  1. Tim: Good to see you are going to be a test mule for this setup. I am in a holding pattern on this setup until everyone gets the bugs worked out. The blowback AR9mm is proven for me and so is the MPX platforms. As to which one is faster I am still trying to figure that one out. I am still working on loads for both. The MPX is almost done, but I am rethinking my AR9mm setup with some lighter bullets which may take a different buffer setup. Looking forward to your testing. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello: I would tend to think in the same way as you. I have found loads in the 137-145 range work best in the MPX. I have also noticed that the 115 grain bullets work better for me than the heavier bullets that I use in the AR9mm. As for using Gen 1 mags in a Gen 2 MPX it is something you will have to test and test more than once. My MPX will run both Gen mags with no problems. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello: Shooting soft is just one thing. How about how well it actually works? I will take reliability over soft shooting every time. Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello: Magazines I use, Taccom splice with a Factory 17 and 33 round mags together, Magpul 21 round mags, Glock 33rd, Glock 33 with TF +10, Glock with Arredondo +5/6 and Dawson base pad with Glock Factory magazines. I may get some Zev base pads if they were a little cheaper. For most stages I use a Glock 33 rd with a +5/6 base pad that gives me 36/37 rounds with no spring change. The Magpul mags reload very quick so I use those for classifiers or unloaded starts. Trigger I have been using a Hiperfire 24C or 3-gun. Both have been 100% in multiple PCC's. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello: We have seen a couple around here breaking in different pistols. They all have been less than 5 years old. The old ones are still going strong after years of use. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello: The Colt mag QC10 I have feeds smoother than the Glock QC10 as well. I think the double stack magazine and the feed ramp is the difference. Both feed great but the Colt lower is just a little smoother. I changed out uppers and also bolts etc. using the same load in both also. I also found that the Hahn insert feed smoother as well. Recoil feels the same to me in both. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello: If you are going to shoot USPSA matches I would suggest a full 16" barrel. My 8" Sig has more flip than my 16" Sig barrel even shooting tailored loads at 135 power factor for both. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello: What color is the follower? The problem you may have is the base of the follower is hitting the Taylor Freelance base pad lip. You may have file the base pad so the follower goes into the base pad. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello: One thing that has been discussed about your choice is what ammo will you be using? Factory stuff I would pick the MPX. If you reload and are willing to tune the load and buffer setup then the AR9mm will be close. I think if you budget $1400-$1600 all in you can have everything you will need for a top shelf AR9mm. The Sig will come in at around $1900-$2100 all in. Both setups will include a red dot, magazines, extensions for mags, belt and mag pouches. I am building another upper right now for the AR9mm to test some things out. It will be light but not super light since I found for me I can make it too light for USPSA matches. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello: We have some really good steel challenge shooters around here. The dot size that they choose the most is a 6MOA. That dot size is great for small steel plates and is faster than the smaller size dot. I am not a world champion but that is what I was told by a couple of them. I would mount the dot where you can pick it up quickly. That could be closer to your eye or further down the rifle. You will have to see what works best for you. To answer you question about a riser, the same thing applies. You have to be able to see the dot quickly so if you need a riser get one or a stock that fits you better. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello: I think it comes down to your budget and what your mechanical ability is. If you can change a light switch, tear down a 1911 for cleaning you can build a AR9mm. The Sig MPX is the softest shooting but I don't think it is any faster than a AR9mm for me. The Sig's have gotten a little cheaper but will need a better trigger for sure. The JP will need a new hand guard that is lighter. If you go AR I would go Glock mags since they are easy to find. If you go Sig I would check to see if a Gen 2 will take the Gen 1 mags since they are cheap from Sig. My Gen2's will run both mag types. If you decide to build start with a good lower. I am using Quarter Circle 10 but the Joe Bob's Sparten works well also. Lots of very good info here and people that will help you out. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello: C-More slideride has the biggest screen and just work. I am using a Holosun 510C right now on my MPX and really like it. I tried the micro dots and the lenses are just too small for me. Micro size and slideride lens size would be perfect. Thanks, Eric
  13. Tommy: You could make your own MPX hand guard by leaving off the original and getting some pipe insulation to put over the barrel. A couple of zip ties and your done. Or maybe an adapter with some PVC pipe. I think there will be more stuff for the MPX coming out at Shot Show or just after. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello: If you search around you can find the Sig MPX in the $1200-$1300 range. Then you add a trigger and dot and you are good. A top shelf home built will cost about the same. The MPX does shoot softer but I am still not sure it is any faster than a tuned AR9mm. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: I think Joe Bob's has some still for $149 and free shipping over $99. I wonder if there is something new coming out or they just have lots of those since most buy the 24C. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello: Look at the Nordic 10/22 hand guard and add the rail for that hand guard. Or you could get a Matrix hand guard from Joe Bob's with a built in rail. I have both and like both. Lastly you could get the Nordic rail for the 10//22 hand guard and drill the Taccom hand guard to install it. Lots of options. Thanks, Eric
  17. Charlie: I will be trying just the circle at the next match to see how it will work for me. I agree with you on the 510C and the different options for dot setup. The MRO was one of my options but when I actually tried one I did not like it over the C-More's I use. DPP are more than I wanted to spend and did not think they are much better than a standard C-More railway. Has anyone heard if Holosun will be bringing out a new version of the 510? Thanks, Eric
  18. Hello: I can weight my Sig MPX 16" setup. My AR9mm are lighter for sure. The JP's I have shot all feel front heavy to me. Changing the hand guard would solve that. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello: I shot the 510C today in a match. I used the 2MOA dot for the close up target stages and tried the circle/dot on a stage with longer shots. Both worked great for me. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello: I may go down this road next year for a suppressor for my MPX. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello: My Walker's are not working only after 3 months of use. I sent an e-mail to see how they handle this. I have some other brand earmuffs that still work after years of use in all temperatures. I like the Walkers but will see if I just got a pair? Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello: I have also seen problems with sear springs with bad heat treatment or material that cause all sorts of problems as well. Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello: I am going to be trying a Holosun 510C out tomorrow. I think the circle dot will be a nice thing to have. I did not like the Trijicon MRO I tried because of the bulky housing/mount and blue/green tint with slight magnification. With a different mount like the LaRue it maybe better for me. I am using a C-More railway right now with either a 4MOA dot or a 6 MOA dot depending on the day and type of match it is. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello: I would add 2 Magpul 21 round magazines to your magazine collection. They work great for reloads on classifiers and drop free very easily. I have noticed some lowers drop mags easier than others even using the same mags in both. Thanks, Eric
  25. Hello: I think your 147 load will be right at 125PF in my barrels, so that would be the difference with your 160 grain load. Thanks, Eric
