Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hello all! Well all is put away from the inaugural SE3GC. I would like to thank all those who supported the event in any way. Words simply cannot describe how thankful I am to all of you who stuck through the venue change and short time line, but we thank you! Daniel, Greg, Joe, Sandra and I are all committed to bringing you a bigger and better match next year, look for a formal announcement around March and please block the first full weekend in December off, 5-7 December 2014 not sure if it will be 2 or 3 days, let me hear your opinion. I wrote a thank you address for the awards so I’m going to post it here for all to see, I’m not much of a writer but I didn’t want to miss anything. Thank you all!!!! This match was not as great as we had hoped, but we had a lot of challenges and difficulty and it turned out real well thanks to the dedication of the staff and sponsors. As hard as the first FB3G was to produce this event proved more difficult because of the venue change and logistics. I cannot thank each of you for being here and sticking with us through the tough times. A huge thank you to Legion OTG for stepping in at the last minute and providing this great venue! This is an amazing facility, and I hope you will look to them for your future training and facility needs. EOTech, Adams Arms and Tru-Spec signed on early and without their willing and generous support we literally could not have put this event on. Please show them support with your wallet and a round of applause. EOTech provided the operating capital to finance this event in lieu of product. You will not see them on the prize table, but the match would not have survived the venue change without EOTech and I cannot thank them enough. We recently filmed a segment for EOTech in which Tyler Payne shot a 12x16 inch target with a .338 Lapua magnum and EOTech at 1,000 yards! There products and support of our sport are amazing, please keep them at the top of the list as you shop. Adams Arms came on board as the co match sponsor and donated the side match rifle that after I handled it I had to play with. Without going into details I may or may not have messed it up a little, after Joe unmissed it up it ran like a sewing machine. It is a great rifle and made by a great group of Americans that support the heck out of our sport! I cannot say enough about the uniforms provided by Tru-Spec they are without a doubt the most comfortable pants and shirts I have ever worn for range time or the board room. If you haven’t tried Tru-Spec, or it has been a while please get a pair they will make you smile! The very first night I announced this match X-Treme Bullets and Freedom Munitions emailed then called in their support. I had not put together a sponsor letter yet, but they insisted on being stage sponsors. This response let me know we needed to bring this match back and it also gave me the drive to carry on when NSA had to back-out. X-Treme Bullets are amazingly accurate and consistent if you load I highly recommend them. If you don’t have the time or the talent to load your own, Freedom Munitions offers extreme quality at a fair price with exceptional service and availability. Please support those that support our sport. Brownell’s, I have a bit of a man crush on Brownell’s because of Larry Weeks. I can tell you I have more faith in people because of my friendship with Larry. Brownell’s stepped up immediately and did great things for the prize table. Larry constantly offered guidance and advice to help insure the match went on. Some of his help was personal, but everything was geared towards supporting the sport. Honestly if your not shopping at Brownell’s your wasting money and quite possibly a communist. Don’t be a communist support Brownell’s. Remington Defense does awesome work to support the sport and I am proud to say they worked hard to add to our prize table in spite of the sponsorship budget being closed. Remington Defense and my good friend Robby Johnson work hard to support our sport, and the new Versa Max Tactical is an excellent example of a 3-Gun shotgun. Please give Remington a try. Hear-Pro, take some time right now to get a pair of custom molded hear-Pro protection, or get a spare. If your anything like me you prefer your fingers to long-term muff wear. Hear-Pro is the perfect compromise in comfort, performance, and convenience plus it is impossible to shoot with your fingers in your ear. Hear-Pro is always a great supporter of the shooting sports; we owe it to them and our ears to try the Hear-Pro product line. Warne Tactical makes one of the best 3-Gun/ Tactical scope mounts on the planet. They support our sport by not only sponsoring events, but also helping to take the innovations and breakthroughs our shooters