Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I really want something that's not going to interfere with the brass ejection, no matter what load I'm shooting. I want something more error proof. Pretty much the only small dot to frame mount would be an Aimpoint Micro, and they only come with a 4MOA dot, and they ain't cheap either. I've thought of building a mount to hold a C-More at 90 degrees or upside down, but I'm not sure that I can make one rigid enough that it'll hold a zero and not shudder with every shot. Besides that, carrying the sucker in a holster would be a bit awkward. Perhaps I'm looking for a perfect solution that just doesn't exist. If you shoot with a target focus, you wont notice anything but the dot and the target and the size of the sight is irrelevant since the body itself is out of focus. The weight difference between a Comp XD and a Cmore is negligible as well. Try a comp XD for a little while and you'll never go back to a Cmore. Once again, Think outside the box.
  2. Dont know about the warranties but if your load is that close to the edge, I would look for another that gives some margin for error and would allow you to tune the gun and load for proper ejection. Why switch to a slide ride? There are lots of excellent frame mounted options for dots that will be as good or better in every way. Think outside the box.
  3. Ok, I can buy that, but it just seems like good business sense to make a public announcement to the members concerning all the details that can be given...there still seems to be an intense amount of background grumbling and making any and all information avaliable to the members would just seem to be the thing to do... Not really....The members will grumble regardless Some people just like to make a fuss whenever possible.
  4. Due to the agressive telemarketing they have been doing lately, I am currently enrolled at the "Pissed Off" membership level One year at a time for me....
  5. Is the out of battery ignition due to a fit issue with whatever disconnect mechanism exists in the glock or is this inherent in the design?
  6. Yup....Sounds similiar to my experience with 38super and silhouette. I load supercomp cases, silhouette, 124gr MG JHPS, and win primers to 175+pf and see NO pressure signs so this seemed to be a red flag to be checked out.
  7. Been there, done that with the shooting chronys. Save the time and effort and buy a CED and never have to worry about overcast vs. sunny days. They really are much better behaved.
  8. Can you post a pic of the flattening on the primers for the 7.3 load? I would be wary of a load that is starting to flatten primers at 50F. What happens to the pressure in the summer?
  9. Very Nice. Always wanted one of the Tanfo's to round out the stable of open guns. I shoot aimpoints and always wondered why more folks don't mount their Cmores this way to minimize the bore to dot offset like this to be closer to an Aimpoint setup. It just makes sense
  10. Hmmm....Been RO'ing new shooters regularly at sectionals and locals for a while so there are so many. I am a lowly B shooter so most of my peeves are safety related. 1. What we affectionately call cowboying This is when the muzzle is allowed to point vertically up or straight down to the ground when entering/exiting shooting positions or during other movement. This falls under the category of insufficient muzzle control or awareness. 2. Trigger finger not completely leaving the guard during movement, reloads, etc. If I can't see that it is clear of the trigger, I will assume it is not. 3. Sticking the gun and arms into a port or barrel when it is not neccessary to do so. I see a lot of DQs and broken front sights lately here. 4. Arguing with the RO. I don't think there is ever any reason to argue with an RO on a call. It is uncalled for and the appropriate method to dispute a call is laid out very clearly in the rule book and does NOT include this.
  11. I've got 2 spare Chronys if you want them cheap. Seriously PM me if interested.
  12. Welcome, Randy. USPSA, IDPA, Pins....Try them all.
  13. I always keep some known PF ammo with me when I chrono and run some through as a reference first. I have owned two shooting chronys and a CED. The CED is much more consistent and tracks well with my results at major matches. The Chronys were a constant source of frustration and as a result are sitting on the shelf.
  14. Anyone know how the spring attaches to the follower on this setup? Does it hook into a hole in the follower as on the grams?
  15. No, but they do add some margin for error and all other things being equal I cant imagine anyone wanting to give that up. I also do not see the reason in practicing with a setup that is different than the one I use in matches. My .02 for what it's worth.
