  1. A recent trend in Sporting Clays has been the Mid rib. I had mine installed on a Beretta 686. Most folks drop their head down to mount the gun, then raise up to see the bird in the middle of shooting, IE the miss..... With my mid rib, my head stays erect and i eliminate the raising my head. It also brings the recoil a little lower in the shoulder pocket. That creates a perceived reduction in recoil for me anyway
  2. Field guns typically have a narrower rib. The overall weight of the field guns with shorter barrels is an advantage. Shooting clays guns is not like shooting 3 gun. Most North Texas Tournaments have 200 bird main event with an additional 50 bird side event. My recommendation would be to go with a 32" o/u. You will have much greater enjoyment in the SC course, and could use your 3 gun (with appropriate plug) for hunting, or drag the o/u out. Either will do the job.
  3. shooterspagetx.com has a forum page that has items for sale. Trapshooter.com is another option. I am a big fan of Beretta guns. Currently have a 686, have had 682, 687EELL 391 390 and use a 1301 now in 3 Gun. The biggest difference in the 680 series is the ascetic factor. Essentially they are mechanically the same. IE: the 682 and high end 687 series have replaceable barrels shoulders, and some models have an adjustable trigger shoe (which can be added aftermarket) colegun.com is the source for beretta parts. Good luck
  4. Beretta auto loaders are a great way to go. You can go as cheap as the A300 Outlander model. Somewhere around $700 with a synthetic. Very similar to the Beretta 391 in Design for 1/2 or less the money. With Sporting Clays the fit of the Shotgun is a major contributor to improving accuracy.
  5. I have seen some competitors with a Holster the slides off the belt like a Safarliand ELS system. But Safariland says the ELS is not for Holster Usage. Does anyone know what they are using.