develop and shifting those products to the tactical market. This helps us all and increases our market reach. If you need new mounts or mounting accessories you owe it to your gun and glass to check out Warne Tactical. Black Rain Ordnance is really working to take over the 3-Gun rifle market. Their rifles run like a top and are more accurate and reliable than the operator. BRO came on board early and heavy we really appreciate the support. I encourage you to look at their high quality line-up of hard use products. SureFire has always been a great supporter of my events and 3-Gun in general. SurFire’s military team leader Don Alexander is a great American and someone I am proud to call friend. He has constantly gone above and beyond to support the shooting sports in general and 3-Gun specifically. Please look at there lights, lasers, and firearms accessories for all your needs. Lancer is a big name and has a huge following with their polymer AR magaziness. I have recently been introduced to there great line of accessories and Carbon Fiber float tubes. They can’t make you shoot better, but you will look good and your rifle will perform to its highest potential. Additionally Pact, Inc., Leupold, Stag Arms, Tiger Swan TRC, FNH USA, TacMod, Hiperfire, and AccuracyX did amazing things for the match and the prize table. Each represents the finest gear in their category and I encourage you to look at their offerings before you vote with your wallet. Longest post I've ever typed, sorry. Aaron Hampton MD SE3GC 2013
  2. Hello all! Know you may not realize it from watch this thread or the web site but things are moving forward fast and on track fora great match. Of course I would like to have the stages posted for you all to look at and stress over Andi have worked hard to get them up, but my web/ illustrated has been under the weather and busy with another project so this took a ack seat. I have every hope that they will get completed and post soon. It is absolutely my fault, but a little out of my control at this time I hope you understand and know that the stages on the ground will be completed on time and ready for your enjoyment. All refunds have been mailed, if you do not see it by Wens send me an email so i can figure out what is going on. New refunds are closed. If you have a great story or reason let me know but by now if it was a venue change decision it should have been made, and with the match so close and the wait list depleted it is a necessary step. Everything other than the stages being posted is on track and will be ready for a world class match! See you all soon!
  3. Hello everyone! I'm sorry for the delay in posting the stages, the designs went out the window last week as we walked around Legion. Originally I figured we would just modify the stages we had already designed but we just have too many options so we started over. Stretch up takes some time so probably will not be until the end of the week good news is the ammo estimate is good approximately 125 per gun including 15-20 slugs. Also do not forget to bring extra for the pistol and shotgun side match, we will provide ammo for the rifle side match, great prizes for each! I'm in Orlando right now for the International SWAT Round-Up so refunds are a little behind, if you haven't received it by today it will go out Friday. If you haven't sent your entry fee in please do so as soon as possible, and let your friends and enemies know there is space available so sign up! The lodging at Bagby State park is filling fast, if you want to stay at this amazing facility please book immediately. Thank you all for your support I look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks! VR, BigHamp
  4. Alright, finally a breather! So after much debate and budgeting... the bridge is back!! It is going to suck too! It is highly doable and fun (or funny, not certain which). There will be 3 side matches, one will be sponsored by EOTech and Adams Arms our Major Match Sponsors and Freedom Munitions! this will be a very technical short course ammo provided and winner gets the rifle optic and some ammo! Pistol side match is run what you brung and will be a cash payout. Shotgun will also be run what you brung and will give you some...lets say unique 5 stand presentations and will be a cash payout or gun. In standard FB3G style there will be a zero rang available for use all day Thursday for staff and Friday for everyone. The Legion Pro-Shop will have special pricing on 5.56, .308 Win, and 9mm ammo from the box to the pallet. All vendors will be able to sell product! This is huge because of the regulations on Fort Benning this was never an option. My dad has agreed to stay on sight and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner! You'll want good chow after shooting