Thanks for all the well wishes, I really appreciate the support. I'm four units of blood fuller than I was on Friday - nice & rosey cheeks ;-). If you are looking to send sweets - you can mail to the registration address.

Thanks...

Man Barb that puts new meaning to 'a quart low'!!!!! I think I would blame at least 5lbs of weight gain on that :-) Glad you are feeling better.

I have had traveled United, Delta, Southwest, and Frontier with guns and have not had any serious troubles yet. Frontier was by far the best as the counter personnel were well trained and Frontier has no ammo limit.

Traveling with a pistol and ammo is really not that difficult with any of the airlines. The key is being prepared and having your stuff in order. The pistol must be in a lockable hard case with a lock. I use a simple plastic guncase that also fits inside my normal luggage (out of sight out of mind). Your ammo needs to be either in factory type boxes or the plastic cartridge cases that have a separate hole for each individual cartridge. Generally each airline limits you to 11lbs. of ammo. I know Frontier has no ammo restriction.

When you get to the counter to check in you need to tell the clerk that you need to declare a firearm. At this time they will give you a tag that you sign declaring the weapon to be unloaded, sometimes the clerk will want to see that the weapon is empty (most that ask would never know one way or the other but be cooperative). You then put the signed tag inside the case and lock it. The clerk will then escort you over to the TSA check and you will need to be there until they run your bag in case they have any questions or need into the case.

I usually go to the website of the airline I am flying and read their regs and print myself a copy. I do the same with the TSA regs. This way if there is a question you can show them what there policy is.

Good luck, Craig

Flying to either A2 or SMM3G I've always gone Alaska. No hassles at all. I use TSA locks on everything, inlcuding the gun case(s). So far, no problemo.

A2Chic: My very best wishes to you on your continued recovery. It does put our "sport" into perspective. It's great to hear that you are feeling better though.

A friendly tip to Rio Salado first timers -- make sure you have low light lenses for those early AM starts. The early starts are necessary given the length of the days and it can still be pretty dark on your first stage. You will undoubtedly need much darker lenses once the sun is out; it is a (beautiful) desert afterall! B) Fresh batteries in cmore is always nice too (and an Arrendondo shield).

Same goes for the afternoon. If things run a tad late, sunset comes on pretty quick also.

Later,

Chuck

(HI Barb. Hope you are feeling better!!)
