  1. Call Benny Hill in Corpus Christi- former head of STI gunsmithing- 361-241-1091. His company is Triangle Shooting Sports.
  2. Ok, thanks. Dd not see gun club hulls.
  3. Powder, amount, wad type, primer brand?
  4. Since the pistol has popple holes you may need (unless already installed) a blast deflector. This will help keep the optic glass clean.
  5. Does anyone have loads for green Remington gun club 12ga hulls? 1 and 1/8 oz and 1 oz loads? Have a bunch and cannot seem to find data on Hogdon's loading tables site.
  6. I do circuit training Mon-Fri to help with grip strength, muscle tone, etc. Also lighter weights, repetively, to strengthen deltoids, bicepts, etc. Have started barre pilates which helps flexability. At end of workout sit in sauna for about 15 minutes which I believe helps with heat tolerance. At matches when hot, drink at least one bottle of water per stage to prevent dehydration. If very hot also drink some type of electrolyte drink. Found that these procedures help shooting ability.
  7. A 124 grain delta precision or montana gold bullet with about 10.2 or so grains of accurate #7 at about 1390 fps would peobably do it with a 38 super. Mine shoots very flat out to 75, do not know drop at 100 yds. Try it.
  8. In my 38super open gun I use precision delta or montana gold jacked bullets because of the velocity- about 1400fps. Higher velocity does not affect the jacket on these bullets. Also they are accurate at the longer stage distances. For my 40S&W limited gun and 9mm I use coated bullets due to the lower velocity- in the 900's fps-they are also less expensive. If a stage requires a 50+ yard shot I will use a jacketed bullet since I believe they are more accurate at longer ranges. The old adage here- you get what you pay for.
  9. I had one on my 38 super open pistol. Shut down and or blinked randomly after a while. Sent it back to c-more. They replaced the circuit board at no cost and returned it quickly. Problem solved.
  10. Think I will buy at least one since I have three STI pistols that are aging and used heavily. Thanks for the information.
  11. Have you measured the mag dimensions? If not this might be a helpful thing to do.
  12. Try Benny Hill, former head gunsmith at STI International. Benny is in Corpus Christi, TX. He does excellent work. phone 361-241-1091.
  13. Your pic looks like it is corn cobb media blocking the flash from the primer- powder also looks like it contains corn cobb material. Maybe the case was still damp and contained corn cobb media before loading with powder- try drying out the cases for a longer period of time and vigorously shaking the corn cobb media out of the cases when dry.

  15. I would throw it out if it did not come in an "officially labelled " powder container. Too risky even though many powders are hard to get these days. Would not want to blow up my gun using a powder that I could not positively identify.
  16. I would start by measuring the diameter of the gas port- agree with Tony- do not think you are getting enough gas to operate the bolt. Then ck the other suggested items above, especially for a gas obstruction. You may not be getting enough gas! Several years ago after many rounds through the gun my AR-15 suddenly started to not cycle with an aluminum carrier. Sent the carrier to JP who measured various dimensions and was told that I had worn it out- gas was escaping resulting in the gun not cycling. They offered me a replacement or a discount on a SS one.
  17. Be sure to change the rubber gromet and brass washer on the powder side of the charge bar of your MEC every two years or you may experience very light powder drops or no powder drop at all due to shifting of the gromet/bras washer.

Keep both eyes open, but use dominant eye to sight/point- shoot shotgun like a shotgun not a rifle and you will do well.
  19. My old eyes prefer a red dot- eyes do not focus too well with iron sights unfortunately- shot them when I was younger.
  20. You do not need magnum powder charges to shoot from the 27yd line. The only thing that will do is hurt your shoulder and possible disrupt your pattern.
  21. Have shot thousands of v1 with no problem in STI 38 super open gun with no problem. They also work well in my STI Eagle.
  22. Try the staccato P, you will like it for 3 gun, USPSA, and IDPA. They will let you try one at major matches- try the 9mm.
  23. Have been using decot hy-wynd for years shooting trap and skeet- have several different color lenses. Try them you will like them. They have a booth at most major shoots so you can look at the different colors and polarized vs non. Their frames are cool also.
  24. I wore out a JP aluminum light carrier in my 223 after thousands of rounds- thing that tipped me off was that it would run several rounds and the not cycle- loses tolerance. If you are having problems with your JP aluminum carrier call them and they will give you the factory measurements. It is a fantastic carrier and the impulse from recoil is very light- almost like a 22 long rifle. Downside is that they wear out much faster than a steel carrier.