this match, and you'll need dinner to complement the beer each night! I know some are concerned about the weather, don't be! I have it from a good source that it will be survivable that weekend. Seriously that weekend has always been conducive to good shooting even if it killed us during set-up and tear down. When I say the FB3G crew is working this I mean it. All the heavy light they did in the past is being done for the SE3GC, we all want another great match on the first weekend of December, and world class out the gate is the only acceptable outcome! As for Sponsors the major match Sponsors are EOTech and Adams Arms. They have been overwhelming in there generosity, all shooters will be impressed! The Stage sponsors have been just as amazing and I have been contacted by most that they plan to bring MORE because of the difficulty! It is amazing how much the industry is behind this come-back. Freedom Munitions Xtreme Bullets Brownell's Remington Defense Hear-Pro Warne Scope Mounts Black Rain Ordnance Leupold Optics Gold SureFire The Tactical Medic Nightforce Optics PACT Timers There are several others that have agreed, I am just waiting on the signed agreement to come through. If your a sponsor and we have talked, shoot me an email or the agreement back so we can update. We are already at a higher value than our 3 year of the FB3G and we are smaller! Its going to be awesome even I could win something good!!! If you need a slot, register now the system will say wait list, but you'll be in the new venue has allowed for some additional spaces and some of you have not sent in your check yet, really need that done soonest to hold your place, let Sandra know it is on the way. I hate to give too much away but I am WAY more excited about the stages this year than I ever have been. The facilities at Legion allow for so many options and such great stage design that I am blowing the budget on props and building. It would have been easy to move the already designed stages to Legion and call it good, they are GREAT stages, but Legion offers more everything. Our goal has always been to give you a technical hose fest enough shooting to make the trip make sense but technical enought to make you feel like you worked for your placement, and I think we succeeded. This year we get to go from Disney Land to Disney World! yes its that big! We are behind, but so is every major match worth shooting. When you arrive you will not know it, that I promise!!! Lodging: Best available rate and place is George T Bagby State Park 330 Bagby Parkway Fort Gaines, GA 39851 877-591-5575 $70.00 a night with rate code SE3GC www.georgetbagby.com for more information 28.4 miles from Legion Days Inn Cuthbert 142 US Highway 82 East Cuthbert, GA 39840 229-732-5566 64.00 Double 59.00 single 28 miles from Legion Still working rates from Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn express in Dothan. Since we will not have a central Hotel we will post scores on line and allow email challenge that MUST be followed up with a visit in the am, email sent does not equal email received. It is your score, act accordingly. Hope this helps, I really hope it conveys our excitement. YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS MATCH!!! Thank you all, Aaron Hampton MD, SE3GC www.SE3GC.com
  5. Hi all, Man this is WAY more work than I recall! We'll as Sandra informed all via email we had to make a venue change, all things considered it is for the best. NSA had to make a business decision, and I think they made the right call. It was a 2 comma contract versus a 3-Gun match it sucks but it had to go this way. Legion adds a whole new level of awesome potential as they have more real estate to play with, and as most of you know I can not let that go to waste so we are redesigning the stages. Don't worry, full round count will go out next week for now plan on 100-125 per system with 15-20 slug. What to expect, a technical hose fest! Not overly physical but movement is involved, you will have to shoot well and fast, but you will not need wheels, and you will not confuse this match with selection! There will still be 8 stages 3 3-Gun, 4 2-Gun and 1single, all with some serious twists and surprises. You'll shoot slug to 100 yards and your rifle to 350-500 yards, but this will not win or lose the match for you. I hate that I have to ask you to trust me but over the years I think I have earned the right to ask for your trust that we will put on a match that will make you happy you came a sad if you didn't and that is a promise. I really need those who signed up but have not yet paid to send in you check ASAP. Also a few dropped out so we have slots so tell the world so we can get this event full! Check out Legionotg.com to see this amazing facility. EOTech and Adams Arms are the major match sponsor, and they came in HEAVY! We do have a full prize table, and I'll have more about our amazing sponsors soon, just know they are great! On a personal note please do not take my lack of posting here as a lack of effort or concern. I have been working on finding a job and putting this match together plus retiring, it has been a full plate. I have planned it so most other things fad out over the next week and I will then live a breath SE3GC! Thank you all for your trust and support! R, Aaron Hampton MD, SE3GC
