  1. Thanks, Gary. So we're going back to the hot weather? Oh, well, gotta pay to play.
  2. We are picking our days off for Jan-Feb-Mar-April-May next week, and I was hoping to get off the weekend of the Ky. State 3 gun match. Have the dates been picked yet?
  3. As an open Saiga shooter, I'd have to agree that it belongs in open only. But in open, the 10 round limit in USPSA is ridiculous. I have respect for the skills of the tube loaders though. The fine motor skills to run the tubes is extreme compared to loading a 10 round mag with a magwell. I like the speed of shooting open, but feel better about myself and my skills when I shoot tac optics, and do it well. I would not shoot any other division with my Saiga with less than 8 round mags.
  4. Before I got a great deal on a SPR-E, I used a Rock River Arms Scout rail with Warne steel rings. This put the scope out as far as the SPR-E, was half the cost. Downside is it was a little heavy, and was not quick detach. I wanted quick detach so I could switch optics when I practiced with my .22 conversion. Scout rail ran around $70, and the rings were like $40. Zero was very solid. I've been hearing good things about the Primary Arms 1 piece mount. They have a regular and extended SPR-Eish eye relief version, non-quick detach. Price is reasonable.
  5. I am an open shooter, but my brother and best buddy shoot Trooper. I got the email that Trooper is out this year, and was curious why. Was there a lack of sponsors, or lack of shooters? I thought it was funny to watch them load up all their gear, walk 30 yards, and drop it all, then repeat it 9 times. And the looks on their faces when I had a hot lunch and they had an MRE was priceless.
  6. I was thinking the 930 would be an interesting platform when they came out, but since no one else was trying it, I figured there must be a flaw somewhere. This would be great for 3 gunners, an affordable gas gun that is reliable, and no o rings to worry about, and customer service from an American company. Go Benny, go!
  7. I'd like to have a 9mm 5" upper built for my open gun, but for now when I want to shoot tac optics, I use a M&P 9L with extended mags, or if USPSA, my 40 STI. Did the Nationals use San Angelo scoring, or time plus?
  8. I've got them on 4 mags I use for 3gun, and Ltd. minor if I feel like it. I had to get the kits with the longer mag springs; the factory springs would not reliably feed the last round or 2. They come off rather easily, I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around where they slide onto the tube. Those issues addressed, they run great, feed 23 rounds reliably. If I were seriously shooting Ltd. division with an M&P, I'd probably go with Taylor Freelance and not think about my mags.
  9. I started bringing BumbleBee Spicy Thai Chili tuna. They come in a handy cup, eat with a spoon or fork so no lead contamination, and delicious. Banana in hot weather to replace potassium, G2 Gatorade, summer sausage sticks or venison jerky, and G2 Gatorade.
  10. Titanic, Princess Bride, Tremors with Kevin Bacon ("You picked on the wrong $%*^*$ rec room!), The Adventures of Ford Fairlane.
  11. I just had to call home to see how Bailey was after reading this. I will be a basket case when she goes. Gotta stop to wipe my nose now.
  12. I know, specially in optics you get what you paid for. Larry had problems with a Docter, and I keep reading about the FastFire not holding up. The Trijicon RMR has caught my eye; it seems like it would hold up well. But my Cmore keeps doing what it is supposed to do, just have to check zero often. My original idea was to have a limited top end built for my open gun for tac optic 3 gun, so I could just swap slide assemblies to switch divisions and not have to unscrew a Cmore, then re-zero it when I put it back on. I should have bought the used Eagle 9mm on the classified couple weeks ago.
  13. I like em. Ft. Benning, I've gotten to shoot a full auto AK, Bushmaster ACR w/can on auto, M203 grenade launcher. It's all about fun. Have fun!
  14. How do your primers look? I'm using 8.0 HS6 thru a KKM 5.5" with Bedell Ti comp, no extra ports. I get 171-173PF. Rifle primers only! 9.0gr. must really sling the powder if you aren't careful. I cover the case with the bullet, and "ride" it to station 4 on my 650.
  15. Do you know if the RMR mounts on the Docter or JP/Optima mount pattern? Or is it proprietary to Trijicon? Newest Front Sight has an SV in the front cover with an RMR mounted on it. Pretty sweet.

    Reloading

I enjoy pistol loading on my 650, but HATE .223. Mostly the prep.
  17. I think Ted Williams said, "If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd taken better care of myself". I've been struggling with advanced degenerative disc disease in my lumbar, Achilles tendonosis in the right, already had ruptured and repaired the left one. Got a rotator cuff and labrum tear in my left shoulder that I ignore. Urgent care has suggested I take up PlayStation!
  18. Guess I'm going to Ant Hill on Oct. 31 for the 3gun match, then to my time share in MB for a week. Looking forward, haven't had a vaction this year.
  19. I have shot with Charles at a couple FB3G matches, and found him to be nothing but a gentleman. I was at first a little put off about his statement about the good of USPSA, but do see his point of view. 3 gun is growing by leaps and bounds, except within USPSA. Why is that? If USPSA wants some of that action, it must offer what those shooters want. I think a poll on what we are looking for in a 3 gun match is excellent! My closest 3 gun club has changed it's rule set from USPSA to FB3G, to IMGA in the past several years. USPSA rules were just too cumbersome to handle, and with the participation growing every match, streamlining was necessary. The smartest thing USPSA did was to make San Angelo scoring optional. I recognize that 1 A/B, 2 anywhere does not reward accuracy as much as speed, but does move the match at a practical rate. I enjoy FB3G's modified IDPA scoring, and find it the most realistic. I'm afraid a classification system would take us backwards, toward the un-necessary complication we are stepping away from. It will not grow USPSA 3 gun participation.
  20. Buddy had a Burris Fastfire mount that fit in a Bomar dovetail he had no use for. I mounted it up on my open gun, and put on a Docter clone I got off a vendor on AR15.com. Lasted all of 30 rounds, lens cracked and the diode came unglued inside the sight, dot went off the screen. Do any of these micro sized sights stay together? The Fastfire seems to be the most economical of them from a name brand. Docter and Trijicon are a bit high for my taste, and Insight is crazy. Heard Jpoint is iffy, just the Optima rebadged. I really liked the low mount of the sight, but if it isn't reliable, I'll stick with Cmore. Everyone's experience with any of these sights is great. Will be mounted on an open STI 5" with Bedell comp, major 9mm.
  21. Does it feed fine after that round is ejected? Could be one or all: too tight extractor, weak recoil spring, too many coils in the mag spring. I doubt it is a bent feed lip if the mag feeds fine after that round. Try one thing at a time, so you know what you fixed when it runs again.
  22. Would a Daniel Defense 1 o'clock offset mounted on the rail behind your scope line up with your front sight set up? I use this, but with a Dr. optic on it for a secondary optic in open division.
  23. Unless Smith screwed up their records, someone already used the serial number on your pistol to receive the rebate, regardless if the gun had been shot or not. Hope it's a mistake on Smith's part and you get your mags.
  24. It's for a M1 Super 90. Numrich did not have it if I searched correctly.
  25. I am looking for a Benelli stock support bushing for a synthetic stock. It is an aluminum bushing that press-fits in the front of the stock that centers the stock against the receiver when you tighten the stock nut down. Brownells catalogs it, but is out of stock. Do any of you Benelli guys have one not in use? I jotted down Benny Hill's number, and BenelliUSA, and will try them tomorrow. Thought I'd ask before I turn off the computer. Thanks.
