If you are using light loads I would recommend seating the bullets fairly deeply, 1.100" or less depending on how the bullet sits in the case. It will help increase pressure, which helps titegroup burn cleaner.

Top left is showing signs of flattening
-
Be careful running a soft primer like Federal in 9major; they can be pierced far more easily under the high pressure.
-
If you go with the Everglades V2 JHP it will minimally change your OAL, being nearly the same profile as an FMJ.
-
You either have a fast barrel or a fast batch. What other loads do you use?
-
Buy a case gauge. Also, if it hasn't been sized a bullet will usually drop all the way in.

We all play with loads, dots, mounts and other stuff when we first start shooting open, but in the end you are the biggest piece of equipment that can be improved.

I have stopped using hear dry all together. I put the brass in my RCBS media separator and fling off as much water as I can, then I dump them on a heavy bath towel and roll them around, which takes all of the water off of the outside, then I set a 20" box fan at one end of the towel and blow air over them for several hours. The brass gets completely dry and doesnt get a burned look to it.

Mr. Bullet Feeder - bullets tilted or fallen off case
chevrofreak replied to Dazhi's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
Put a spring or rubber band on the feeder die to give more downward pressure. It should help seat the bullets a bit. Armanov sells a spring kit. -
Blazer brass is great 9major brass IMO I use Win, FC, PMC, Speer, and Blazer for 9major.

How are you guys leveling your optics to your rifle.
chevrofreak replied to 450AK's topic in Precision Rifle
I figured I had better show what I mean. This laser level projects a crosshair, which gives you two frames of reference for alignment vs a plumb line, and the crosshairs are self leveling like a plumb line. Having someone help you tighten your scope mounted level while you keep the reticle aligned makes it go much smoother. This laser level is approximately 25 yards away on my garage door. This was a friends rifle, and now that his reticle is leveled, he is smacking plates dead center at distance while using holdovers. -
You might want some magnum primers with a light load like that. At 25.0gr of WC844 (effectively bulk H335 from what I read) I was getting hangfires with my S&B primers.

chevrofreak replied to 450AK's topic in Precision Rifle
I mount the scope as level to the gun as possible using bubble levels on the reveiver and the elevation turret. Then I set my laser lever with a crosshair pattern near a white wall as far away as I can practically get it and align the crosshairs with it before tightening my scope mounted bubble level down. -
Does anyone else have a problem with the vibration speed randomly jumping up and causing problems? Mine has done this since the day I took it out of the box if I have the rheostat turned up any amount above the lowest setting.

I tested my Hornady case activated powder measure with Silhouette a few days ago and according to my GemPro 250 I had 7 That were 8.30, 2 that were 8.26 and one that was 8.32

My Bergara .223 Wylde chamber has an incredibly short leade and I will be over pressure and blowing primers on reloads that my 5.56 chambered guns will eat all day. It is a 24" barrel and will throw MK262 at 2960fps without any real pressure signs.

I run nearly the same charge of Silhouette (8.3gr) as I do with HS6 (8.6gr) with a PD 115 JHP and I think Silhouette shoots better, loads better and runs cleaner.

Double Alpha Bullet Feeder Price
chevrofreak replied to Overscore's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
I think Karl's bullet feeder would be better without the 3D printed switch housing. The entire assembly with dropper die can be purchased for $100, vs $50 for just the die. I am also running mine in .223 which presents its own problems that a pistol caliber likely will not. -
Where did you find that pistol?

Who makes the tabs to smooth out Dillon shell plate?

Go with the Arredondo. My Reloading Innovations ones would work themselves up and out of the hole as they rotated. -
Double Alpha Bullet Feeder Price
chevrofreak replied to Overscore's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
I have one of Karl's for 223 and a real MBF for 9mm. The 3D printed one took some tweaking, but it runs pretty reliably. -
I have loaded quite a few X-treme cases for 9major and they did fine, but they didnt like having 9.4gr of 3n38 in them, which is why I sort them out.
-
X-treme brass is pretty good, but definitely reduced case capacity. I sort my brass and put the Win, PMC, CCI, Speer, Blazer, FC and R-P headstamp in my 9major box, and everything else that doesnt have a step into my 9 minor box. Anything with a step gets a light load, then left at the rage during winter shooting.
