  1. Received the 21 round mags and they don't fit as others have mentioned. A shooter at my local club who also has a Pro 18.9 used a dremel and removed material from the basepad, took some metal from the mag catch area, and slightly cut/ changed the angle of the feed lips to better approximate the 18rd mags that came with the gun. I tried his modified mag in my ProC 18.9 and it ran flawlessly with 21 rounds loaded. I'm going to do the modification to all my mags, but I am still interested in trying the dawson basepads.
  2. I purchased mine from Brownells as Marv Z stated.
  3. I appreciate the responses! Looks like I'm going to start at 1.250 OAL- 3.6grains Of Clays and Chrono. Once I establish a good major load at 1.250 I may try something along the lines of what kneelingatlas suggested. Shorter OAL with corresponding reduced charge weight to get her real soft
  4. No one else?! Man, I really want one of these as Iron sights to dot has been a tough transition for me.
  5. I was able to score a pound of unobtanium from a generous club shooter yesterday. My previous load has been a 230gr Bayou w/ 4.2gr Bullseye @ 1.250". Makes 170PF from my 5" 1911. From the information I have compiled from this forum and others, people report making major with 3.6-3.9gr of Hodgdon Clays at roughly 1.250 OAL. What are/ were you all making major with?
  6. Check out the picture...2.5# and a way cleaner break.
  7. I removed the ridiculous series 80 parts and replaced with a .057" shim. I am thrilled with the results, best $10 I have ever spent! I don't have a before picture but the trigger pull from the factory was in the 3.7# range. I can't wait to try a 17# mainspring.
  8. Longshot 4 and 8 pounders in stock @ Natchez.

    18.9 Holster

I had a Bladetech Stingray made for a single stack 1911 laying around and it actually works quite well with the Pro Custom 18.9.
  10. In all honesty, I'm not sure. I've read that some have to take material off the basepad to fit with the pro custom's magwell, and others found the 21 rounders to fit with no mods. I will let you know as soon as I receive them.
  11. Joe's Pawn Shop has P-18 FACTORY 21 round 9mm mags in Stock! http://www.joespawnshop.net/Para-Ordnance-Mags_c31.htm You're welcome

    SP01 Magazine Base-Lock

The Mec-Gar Base pad locks aren't necessarily problems (although I did have a few mags spontaneously disassemble in a match whereas this has NEVER happened on my mags with the Springer/ SPO1 lock combo), more of peace of mind and convenience when cleaning /reassembling. I can however unequivocally tell you that the SP01 mag base pad locks fit significantly tighter and with less play in MY Springer Pads and are much easier to dis/reassemble. Maybe I got a bad batch of Mec-Gar pad locks, or it's just general manufacturing variances. I tend to run my gear very hard, having SP01 mag base locks is one less thing I have to worry about. To be clear, Springer Base Pads work fine with the Mec-Gar locks, but they work absolutely perfectly with the SP01 locks.
  13. Powder Valley has Ramshot Silhouette 1 and 4LB available!

    CZ Accu Shadow

    This. They are incredible!
  15. Cabelas has 231, HS6 and CFE Pistol 1 pounders and 231 in 8 pound kegs in stock currently.
  16. 147gr blue bullets. The 147gr bayou bullets ran slightly better but still unacceptable. I can see a throat ream in the very near future for me.
  17. I agree, sounds like a primer depth issue. Do you have a single stage press in conjunction with your 550? If so, try manually seating primers on that (do 100 or so) and then continue with your normal reloading sequence on the 550. Document your results and compare your light strike failure rate with primers seated in the 550.
  18. I've been searching for these for a very long time (out of stock for more than 6 months) to replace the odd shaped Mec-Gar plates that do not lock very well into my Springer Precision basepads. In case anyone else has been looking for these, CZ Custom has the SP01 Mag Base Lock plates in stock!
  19. Is the modified slide stop sold on CGW's site? I can't find it listed there...
  20. I'm was in the exact same boat. I use either One Shot or my home brew Lanolin lube. Per a members advice here, I started spraying my reloads with 90% Isopropyl and rolling in towels post loading. Takes literally less than 5 minutes to spotlessly clean 2,000 rounds. So much faster than tumbling loaded rounds.
  21. As others have stated, ask 10 people and you will get 10 different answers. In my experiences, a quality taper crimp is more than adequate. Pick your poison: I have tried Redding, Hornady, Dillon and Lyman tapers in my 650 over the years and in various calibers. All perform well and as intended.
  22. 135gr Bayou 3.4gr Titegroup 1.10 OAL CZ Accushadow Makes PF all day long and no smoke, even in below freezing temps. Titegroup works just fine with Hitek coating.
  23. I too have had to load significantly shorter in the 18.9 than in my CZ's or Glocks. I just ran out of my normal coated bullets so I have just been loading and shooting left overs from years ago. 125gr MBC LRN- 1.06 OAL, 3.7gr Bullseye, 1065 fps avg with acceptable accuracy. By the way, my 18.9 hates flat point bullets regardless of OAL or weight.
  24. I believe the purpose is to reliably shoot heavy, long loaded bullets.
