Reading this has been interesting. Good points- if you don't have a baseline you can't guarantee. I really love Mr. Springer personally responding to the positions and commend him on his professionalism. BarSto has been an industry standard for 30+ years. I have an XDM and am interested in knowing what I can do to improve it. First got it earlier this year and shot several groups at 25 yd what were 2-3" range. That was using factory mags. Since I have added Dawson extensions and feel like the mags are pushing on the BBL affecting the accuracy when I shoot from a rest. I don't really understand how the barrel lock up works, so this may not be relevant. I jumped back into this sport thinking wow, I can get a factory gun to do everything I want....... A little time in the game and I see that that was a false assumption. Some of the drop in modifications do help, though I think you really need a competent COMPETITION GUNSMITH. Not the BS Navy Seal Wanna Be parts changers down at bobs Local gun shop. If you want a guarantee of accuracy, order an INFINITY and drop $4-6 Grand. They will send you a Ransom Rest test group shooting under 1" at 50 yards. Mr Springer, you may have earned a customer simply by the quality of your replies

When will somebody make a replacement Rear sight? I really want the narrow sight setup.

thanks for the comments about the direct mounted optics. I have really been interested in trying that but blowing that kind of scratch only to have the sight fail is not something I look forward to.

It sounds interesting. I have had similar thoughts. My only other consideration is to mount an RMR on the slide. Something about an optic slamming back and forth over and over, just seems like something to break.

I have recently returned to Pistol Shooting and bought a DAA Race Master holster. It is amazing though only holding on the trigger guard is a little unnerving at first. Also got the DAA Racer Pouch and the DAA Racer Pouch with Magnet. In the USPSA type matches I can see the advantage of having the magnet to pickup a staged mag (course requirement) and put it on the belt for a later reload, vs reloading at that point. Learning the tricks of the new game. My rig is the 5.25 in 9mm. The extra shims that come with it fit the 9 mags fine.

Sounds like a good investment.

I used Dremel. Go slow!!!!!!! IT was really easy, compared to beating on it with the Hammer method.

I like the Dawson Ice Magwell. It seems to have a better fit IMHO I put the .100 Fs on mine and the rear leaves to wide a gap for my liking. I am looking for a replacement rear to go along with a .100 front. Good luck

Many years ago shooting NRA Bianchi Cup with a Scoped revolver, 3.5-4 second runs was pretty standard.

Well, let's break it down then. YouTube "3 second el presidente," and you win find a Ben stoeger video of a 3.76 run, and a Vogel run of 3.67. So, let's use that.3.67 raw time minus let's say .9 seconds for a draw gives us 2.77 seconds. 2.77 seconds minus the 1.2 second reload you claim is perfectly adequate for very fast times leaves us 1.57 seconds. The first 10 remaining splits gives us an exceptionally sporty .157 average splits and transitions. I'm an A, and I've shot maybe one .16 split, ever. Doing 5 of them in a row, with transitions, seems inhuman to me at my current skull level. Same math but with a .9 second reload gives us .187 splits and transitions, which, while fast, is much more doable. I can shoot in the .19 range (though not with guaranteed alphas at 10 yards by any means haha), and I bet lots of shooters could. What does all this mean? I respectfully disagree that a fast reload isn't important for fast el prez times, and I would say the math agrees. BUT none of that is super applicable to regular stage shooting. Reloads are almost always masked by movement in this game. To be fair the original question was in regards to a GM run on El Pres, which to do that is around a 1.3 second reload as you have already stated. I agree though, to say that you get sub 1 second reloads on a 10 yard target is a little unrealistic. POSSIBLY with an open gun, massive magwell, and a dot. But I think for a production shooter the average would be around 1.2 or so seconds. But in regards to the videos you are referencing lets be fair here. The difference between a regular GM and Ben Stoeger or Bob Vogel is massive, and in all reality I don't know how you could compare a regular GM and those guys. I would have to believe they are probably pushing that drill to its absolute limits, and I would judge that they have a .85 draw and reload. Either way to me this is all about a drill, that as we discussed can be hundo'd with a 1.5 second draw and load. Wyatt its been a long time but I recall doing El PRez in just over 4 seconds. This was so long ago it was before Grand Master existed.....

Practice. Occasionally you want to double tap something, but aren't certain you posses the technique / skill set to accomplish the task. When you are on the range and there is no pressure, give it a try. In Sporting clays true pair targets there is (a perceived) obvious target order to shoot. IE Target A first then B. A group of bored shooters created a game called Xtreme Clayz. They force you to shoot 2 pairs AB then 2 pairs BA the final pair being the shooters choice. When out shooting with some buddies I would experiment and occasionally be surprised that the easy looking way was actually easier in reverse. good luck, practice practice practice. Oh yea, focus on the Front Sight!!!!!

I want to change the Sights for my XDM. I have purchased a replacement 0.100" Front Sight. but I don't know where I can get a narrower Rear Sight. Does anyone know where I can find one? Possibly where I could get one custom made.

I had a buddy buy a Yediz. It broke, he returned it for Repair, then broke the next time out again. He returned it and bought a Beretta A300. Very happy for a starter gun and $700

The A300 appears mechanically identical to the 391 to me

1 oz 7.5. Mirage T-3 Grand Italia is what I shoot in Sporting Clays. They will reach out a long way and when I am on, make the bird look like an ink ball.

For Sporting Clays they are great. I think with any serious competitor you should invest in having a stock fit. For Trap, Dennis Devault, or Wenig.com. For Sporting Clays Jim Greenwood is my favorite hands down. I currently shoot a Greenwood,. and have had multiple Wenig Self Fit and one Custom fabrication from the Wenig folks