  6. Match rules and other info uploaded to SE3GC.com http://se3gc.com/SE3GC%202013%20Rules.pdf Still room, don't miss out! BigHamp
  7. Hi all! Sorry for the brief delay in comms, we are working hard to make this agreat match and reaffirm your faith in us. The prize table is already looking AMAZING and more agreements are coming in daily. I finally got the first hotel agreement, it is SWEET which is why it took so lok. This hotel is about 2 years old and a beautiful property about 26 miles from the range, it is one of the closests and near plenty to eat and entertainment. Holiday Inn Express and Suites 3901 Victory Dr Columbus, GA 31903 Rate code is SE3 706-507-7080 Rate is $80.00 a night but I only have 55 at this rate, so please hurry. RO's no need to book at this time, I'll take care of you. I will have another hotel just as fantastic within 1.5 miles of this one but it will be at $99.00 per night, it is a Hampton Inn, but the rate will not be locked until Monday. There is no RV hook-up on site. The rules will be posted on Monday, there will be NOTHING out of the ordinary so no need to worry, in a nutshell 1 gun stage is worth 100 point, 2 gun, 125, 3 gun 150. 1 A or 2 hits to neutralize. Sign in will be available at the match hotel above on Thursday and Friday, times TBA but needless to say we will be there as late as necessary. At the range early on Friday is also an option. Any other questions post them up. Thank you all for your support and keep passing the word, still have some space available. BigHamp
  8. Wow!!! What a great response! I've been working real hard to get sponsors and the other logistics needed for this event to be great and carry on the legacy of the Fort Benning 3-Gun Challenge, but the cost has been a poor web site. Please don't think it is from lack of planning, just short on execution time. I plan to have the site up and looking nice with rules and goodies by Wens. Round counts will come a little later... As far as the admin fee goes, it was necessary to keep the cost low, most of you know me, if you don't ask somebody. If you change your mind to go hunt Mule deer, that hurts timing and staff and I need to not go in the hole. If your straight up and the situation dictates, I will give you a full refund, but I need a restocking fee to help keep the last minute fall out to a minimum. Hell once you see how tough the shooting will be a lot may want to back out! Seriously, I'm not trying to hurt your pockets. More important is register now, details to follow, but my word on this, you will get an amazing match. Trust me this year, next year I will not have to ask. BigHamp
  9. Sign in link is on match web site at www.se3gc.com Sign in goes active on 7 August @ 8:00pm EST. Good luck! Aaron Hampton Match Director 2013 SE3GC
  10. Hello all! I've been pretty busy with the response to this match!!! Absolutely not complaining, just a little surprised! I'm can' thank you all enough for the confidence you have in our ability to come back in a new location and give you a world class match, I am humbly confident that we will exceed your expectations and justify your faith! I'd advise you get your sign in figure ready... The web site is up, poorly. At least a page that is located in the proper URL is up! I'm not very artistic and my web guy is in school right now sooooo you have a page with a sign in link, and a promise to get a better site up asap and well before it is needed. I am working some VERY good rates at local hotels, with a little luck I'll have them up the week following registration, with an email going to all those that made the cut and wait list. If your exceptionally proactive the new facility is 23 minutes from the 8th Division road access point for Fort Benning, so any hotel in Columbus is suitable just allow an extra 30 minutes of travel, but you save the Entry Control Point. Please keep the questions, comments and sponsors coming! I really has been too long. Thank you, Aaron Hampton Match Director 2013 SE3GC
