichiganShootist
Sorry I hurt your feeling Chris... I was just watching the expressions on some of the other shooter's faces at the match......as you yacked about how well Larry had been doing of late and that you hoped you wouldn't have to fall back on Night-train. Honestly.... When they figured out you were talking about 1911s......I though a couple were going to excuse themselves from the range just to go get a net At least you were able to come up with a name for the new "kid" in you shooting bag after the match. How is J. D. (as in Jack Daniels) doing???
