  1. Thanks for the additional info on this. This is not a competition piece, but my wife likes it and making sure it works for her keeps me out of trouble!
  2. Yes it is the extractor rod. and it is a reverse thread
  3. I agree with the above post. I purchased mine for my SBR so I wouldnt have to deal with a mag block. But so far they have worked reliably. I wouldnt use them in competition for sure.
  4. I shoot a SPR profile barrel, I held point of impact/aim very well. same barrel cut to a lightweight profile shifts impact as it gets hot. First 10 or 12 rounds would print nicely, and as long as you gave the barrel time to cool down then it was fine, If you shot it and got it hot then it would shift up and to the right about 2 inches at 200yds. I only use that upper now when shooting with my brother as we dont shoot as much or as fast as when I shoot with others., I cannot talk about other barrels But these were Douglas barrels turned by compass lake.
  5. I traded for a S&W 686.. Nice gun. But I have noticed the cylinder pin keeps loosening. This is the first revolver I have owned and need some simple do's and donts for the upkeep of this gun. Is there a special tool for this pin. I dont want to screw this gun up because the wife likes shooting it more than the other guns I have given her. Thanks in advance.
  6. I will interject here. I have owned 8 or 9 SV's and still do own 3. They have all been nothing shy of sewing machine reliable. Everyone I have sold I have made money on and have regretted selling. I still have 3 older Sti's and while they are also good guns they arent SV. I have had several custom guns by big name gunsmith's and shops that we have all heard of and used. George when he ran EGW did excellent work. That beign said, There are no gunsmiths out there that I would use if I could get a SV in the time frame I needed. I have read some of the issues others have had with certain parts and I guess I am lucky as I have an IMM gun that has well over 100k thru it and it still has the orignal fire control parts in it. The only thing I have done is clean it and change springs when necessary. My limited gun has never failed me..it is now going on 15 yrs old(it was my first and I just cant sell it). Are they expensive, yes, are they worth it, yes., SV continues to develope the platform and come up with small enhancements to the gun that others dont even think of.
  7. I never get tired of the use of that piece of video. It has been used more than any other I know and it is always funny. Thermolds..recycled pringles lids...now thats funny.
  8. I dont know why you guys are surprused with the assault of these "reality" shows out there..... Betweeent the real wives of whereever and other stuff like this it is just a sign of the times and the programming being dummed down. people nowdays want petty drama that has absolutely no merit and shows the worst in the human spirit or human nature. It all started with survivor and will only continue to spiral downward
  9. We have no internet access at the range. When the scorekeeper left last night he forgot to import the match off of the range computers into a flashdrive. Therefore he couldnt upload last night and it was an hour drive for him once he found out. So it was decided to get the data first thing this morning. He got the data and made sure things were correct by crosschecking against the scoresheets and then it was uploaded to uspsa. He felt very bad for that sunday night but we were all tired, cold and wet from the rain on sunday. Hell the MD went to give out awards after the hour had passed and almost everyone had left.(It was kind of miserable out) We apologize for the delay, but we was tarred out. On a side note the club is trying to get internet access so this may never be an issue again.
  10. weather was horrible first thing this morning. Those who shot on saturday had a HUGE advantage in traction and just better shooting conditions. The RO's did an excellent job with the situation. Even with all that went wrong today the match was still great. My feet have finally dried out and thawed, so it is off to find another match to compete in A big thank you to all the sponsoors in the match and those who help put it on.
  11. I have also used this scope. For the money, it is a very good value. Performance wise I have no complaints. This scope has made me want to give a vx6 scope a look.
  12. I have 2 knees..both of them hurt!! some days it is the right..others it is the left...and on the really bad days it is both. The recovery time seems to be longer and longer after every match...I guess it is soon to be better living thru chemistry...come on vicodin, the better number upper!! Vicodin really doesnt stop the pain, you just dont care anymore. Although the alternative is the dirt nap so I guess I will bear the pain.
  13. I had no problem with the old power factor, even thought it did tear up equipment that was used heavily.. I also have no problem with the new pf..as it has made my life easier with repairs..but lets not continue to dilute the pool of the competition. If a lower power factor is that big a deal..then maybe one should re-evaluate why they are in open...or limited for that matter.
  14. There is nothing that needs changing in open. It needs to be left alone. If there is to be another division(as if we need it) let it be modified. I would build a gun for that divison, but we need to rethink starting a new division just to satisfy some lower common denominator, and we definetly need to rethink changing division requirement for the same reason.
  15. Stupidest idea I have heard in a year...and I work in hospitals.
  16. It's like last year when Andre lost because he didn't know how to play poker. EXACTLY
  17. Possible..the AMG should launch harder as it is a v8 and has tons of torque, but speed wise they both seem to top out about the same speed, the AMG is speed limited to 155 and the Genesis coupe starts running out of steam around there also. They both have traction control and the autos drive better to me than the manuals. The genesis is using the same transmission as the benz(ZF)and they both have paddle shift if you wish to play. They both have incredible brakes. The Benz feels alot sturdier but it cost twice as much as the Genesis. On the track the amg is incredible, I havent had the Genesis on the track yet. I am looking at a 996tt right now and if it is in good shape I might sell the Genesis and get the 996. I havent regretted the purchase of either car though.
  18. Jon, I purchased a 3.8 track model last july. It has been a blast. It has plenty of power, good interior trim and features. Big brakes and wheels. I purchased the thing fully loaded for 29700.00. I have enjoyed driving it alot, the wife likes it also, not as much as her C55AMG, but she still like to drive it. a 10yr/100k warranty doesnt hurt it either.
  19. when you coming home...buttmonkey

  20. send me an email or pm me and I will talk with you about it. Not in this forum
  21. Feeling good seth?..Happy to see it come together for ya. Hope to see you at the next swgc match/
  22. Just when you think people have too much time on their hands...somebady does this to prove you right. This is incredible. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c23_1276166790 It actually works.
  23. has not set their status

  24. I will chime in here and say that a clean gun is a happy gun. In the world of limited and open guns where we are running things on the edge with light springs and overloaded mags, it doesnt take much to make one become iffy. I clean the topend of my gun after every session without fail, thats where 90% of the dirt and grime will be anyway. I will clean the bottom every 3rd or 4th time I clean the upper,so in effect the gun gets completely clean every2k minimumand every 500 round for the top. I only shoot jacket bullets so I dont worry about the bore, if it starts shooting a big spread then I will look and evealuate. I will say that factory guns with larger value springs 16-19lbs or more are more likely to run when exceessively dirty with fewer issues. I have seen many guns that didnt run or started having issues, get taken down and cleaned and then they were perfectly reliable again. All this being said I will side ithe EBG3 on this and say the cleaner the gun the better it runs. If yours works for you and it is not requiring the cleaning then you have a benefit that others dont. Most open guns though seem to be especially sensitive to being clean.
