lawboy
I am using a 10-8 slanted mag release and it works well, no complaints. Still, it is small and my thumb is short and I have to flip the gun to reach the release. I am using VZ grips with the thumb channel but I cannot possibly reach it without flipping. So, what kind of oversize buttons are folks using and how do you all like what you've got?
FAZZ
I use the EGW or Ed Brown, they are both alike except the Brown is serrated. I've been thru many mag buttons and finally found the one I like
EkuJustice
While I dont run one, this one by wilso extends the mag release back if you have short thumbs http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Wilson-Oversized-Mag-release-Blue-P632.aspx
mgood
Mitchell right-side mag catch, so I can release the mag with my trigger finger. I don't have to flip the pistol and my grip along the back strap stays consistent.
astephenson
I just received a Dawson drilled and tapped mag release (IDPA Legal length) and Low Profile button from Power Factor Shooting. I can use the button for USPSA SS and take it off for IDPA CDP. Works great, and no shifting required.

BurdDawg69
+1 for Brazos. Ive tried the STI Paddle button but it wasnt as sturdy as I would have liked. Ive heard The arredondo buttons ares ok but they are plastic.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: The Wilson mag release is very well made and works well on a 1911. You may have to clearance the grips a little more to get your thumb a little closer. Thanks, Eric

MartinLei
I use Ed Brown on my single stack and STI on my open guns. I used to angle up the STI about 45 degree to clear my left hand, but recently have to turn it almost vertical after dropping the mag a few time in a match. jailer252
I use a Wilson combat with 2 coils removed from the spring. With the VZ Operator grips I use (thumb cut relief) easier to depress.
Rick Stone
S&A on 1911, Mitchell for STI/SVI. Why S&A in the SS, and Mitchell on the widebody?
Steve RA
Mostly because S&A doesn't make a widebody and I don't think Mitchell makes a 1911. Evidently, from Mitchell's web site, they do make a right side mag release for 1911s also. The S&A works from both sides and - as far as I know - all the Mitchells only work from the right side. Smitty4313
I run the Wilson. That big rectangular button is hard to miss, and I don't have to alter my grip at all. Smitty
