Is Titegroup dirty for you guys?

I've used it for years in 9mm and 45 and its been very clean for me at USPSA minor PF or there abouts.  I know others say its very dirty, but haven't had that experience.  VV320 is cleaner, but much more expensive.

Isn't that load excessive for a 38 short? Hodgdon lists a max load of 2.7 gr titegroup with only a 135 gr bullet. You're using 3 gr titegroup, and a 160 gr head, seems very excessive. Excess pressures, and heat(titegroup burns hot), may be causing some of the lead base to melt/vaporize causing all the fouling.

Depends on the bullets and the pressure.
Works fine for 124 and 115 gr FMJ 9mm loaded up to 132 or so.  Looks like black powder loaded in low pressure 45 acp cast lead loads.

I think this is the key.  Loads in which there is much leftover volume in the case lead to poor combustion.

Bare lead worsens the issue but that's not something anyone should be dealing with in 2021.
