  1. Corey, I remember you killing it at the vtac barricade, but had problems on the roof. Hopefully you can get another barrel nut from clark and replace it. The handguard is glued on, isn't it? How hard will it be to seperate the two? You said your carbon fiber was hot, imagine how our alum. ones were! I guess worse case, you can replace the handguard with one of your choosing, and start fresh.
  2. Larry, I thought you might be talking about me! No, you did fine. Hope I'm still shooting with passion when I'm your age.
  3. I went up to the car to try cool down for a while, mirror thermometer said 102. That's out in the sun. I let the engine run for 30min, it got up to 108. I came real close to being a heat casualty. There is just no way to know if it's going to be that hot. In hindsight, I would have prefered the 2 day format. If it would have been 78-79, I'd like the 1 day. All you can do is pay your money, and take your chances. The 1/3 targets showing the white side were freaky, but easier to pick up. And I didn't budge the spinner, but that's a shooter time trap anyhow. 200 yard stage killed me, but I was barely hanging on from the heat at that point. Saw some really talented tac optics shooters, stay in tac optics please! Squad 5 did represent!
  4. Good news is it looks like no rain. Bad news is it looks like it will be near 100 degrees! Wish this was in May like last year.
  5. I have ruptured my left achilles, and torn my right in two places. I now suffer with tendinosis and calcification in the right. The most comfortable boots I have found are the Converse side zip. I got a tan pair for shooting, and a black pair I wear on duty. I got mine at USCavalry when I had a coupon, and they came out to around $75 a pair. The soles are fairly aggressive, not as good as cleats, but we don't shoot much grass around here anymore, mostly gravel and mulch bays.
  6. I have a 9 major open gun with a 5.5" KKM barrel with a Bedell Ti comp in a 5" Infinity slide. It is a standard round top slide. I have had some ejection problems in the past, so I am trying the Delta Point in an Arredondo mount. If I decide to go back to a Cmore, which of the currently available 90* mounts will work with my round top slide? I've read some are more forward, some are lower, etc. The gun is already chromed, so machining the slide is not an option now.
  7. I use the DD 1* offset behind my TAC30 on the receiver. For the distances I use it, it is sufficiently "close enough". I tried it on the handguard at a cant, but liked having the lens closer to my eye for a bigger FOV.
  8. Yup! I've got a Saiga but I'm having such a good time in limited, it just sits in the safe. It works great and I never shoot it! I might break into Open in 2012 since it's not going to possibly get sold with all of the ATF's interest in it. Good, means you won't be in my division at Ky. this year! Your crew coming up again this year?
  9. I got an Arredondo mount from Shooter's Connection, and ordered the Delta Point from Big Supply, they had them for $315. Appears I got the last one, they show out of stock. The mount took a couple hours of fitting to my gun. Unless you have a flat top slide, you will have to take off a lot metal for it to clear the top of the slide. I also had to relieve it to clear the side and bottom of the slide. I think it had a lot to do with where the Serendipity holes were drilled. As soon as the Delta Point gets here, I'll be ready to roll.
  10. I thought I talked you into a Saiga at KY. last year, Cameron. I like goofing around with this Benelli, but for serious 3gunnin', I love my Babushka! I think you'll have easier time finding a 26" or 28" complete gun than finding just a barrel.
  11. Great barrel, I got the 18", 1-7. If its too heavy, send it to ADCO and have it turned down to M4 under the handguards. Did you get it from Ranier?
  12. The empty you tried, I assume it was resized. If it won't chamber, your sizing die is out of adjustment. Needs to bump the shoulder back a little more. You're not using collet dies that size the neck only are you? They don't work for a semi auto. Once you get the resized case to chamber, if you still have problems chambering a loaded case, it's the bullet touching the rifling. But since you are loading to the cannalure, I bet it's the shoulder.
  13. Clays and 147 CMJ is a great minor load. At work now, and don't remember the charge, so I won't guess. So soft, like cheating.
  14. Has anyone broke one of these yet, mounted to the slide? I just ordered one and an Arredondo mount, but would really like it on the slide, and am leery of killing a $325 sight needlessly with 9 major slide velocity. What's the warranty on these?
  15. It really is useful for stages with near and far targets. It is faster to cant the rifle and keep shooting than to switch the power ring.
  16. Just looked up their website. This would be a great place to try for me, only about 1/2 hr. away. Too bad the 24th is Easter. Skipping to go shoot would go over like a fart in church. I'm assuming we don't have to be members to shoot the matches, correct? Being an IDPA club, would my open gear be frowned upon?
  17. Most would suggest you go with rifle length gas in whatever barrel you choose. The recoil impulse is much softer. If you have to make one rifle do several jobs, the 16" midlength gas is a great compromise. My competition rifle has an 18" WOA with rifle gas from Ranier Arms. It is 1-7 twist. Very happy with it. I sent it to ADCO and turned down to M4 profile under the handguard. I was wanting the DPMS Mk 12 you mention, but at the time the wait was over a year. They are easily gotten now, Midway had them in stock last I looked, and the price is unbeatable. Just do not get a carbine gas barrel unless you have to. Just not a wise choice for a game gun.
  18. When I was still with the Sheriff's Office, a TSA agent wanted to see my wallet badge to make sure it wasn't a Chinese throwing star. It's all feel-good theatrics.
  19. Don't like heights, Chris? That Salient looks awesome. Rooting for Jaimie from here on out. Even my wife is hooked on this, wants to have a TopShot party the final night.
  20. Good luck hunting Benelli factory parts, especially that one. And if you find it, it's big bucks. Go Nordic, and don't worry about it. Most Benelli shooters don't even use the extension/barrel clamp, there is plenty of thread on there. Remington, not so much.
  21. I LOVE my Ace ARFX stock. Foam is nice in all weather, and is super light. Tried switching to an A1, and went back to the Ace. Without the rubber butt pad, the Ace is A1 length, with, it is A2.
  22. Sounds like you have the commercial CTR on a milspec tube. Either switch the stock or tube, and you should be good.
  23. I like the Caspian, shot it for years w/ no problems.
  24. I am looking forward to shooting more USPSA this summer. The Ohio match sounds like a blast, and I have some weekends off for the locals. 5 years ago, there were no options for 3 gun near here. We drove to Brighton MI just to be able to shoot a local match. "You came from Dayton?" Circleville was a blessing, and the matches were top notch. Recently, it has become a victim of it's own success, but the word gets around. They were drawing a crowd from WV, KY, IN. On the range 10-5pm for 4 stages is a long day, for a shooter. Only half done if you're the MD. I appreciate all the work Michael and Mike M. put into this, but do understand them wanting a break.
  25. Even if it is lowered, most would shoot 165pf or higher in open, it works the comp better. I think most times would be higher due to fighting muzzle flip.
