    929 ?

For range use and plinking it's fine, but then again my old K38 will out shoot it accuracy wise. For competition it will need some work done. I expected more, never got it.
  2. Sent it back cause it wasn't accurate enough IMO. They said 2" groups @ 25 yds Ransom Rested with factory Win 147 grs ammo was more than acceptable, then it was sent back. I get it's not a custom gun, I assumed wrong, thinking it should do that @ 50 yds.
  3. Mine was an early one with .355 bore. I can't understand why new barrels would be .357 bores. I'm done sending mine back.
  4. I found the .357 158grs. jacketed or plated bullets to be more accurate in my 929. .358 lead bullets would not fall through the cylinder, .357 would. I could be wrong, but I think S&W just simplied production and used the 627 cylinders and chambered them for 9mm. Makes sense to keep production costs down. I couldn't get decent accuracy at all with 115grs .355 9mm bullets. 147grs .355 bullets would give me acceptable accuracy. Longer, heavier bullets worked best.
  5. Mine too. I didn't see the need for another trigger or trigger job, but not stopping anyone from doing it. I wouldn't want it any lighter.
  6. I just mounted the Alchin Mini-STS mount and Vortex Razor on my 929. The Razor was a perfect fit on the mount with the nylon plugs aligning perfectly. Couldn't be happier. I did have to remove a bit of metal on the front lip of of the base so it would fit flush in the slot. Shot off hand @ 25 yds with CamPro 158grs .357 bullets and 3.0grs of Titegroup.
  7. Don't know about Australia, but he shipped me one to Canada.
  8. With my 9mm TS and 147grs FMJ loaded to minor I used a 6 0'clock hold with just a little space between the bull @ 25 yds to hit center of the black 25 yds NRA Bullseye target. 50 yds I hold dead center.
  9. I don't like the fact that you have to place bullet and case on opposite sides of the SDB. I want one hand on the lever the other doing bullet/case tasks. The LNL for me and if you buy it new you get 500 free bullets.
  10. I'm going to try this sooner or later. http://www.shars.com/products/cutting/countersinks/1-2-6-flute-solid-carbide-countersink-90-degree
  11. Sorry, a bit new here. Why did carbide get old for titanium?
  12. You'll need a carbide cutter for Titanium cylinders.
  13. Sent my 929 back because of accuracy issues. It came back saying it was more than accurate with 2" groups @ 20yds Ransom Rested with Win Factory 147gr ammo. S&W told me that 4 to 6" groups @ 25 yds is within spec. Good to know about the .357 cylinder throat. Next I'll be trying 160grs .357 bullets for accuracy.
  14. Shot out usually means the barrel rifling is worn out or pitted badly where accuracy is gone. Check muzzle crowns too. I've seen many times when a new crown has restored accuracy. When it comes to barrels, rifle or pistol, the higher pressure loads being used such as magnum or 9mm Major, the faster the throat gets worn out. Might take 100K rounds in pistols to do so, but the beauty is you can replace the barrel. Most rifles in serious comps gets replaced between 1 to 5K depending on caliber.
