I have been working on a load for my shadow lately that produces some really low recoil but I think I can do better.

Running a Lee 158gr RN that drops at 162grs.

3.2grs of aa#2

1.15 OAL

135pf I think.

I would like to get a throat reamer and see if I can load this out to 1.130 to 1.145 and put about 2.4grs of n310 under it. But because of the really low speed I'd probably also have to have the Lee tumble lube grooves all removed for any chance of the bullet stabizing.

Maybe that's not the problem? Factory .38 special ammo can drive tacks with 158s doing 770ft/s (121.7PF) right? So I think the issue with tumbling heavy bullets is with the powder. Have you tried that load with a slower powder?

Tumble lube bullets can be problematic. I have not tired it with any other powder tho I really only want to go with a faster powder not slower. I could also ways try it at say 775fps with aa2,unique,and power pistol and see if there's any problems.

Works fine at 3.2gr at 30ft need to get out at 25yrds and see how it does.

I was running a 170gr normal lube groove swc with 2.8grs of aa2 and accuracy was great but at 2.8 and this bullet it tumbles. Only down side to the 170 sec is its a 2 cavity mold instead of a 6 and the throat on my shadow is to short compared to my 75b.

This is from my CZ P07:

Berry's Flat Point Hollow Base Thick (copper) Plate 124 grain

OAL needed to be 1.05, the shoulders engage the throat at anything longer during "push test"

4.35 grains Ramshot True Blue

Ranier Ballistics Round Nose Hollow Point 124 grain copper plate (neat round)

OAL 1.1

4.35 grains

Will get a Chrono set up soon and will update with results.

All my CZs have been more accurate closer to a 135 PF than 125pf with various bullets / weights

So I tend to load a bit hotter ,if you could call it hot, and take all the stress out if chrono stage

Extreme 147rn

Clay Dot 2.9

1.140

So soft its silly

What weight recoil spring are you running with this load?

10# or 11# usually 10 in my match gun. About as low as I can find. Gun stays flat brass does go into outerspace but the frame shows no wear from such a soft load. Warning this barely makes PF in a AUZ barrel.

Good info here.

In my CZ Tac Sport 9mm

Most accurate loads are 147grs TMJ RNFP Cam Pro bullets [Canadian] and

147 grs Hornady FMJ RN with 3.3 grs of Titegroup and Dominion [Russian] primers.

OAL 1.120

I run this load out of my Glock with no issues. I was hoping to take this into a CZ platform:

147 Bear Creek flat nose.

3.3 grains of VV N320

OAL = 1.115

Crimp = .378 to.380

Federal or Winchester primers.

135.5 power factor.

Sometimes I put a Precision Delta FMJ in there and get the same result (a bit slower perhaps).

I load them a touch shorter but they have worked fine for me at that OAL.

I believe 3.2g of Titegroup or 3.5g of SOLO 1000 will be right around 130 PF
