  1. Oh maybe I just leave it where it is.
  2. Can I use alox for case lube? I cast and powder coat my own bullets and have alox left over from my bullet swaging dies.
  3. In a way it does dry, actually the alcohol evaperates, leaving only the lanolin. The alcohol is there to get the lanolin to flow.
  4. +1 , I have a 550 and a rock chucker but only use the 550. I size deprime the brass, give it a tumble to clean the lube. Off to the lyman trimmer, then the lyman case prep center to pretty up the mouth and primer pocket. I pull the size die off the tool head and load them up same as pistol.
  5. I'm running a 550 with dillon dies. The smallest I went was 100gr berry's with no problems. Maybe they just need a hand drop for the bullets.
  6. +1 that should work, not sure if you would need a powder die and funnel to make it work?
  7. It is for a 550. I believe it is the multi-caliber shell plate. Only one at a time but...
  8. BE-86 has a lower flash, but this is compared to unique.
  9. I have used berry plated in 9mm, .45acp, .380acp and .223 and no problems. They seem more acurate than cast, and I use cast load data for them. The only reason I shoot cast now is because I am casting my own.
  10. I have a rock chucker but found I can do all my rifle on my 550 in a two stage process. I'm not a big volume loader. With .223 I First deprime and size, if they are dirty I tumble first, then off to the tumbler. They next go thru the lyman trimmer and case prep station. Back to the 550 for powder, bullet and crimp. For my bigger rifle, I powder by hand (because I don't have the powder setup for .308, 30/06, 8mm mauser) yet. Lotsa Zen time
  11. The only thing better than a 550 is two 550's one in each primer size!
  12. I have a line on a Smith & Wesson Model 19 for $500 suppost to be minty. I haven't seen it yet and not sure about the -3/-4 after the 19? Anyone have one or had one or shot one? What are your thoughts, good gun, good price?
  13. I have noticed, if I use a firm forward motion I can get the primers in deeper. Easier if i'm standing.
  14. My dream load for my 1911 is 6.5gr unique behind a 230gr fmj rn.
  15. With my homegrown powder coated 125gr I find BE-86 works nice. It is similar burn rate to unique with less smoke. Also keep in mind different coatings react differently to different powders.
  16. Jacketed - probably the best overall depending on maker. Better bullet=more money. Plated - I have only used berry's and have never had a problem. They are as acurate as I am. Coated - not bad. some what inconsistant between batches and smokey compared to the others. I have been casting and coating my own and can keep quality in par with all the barands I have tried before. Keep your bell and crimp set for the softest bullets and you should be fine.
