  1. Why can't you cut it where you want it, and if it is between ribs, cut the rib back to the next bridge, and mount the sight there. You might have 1/2" of barrel without rib on it at the muzzle. This is how the Remington 1100 Comp. Master is set up.
  2. I too will miss these matches. I travel about an hour to Circleville, and it has been worth the drive. The stages Michael has put on have been as good as some I've shot at much larger matches. Come on you Columbus guys, someone must want to keep this going! I wish I was closer and didn't have to work weekends so often. Well, let's enjoy tomorrow, maybe we can beg him to do another. With Ft. Benning closing shop, my 3 gun schedule has big gaps this year.
  3. Are we for sure going back to one day format? I need to make vacation plans at work, and get the app in the mail.
  4. I had a Stoeger M2000. It is closer to a SBE than an M1 or M2, I'm told. The recoil spring is wrapped around the mag tube instead of in the stock. Mine was ultra reliable. It uses Benelli M1 chokes, and the bolt handle was interchangable with an M1's. Barrels were not interchangable. It was easier to load; the shell stop was easier to push shells past. I got the extended mag tube from Flatland Forge that brought capacity up to 8. A 24" barrel would be flush with it. I also got a Limbsaver recoil pad. They sell the M2000 with a 24" barrel, but mine was 28". I was going to get the 24" barrel, but got a great deal on an M1S90, and sold it. I dug up an old thread where Benny Hill called it good to go, and had modified one for 3gun. I wouldn't mind having another for a backup to my Benelli. Usually good prices to be found on gunbroker.
  5. This is my M1S90 that started with a 26" barrel. I had forum member Guncat cut it to 21" and re-threaded for TruChokes. The walls were too thin for any other chokes. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=118003&st=0&p=1336464&fromsearch=1entry1336464 It is flush with the Nordic +5 extension, and is cut on a barrel support. Guncat knew where to cut it to make it right, I think he has done this a time or two. I agree that 2-3" isn't a deal breaker, shoot it and see if you like it as is. I just had the money, and wanted it like I wanted it.YMMV.
  6. I got a couple RAMs from Brownells. Got one installed in my 9L with no problem. My other is a full size with the magazine safety. It is intended to be a duty gun, if our chief OK's us to carry something other than issue. I had to wrestle a little with it to get around the mag safety lever, but appeared to have it in correctly. Got the slide on, and the trigger is sticking front and back, and won't trip the sear. Took the RAM out, and reassembled. It works again, but the trigger is really gritty now and just generally feels like crap. Randy's video said it would not work on thumb safety models, so I assumed the mag safety was OK. Shed any light?
  7. At the minimum, guns, mags, ammo, eyes, ears, belts. Few years ago, a buddy and I left Dayton Ohio area for Owensboro Ky. for the state 3 gun match. Got about 20 min. from Louisville, and I realized I forgot my belt with lefthanded custom made open pistol holster hanging on it. Turned around and went back for it. When we left my house for the second time, he said, "Look at it this way, we're half way there, and haven't even left yet." I'm religious about my packing list, and found I forgot it because I never put it on the list.

    Dot Colors

The only green dot I have seen is the Docter-type optic that Primary Arms sells. It appears to be a decent sub-$100 optic, but not sure it would hold up to riding on an open gun. The lens has a reddish tint, and the green dot is very easy to pick up. I use it as a secondary optic on my open 3 gun rifle.
  9. I think that is a Bedell blast shield. Contact through Shooter's Connection.
  10. SP2 is not available here. Heard tell it is the ultimate 9major powder.
  11. Fullrace will probably speak up soon. He had an out of battery detonation couple years ago. Won't go into the gory details, but CareFlight was called. As they used to say on Night Court, he's feeling much better now!
  12. I got the Possum Hollow trimmer. It chucks up in a power drill, and indexes off the shoulder of the case. Stick the case in like sharpening a pencil, it'll stop cutting when it is trimmed to correct length. They don't have one for 30 carbine because no shoulder, but I taper crimp those and have not had any length issues with them.
  13. Dan, I know of at least 1 more revolver shooter signing up, along with probably 5 more assorted division shooters. Trying to get everyone committed to this by Sunday at Miamisburg.
  14. That is smoking reloading! Very impressive.
  15. I have an 11.5" SBR with a Noveske Pig brake, regular AR buffer and carrier. I have no reliability issues. I believe the Pig increases back pressure for increased reliability in SBR's. Bolt speed can be too fast, ripping case heads off before pressure can drop enough for the brass to extract easily. Therefore I run an o-ring on the extractor to increase tension. When I picked my barrel length for my SBR, the word was 11.5" was the magic minimum for a reliable gun, with standard DI gas parts. A buddy tried a 10.75" DI gas gun, and could not get it to be reliable. He did not mess with the gas port size.
  16. I've read the bit about 16" carbine gas being less reliable, but I've never had an "unreliable" one. They are definitely more harsh in recoil impulse. The midlength gas is smoother. Rifle gas is even smoother yet. I'd really like to try the DPMS Dissipator 16" with rifle gas. I currently have a 17" WOA with rifle gas because I dicked up the threads, and ADCO had to recut and thread it when they recontoured it under the handguards.
  17. In the RRA line, check out the Coyote Rifle or Carbine. Closer to 3gun ideal than the bull barrel.
  18. Try the B&P slugs. They are laser beam accurate, and the price can't be beat, shipped from B&P. Low recoil.
  19. Me neither, but they probably have 500+ to handle. Linda is the best there is at match admin. Hey Linda, how'd you like those dark chocolate covered coffee beans?
  20. Definitely build it. Buy the top shelf parts to your heart's content, then put it together. I know there is prestige in owning a great builder like a Noveske, or Firebird, but this is really doable at home.
  21. I have a Blackhawk Serpa and a Safariland 6377. They are open bottom, so the last 3/4" of slide sticks out the bottom. The 6377 is as fast as a regular holster, but offers good retention, which I wanted for 3gunning. Both are half the cost of a custom made Bladetech.
  22. The CavArms lowers have an A1 length stock.
  23. If I was shooting AM I would want to know what the AM winners are using compared to myself and to the PROs. Why? If I was starting out shooting a revolver in USPSA, I would want to know what Jerry Miculek was using, not what the D class winner had.
