Thoughts? I am interested more in reliability than cramming in the last possible round. I am not worried about the price difference. Finally, it used to be that you bought 3-4 140s and a big stick and then you were set, but now there are 155s. STI gen 2 vs MBX, it seemed like I could save a few dollars with the gen 2’s but I’d have to tinker with them a little to make them run 100%. I knew that my gun would run MBX’s since that’s what was recommended and I borrowed for a little while. Ultimately I decided to go the MBX route because I knew they ran and I haven’t had a single issues with them in the last couple months. As far as what lengths to run, I find myself running a 155 and 170 most often. I have a 140 but after practicing with the 155 on reloads so much the 140 almost feels too short now. Mikeski Posted June 23, 2019 Share Posted June 23, 2019 I keep all MBX in my bag. I've never had any issues with them and they have run right out of the package. No need to tune them. I keep 2 of each size in my bag. 140, 155 and 170. I mostly run just the 170 but if I need to reload I'll run either of the 155 or 140 depending on my mood. Since I've been reloading with the 140's, it's difficult for me to reload my BHP - the mags seem Very Small, even though they hold a whopping 15 rounds. With the trend being all 32 round courses these days I can go several matches and never touch a 170. I just run 140's and find a good reload spot. Up until now, most people I know have said it's slower to reload than 140 mags. I've never tried a 155, so I don't have first hand knowledge. Th3Un4givin Posted June 25, 2019 Share Posted June 25, 2019 @LuvDog @Hi-Power Jack For me it seems like the 155 has just enough to grab onto as well as enough sticking out of the bottom that it walks that balancing line of not too much and not enough really well. Now when I reload with a 140 it almost seems like my palm is flush with the bottom of the mag well. You up should give one a shot, worst case you don’t like it and sell it on here. That being said, I had a 155 go flying off my belt while running and the extra weight and higher center of gravity is a real issue. That’s why I won’t use 170 for reloads. Trick is to maintain correct measurements, change springs yearly, clean mags after each stage, and check the condition of the follower.
