ysrracer
I'm loading 3.0gr of Titegroup behind a 160gr Bayou bullet in .38 Short Colt, and my revolver is FILTHY. Is that what you guys are seeing? Is Clays or Clay Dot any cleaner?
galt11
I've used it for years in 9mm and 45 and its been very clean for me at USPSA minor PF or there abouts. I know others say its very dirty, but haven't had that experience. VV320 is cleaner, but much more expensive. Adam
George16
It was dirty for me also. I switched to Sport Pistol went it came out and it’s a lot cleaner compared to Titegroup.
Joe4d
Depends on the bullets and the pressure. Works fine for 124 and 115 gr FMJ 9mm loaded up to 132 or so. Looks like black powder loaded in low pressure 45 acp cast lead loads.
Kokeman
I used to use it in 9mm and 38 spec. I switched because of the smoke and too dirty.
bun
I've used TG for years on all my reloads 9/40/45 It's dirtier compared to WSF but I clean my guns after I shoot 'em
echotango
I switched from TG to W231. Not only is it a lot cleaner, but also softer. Will never go back to TG. Edited November 2, 2020 by echotango

MikeyScuba
A fellow shooter on our AZ Sunday squad showed me his revo that he shoots w231, quite good imo. We use N320. Very similar on the burn rate and unless I’m mistaken very close in price.
Postal Bob
Isn't that load excessive for a 38 short? Hodgdon lists a max load of 2.7 gr titegroup with only a 135 gr bullet. You're using 3 gr titegroup, and a 160 gr head, seems very excessive. Excess pressures, and heat(titegroup burns hot), may be causing some of the lead base to melt/vaporize causing all the fouling. ysrracer
It's the load I need to make minor. Most guys are running right around there. My gun always chrono's slow.
OptimiStick
yeah. I switched to n320 and sport pistol. Much cleaner, (subjectively) softer.
4n2t0
I love Titegroup, it performs really well and it's extremely versatile. Is it dirty? It can be but I really don't care about cleanliness. Edited November 5, 2020 by 4n2t0

Loads in which there is much leftover volume in the case lead to poor combustion. Bare lead worsens the issue but that's not something anyone should be dealing with in 2021.
