  1. I have the ACE. Without the recoil pad, it is A1 length, which I prefer. I have an 18" WOA barrel that Adco turned down under the VTAC handguard. The foam is very comfortable in all conditions.
  2. Should have been funny with Vince Vaughn & Kevin James, but it just wasn't. If you must, wait for it at RedBox.
  3. Can you say why? Seems you might be excluding a lot of people from what is shaping up to be the biggest 3 gun match in history.
  4. I hope we aren't becoming the ar15.com of practical shooting. A new guy asks some questions, if you don't want to help, move on. That was probably the most rude thing I've ever seen on this board. Blackfin2, please accept an appology on behalf of the rest of us that know better.
  5. I haven't gotten my silver coin either, which isn't Linda's area. Did anyone else who got a Paypal snafu on the coin receive it yet?
  6. I got mine from Primary Arms today, and mounted it in their Deluxe extended mount. The daytime illum. is great. The reticle is HUGE compared to the XTR14. Any worrys about the big outer ring obscuring targets? I like how the hold over dots get finer as distance goes up. Like them better than the hash lines in the XTR. I put in the battery, and evidently screwed the cap on too tight. I looked in and saw the scope cycling through the settings, then go off, then start cycling again. Backed it off a little, and it worked ok. I think I like the dial on the XTR better, no hunting for the setting you want. Better yet would be a dial like the Meopta Kdot. Will reserve anymore judgements until I can shoot it. May have an XTR14 and a Larue SPR-E for sale.
  7. Will there be a name change from tac irons to ...? What should we call it now? How about just "tactical" for irons and RDS, and tac optics for scopes.
  8. I just ordered the USB from SSS, and was reading descriptions of it and the RAM. Sounds like the USB makes reset more distinct, so do will the RAM do more, and do I need it? I already have the hard sear in it.
  9. I heard you had to use the Cavalry Arms polymer lower to use grease gun mags. Is that a regular aluminum lower? Is the mag well different to take grease guns? Very cool!
  10. What are you 20, Cam? Wait until you're 40+, things don't look like they used too!
  11. I built what you described, except I went with the White Oak Armament barrel from Ranier Arms. It is 1-7 twist, so it can stabilize 75-77 grainers, & is heavy profile, but is otherwise what you are looking for. Great price, and in stock. I sent it to ADCO and turned it down to M4 profile under the handguards. Very good barrel. I think too much is made of comps, pick one and shoot. I run the Miculek, best bang for the buck.
  12. This is my point exactly, they just plain work. I'd agree about most Oly stuff, but their pistol caliber carbines work. Plus there are no mods required to the lower to switch between calibers, works with .223 hammers and buffers/springs. I had one in .45 too, it used .45 Uzi mags, which were very hard to find.
  13. I just ordered a Tac30 w/ a Primary Arms deluxe extended mount from Marshall at PA. Bundled, he takes $10 off the mount. The scope was $289 and the mount was $49, shipping was $15. I checked Midway for the black scope, they are still $339.
  14. I have an Oly 9mm flat top I got from Midway. I got a tax stamp and SBR'd it to 11.5". I put a Primary Arms Micro dot with a riser, and a Yankee Hill folding rear sight on it, and zero'd at 50yards. With my major 9mm ammo, it is 1" low at 100yards. I use the Hahn block that allows use of unmodified Sten mags, which I bought a boatload of when they were $1 each. I had a couple cut down to 20rds. for easier use on a bench with a shooting bag. I read up on 9mm's on ar15.com, and decided on the Oly system. Has been 100% for me. It is blowback. Half the cost of Colt.
  15. It will indeed eject right into your face/forehead. I built an SP1 clone, shot a couple mags, and sold it. I thought about getting the C7 upper for it. It is an A1 style with the brass deflector as found on the A2, the Canadian army used them.
  16. Jesse that is hard core! You need knobby tires on that scooter, though.
  17. I had a bunch of Norinco brass that left a ring of swaged brass around the body above the extraction groove after sizing. Really soft. I toss it if I find it, I forget what the headstamp is.
  18. Talked to Jerry about his Mossy, and generally he said he tinkered with it before the match, and did not prove it before he left LA. Bout what most of us have done at some time or other. He did say he was impressed with it, and it was indeed faster than any Benelli he ever shot, and just smoked the 1100 he used to shoot.
  19. I was one of the unlucky ones who Paypal screwed up when I ordered my silver coin. Daniel told me they are making another run to fill the orders for those of us that didn't get one at the match. I saw them at the stat building, and they look great.
  20. The only observation I made on scoring was the flying clay on stage 1, if it broke on launch, fire a shot and take credit for a hit. It worked in my favor, but just isn't fair. No one on my squad hit that bird, but half of us got credit for it. Not a match breaker, but not a fair way to measure a shooter's ability to hit a flying clay. I would sooner see that taken out, and measure my ability on that stage with something all shooter's in my division had an equal chance at doing.
  21. I shot B&P slugs at Benning this weekend. I had a jam on one stage that I think was mag induced. On the all-slug stage, they ran flawless, and the superlight recoil is unbelievable. The price is the best part, $120.95 for 200, shipping included straight from B&P. It's probably like .22's, find the one your gun likes, and stock up.
  22. Jesse, I feel ya. I tore my achilles tendon in two places back in the middle of Oct. First words out of my mouth as I'm sitting in the mud is "There goes Ft. Benning." I'm still shooting the match, but probably in my full length walking boot. Won't be competitive, but will have fun. Having a good thought for you.
  23. Got my M1 barrel back from guncat (Steve Rose at Rose Action Sports). He cut it to 21" to be flush with my mag extension, installed a fiber optic front sight I had laying around, and threaded it for truchokes. The work included 3 Carlson's chokes and a universal wrench. Sent it and got it back in a week. Very happy with the job.
  24. You did great. Love pawn shops, always good deals to be found, especially on shotguns. I just got my M1 barrel back from guncat. He cut it to 21", and cut it for truchokes, 3 included. Out and back in less than a week, great communication, and beautiful job, great price. I'll start a new thread w/pics after Turkey day is over.
  25. Dick's ad from Sunday past had Benelli M2 American's for $799 with a 26" barrel. Ad a Limbsaver recoil pad, a Nordic mag extension, have guncat cut and re-choke the barrel to 21", and shoot it until you feel the need to mod it more.
