  1. I've got several 1911's crafted by Rich Dettelhouser (Canyon Creek Custom) in 9mm, 40 s&w, and 45 acp for competition use. Rich builds a great gun.

Sorry, my bad. I thought the new ACE SOCOM grip was steel. I just looked at it on their website and it says it's aluminum.

Icarus makes a steel frame for the P320.
  4. I've used Nowlin Arms trigger kits for a few of my 1911's. Very crisp and smooth. The kits i used break right at 3# which is my preference.
  5. I'm not familiar with this trigger kit. I'll have to check it out.
  6. Been shooting X5 Legions in CO the last two years. The stock trigger on my X5 Legions were pretty decent. I've tried both the Gray Guns Intl non-adjustable curved triggers, and the Armory Craft adjustable straight triggers. Both very good triggers that offered some improvement over stock trigger. What's everyone else's thoughts on X5 Legion aftermarket triggers you are using?
  7. I was shooting the very first CO National match when halfway through the match my red dot came flying off my CO gun. The screws were sheared off. Thankfully I had an identical backup. Another match with a different gun I had a fairly new trigger spring break. But again, fortunately I had a backup. And another match where during the match my red dot lost zero. Thankfully I had a backup. The instances have been rare over the years, but enough that if I'm going to take the time, effort, and expense to go to a match I definitely want a backup.
  8. Springfield is currently offering a rebate for 3 additional mags and a soft case to go along with the three mags and hard case that come with the purchase of an XDm Elite. The Elite comes with the new Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly and an extended grip safety with memory bump. To buy an aftermarket trigger and extended grip safety was $200. Now they are included. And with the 5.25" model to convert it to CO all you need to do is unscrew the adjustable rear sight, and replace it with a Springer Precision red dot plate. All this for under $600 if you shop around.
  9. Yeah, I don't know anything about the 92X so I didn't want to comment on it.
  10. If your budget is up to $1000 on just the gun, I'd recommend buying a Sig X5 Legion. It's optic ready with a decent trigger out of the box.
  11. PASA continues to put on a single stack match, the PASA Single Stack Classic. It's a one day match. This year it had 11 stages. The organizers use many of the stages from past SS Classic matches. It's a great match and a great time. It gives me an excuse once a year to get the SS out of the safe, dust it off, shoot the match and give my CO gun a short break.
  12. As you know the CZ Shadow 2 Optic Ready is ready out of the box for CO. Just buy a red dot. And one of the top proven guns for CO. But that being said, if you like the Beretta and only want to gear up for one model of gun for different competitions, stay with the Beretta for CO.
  13. Just ordered one from Grauffel's site. Thanks!
  14. Been looking everywhere for a Leupold DPP optic plate for my Shadow 2 OR. No one seems to have them in stock. Any ideas where i might find one? Thanks!
  15. There are always the replys of don't buy brand (insert any name) because they are junk but then they never give any specific reason or personal experience why they claim it's junk.
  16. Several years ago when I first got into USPSA, I bought a 5.25" XDm. Dropped in a PRP trigger and shot Production. Love that gun. Still have it today. I eventually moved on to the CZ Accu Shadow, then to a CZ Shadow 2 because of the additional weight. And now I'm shooting a Sig X5 Legion in CO the last few years. I definitely prefer a heavier gun. When people are interested in dipping their toes into USPSA and wonder what gun to start with, I recommend the new XDm Elite, and the XDm before the Elite was offered. Affordable and has a really nice out of the box trigger. It's even a great gun for someone that is all in on USPSA (as TGO would agree). So if they decide it's a sport for them, the XDm or XDm Elite will serve them well. I think the XDm is the most underrated gun in USPSA.
  17. Good information everyone. Thanks. I've never shot steel challenge so I wasn't sure the size of the steel or the distance? But based on the comments it seems as if my 7.5 moa on my DPP should work just fine.
  18. I've shot USPSA for several years, and been shooting CO since it's inception. Probably going to get into Steel Challenge matches soon at a local range. I'm running a DPP 7.5 moa in CO. But on occasion when a stage has distant steel, it covers almost the entire target. So I know 7.5 moa is too large for Steel Challenge. I'm thinking 2.5 moa? What are your thoughts on the optimal red dot moa for steel? Thanks.
  19. Thanks for the advice. I was hitting on it so hard I was afraid i was going to damage the FCU. The FCU could probably take more of a beating than I think it can.
  20. Yeah, pre-cutting is a great idea. Def going to do that.
  21. Tried that several times. It seems to have broke in a way i can't get it to rotate at all with the guide rod forward. I think i literally got an "unlucky" break. Pun intended.
  22. That's a great idea. I will do that on future gas pedals.
  23. The Illinois Sectional match is this weekend so i figure i'd give my Sig X5 Legion a good cleaning. I go to take it apart and realize the GoGuns *thumb rest [generic]* (slide take down lever)has broken. And i can't get the broken part of the take down lever out to remove the slide. I took a pic of it next to one that isn't broken to give you an idea where it broke. Has this happened to anyone else that can give me an idea how they got it out?
  24. I've shot a couple matches in CO where targets were 50 yards away, which of course is rare. But more often times targets sometimes 25 yards away and sometimes with hardcover or a no-shoot.
