  1. Somebody mentioned Small Rifle Primers burn hotter than Small Pistol Primers. This is not the case. Small Rifle primers have a thicker cup (able to withstand more pressure), but the compound/ amount of compound used is identical to Small Pistol Primers. Don't believe me? Check with Guy Neill who writes a reloading column in USPSA's Front Sight magazine.
  2. I second this. I haven't found another 147gr bullet that can achieve this OAL. But since the OP was inquiring about 124's, the Xtreme 124gr RN can be loaded very long as with the Bayou 124gr RN.
  3. Like others have mentioned he Xtreme 147gr RN is an incredibly forgiving profile for CZ's. My current load from my CZC Accushadow is: 147gr Xtreme RN 3.1gr E3 Winchester SPP 1.15 OAL 130 PF Soft, clean and super accurate.

    CZ 9mm loads

    147gr Xtreme 1.145 3.4gr N320 135 PF 3.2gr made minor, but my groups really tightened up @ 3.4grs N320.
  5. That looks fantastic. Nice work!
  6. "Beat up" probably isn't the right phrase. 'Shows slight wear consisting of small nicks that in no way adversely affects performance'- more aptly describes what is taking place.
  7. No, the stainless guide rod gets beat up when the slide returns to battery with a lighter recoil spring.
  8. I could never get my OAL as consistent with Coated bullets as Plated. I believe this is due to the casting process as well as varying thicknesses of the coating.
  9. Absolutely worthwhile! Aside from it no longer shaving my coated bullets, it also allows me to just place the bullet in the mouth of the case and then reach for the next which speeds up my production rate. With the Dillon expander I needed to guide the bullet up into my seater die, it would not balance itself no matter the adjustment.
  10. Finally got around to chrono'ing the big boys, I have too many damn projects. Anyways I really, really like the feel of these bullets-SOFT!!! Shot from a CZC Accushadow: 165gr Xtreme 2.6 grains Titegroup 1.155 OAL Winchester SPP .378" crimp 764 fps avg, 26 ES, Std dev 8- 126 PF 165gr Xtreme 2.8 grains Titegroup 1.155 OAL Winchester SPP .378" crimp 788 fps Average, ES 27, Std dev 10- 130 PF. I can't comment on 25 yard accuracy (Hi-Power Jack), but at 15 yards these are one hole shooters. They are more accurate than my go to load of 3.2 grains of TG with a coated 147 grain bullet. Did I mention that the profile is incredibly forgiving even in a CZ chamber? Sorry for the rant, I think I'm in love.
  11. Same with my Accushadow. Running an 11# recoil spring the rod does get beat up a little. From my understanding, this is due to the guide rod unseating for a split second when the slide goes into battery because of the light spring. The guide rod must be softer than the frame to be able to take the abuse, otherwise the frame would be battered.
  12. I have no experience with the 147gr round nose pills but In my Accushadow I load: The Blue Bullets 147gr FP @ 1.12 and Bayou 147gr FP @ 1.14 OAL. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these bullets appear to be from the same mold. Note how the ogive of the Blue Bullet is slightly different from the Bayou. Possibly due to the thicker proprietary coating of the blue versus the Hitek coating of the Bayous?
  13. For those of you who purchased a Para recently, have you received your Rebate yet? I called yesterday and after being on hold for some 40+ minutes they told me that they had not received any of my paper work and have no record of the electronic submission that I sent almost 2 months ago. Luckily I have duplicates of the necessary forms/ paperwork that I sent in and screenshots with the date when I electronically submitted.
  14. Very interesting. Do you find Solo to be quieter than TG in general through a can?
  15. Burned a couple pounds of W231/HP-38 and 147 grain bare lead Flat Points. 3.5 grains at 1.13 OAL got me 131 PF 3.3 grains at 1.13 OAL with a Coated 147 grain pill, 133 PF. 160 grain coated- @ 1.14 OAL with 3.2 grains, 136 PF Meters well in my 650. There are certainly better options, but these days if it's available, got for it!
  16. My CZC accushadow w/ CGW 11.5# mainspring has been 100% with CCI's, Remingtons, Winchesters and obviously Federals. The only light strikes I have had with the 11.5# mainspring were my fault as I didn't seat the primers enough on my 650, no different from when I was running a 13# main. I can't comment on the polishing as CZC did an awesome job on my gun, but I would double check your primer seating. While this is not a video, this is an absolutely fantastic pictorial on detail stripping the SP01 Shadow: http://www.olegnikitin.com/news/complete-disassembly-assembly-of-cz-75-sp-01-shadow I see you are in Portland, do you shoot USPSA? I come the the valley frequently for the ARPC USPSA matches. I would be more than happy to meet with you, I have the slim RAMI safeties fitted to my gun which are Prod legal, you could see how those fit your hand.
  17. I just received 250, these things are enormous! Going to start at 2.6gr Titegroup and 2.7gr Bullseye loaded at 1.14. Hopefully get out to the range this weekend to chrono, I will post my results.
  18. 10/4 on that. Bayou 124 RN's loaded OAL are only limited by our magazines. 1.16 passes the ol' plunk test in my gun.
  19. 1.Wet/ Stainless Pin Tumble (1 TS of powdered lemishine, 1 TBS of dish soap) 2. Allow 48 hours to air-dry on towel 3. Lube clean cases with w/ homemade Isopropyl/ Lanolin case lube (about 4 squirts for 500 pieces in 1 gallon zip lock bag) 4. Load 5. Place finished rounds on towel and spray with 91% Iso Alcohol and rub for a few minutes to quickly clean lube off. I also have Carbide dies but like everyone else has mentioned, do yourself and your press a favor and use case lube!

    BBI 135's

I believe these share the same mold as the Bayou 135's (as well as the Hitek coating just diff color). I agree with Sarge, least forgiving bullet profile I have experimented with yet! CZ Accushadow- 1.10 OAL Para Pro Custom 18.9- 1.08 OAL
  21. Never loaded any PP in 9 minor as there are far too many better options even in the current powder crisis. But, I have comfortably made major in 9mm with it in a 5" 2011. As others have mentioned; it's loud and flashy. Back in my 10mm days I used a ton of Power Pistol. It produced excellent velocities second only to Longshot and 800X.
  22. I don't have a hoarding problem, I guess it's a shooting problem. 20# of Silhouette only lasts me 5 months or 17,500 rounds
  23. I love the Springer pads as well. Great guys to deal with as well.