  11. I have been doing the math, and rechecking figures. The 2013 SE3GC will be $250.00 and Jr's will be $125.00 with a parent or guardians registration. Active Duty will also be eligible for discounts in the form of scholarships donated by sponsors. These re limited in number and are first come first considered. So far things are looking REALLY good on the sponsorship front. Signed up so far: Leatherman Tool Group EOTech Freedom Munitions Extreme Bullets Black Rain Ordnance And MANY others have requested info and are determining level! I understand some may be concerned about the match since it will not be hosted by Fort Benning... Fear not the flavor will remain and we will have a few surprises and definitely a couple treats! Please feel free to contact me here or via email with and questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you, Aaron Hampton Match Director 2013 SE3GC md@se3gc.com
  12. Hello all! It has been an exciting few days! Many sponsors are contacting me with interest so please keep it coming! The sponsor letter will not be finalized until mid week but if you email me your interested I'll get it to you immediatly. I know this match is short notice, but it needs to be done the first weekend in December seems so pointless with out an amazing match in the Fort Benning area, and with the help of our sponsors this one will be AMAZING!!!! Registration is tentatively scheduled to start at 8:00pm on 7 August so as not to interfere with any previously scheduled shooting enjoyment. The only thing better than saving a lot on car insurance is signing-up (and getting in) the SE3GC on humpday whoop whoop! We need great staff so send me or sandra an email if you want to have fun working! Thank you all again for your support I never thought I would do this without being directed, but I miss it and so do the boys. Can't wait to see you all! R, Aaron Hampton Match Director SE3GC 2013
  13. Hello all! Well as you can tell the Fort Benning 3-Gun is for all intents and purpose dead… However, now that I am retired let’s play! I am proud to introduce the South Eastern 3-Gun Challenge this year on 7-8 December at the AMAZING National Security Associates Range in Cusseta, GA. This facility is located on the back peremiter of Fort Benning and only 20 minutes from Krilling Range. NSA offers 700 acres and we are pleased to bring you this match from the same crew that brought you the FB3G for 6 years (4 of them pretty awesome with scores too ). This years’ event will offer 8 challenging stages three 3-Gun courses, four 2-Gun courses, and one 1-gun. Of course since we are not on Fort Benning, and in my typical fashion we are moving forward prior to being completely ready so some of the trade mark items like the Stryker will not be on deck, but please believe we will challenge your ability and make certain you have a great time. The stages will be challenging and some will be technical, but you don’t need to be a selection grad to successfully complete them. SE3GC 2013 will take place 7-8 Dec 2013 at NSA, Cusseta, GA (www.teamnsa.com). On-line registration will begin the first week of August. The WONDERFUL Ms. Kitty, Sandra Orvig will be leading stats and most of the old crew will be involved with some new faces added to the mix. Hotel arrangements are being made at this time. Vendors will be allowed to sell and trade in a fully climate controlled building, food will be awesome and every day will end with free beer and story telling at the range . Because I want this to be a success and have great stage on a short time-line entry’s will be limited, you already know the quality so don’t wait… I will post information here and on the new web site as soon as details are solidified. As always my preference is slow accurate info now, and a world-class event in December. Our goal, as always is to bring you a world-class event, with a great prize table, lots of surprises, and a few twists. Sponsors, the requests will be emailed out as soon as possible in the mean time if you are planning to sponsor, especially if you will require shooter slots please email fb3gunmd@gmail.com as soon as possible. Thank you all for your support, we look forward to seeing you in December!
  14. Fellow shooters, I regret to inform you that the 2011 FB3G is cancelled. This upcoming year will provide the US Army Marksmanship Unit the opportunity to assess the future of FB3G and determine whether it can meet the objectives of promoting the US Army and connecting our Army to America's people, while providing an action shooting venue "like no other" for our competitors. In its current state, FB3G meets the expectations of the competitors; however, the degree in which the participants and the American public are better informed by this event of the options and opportunities provided by the US Army remains in question. I hope to determine a proper solution and bring the FB3G back bigger and better than ever in 2012. Thank you all for your steadfast support over the last 6 years, it has truly been a pleasure. Respectfully, AARON L. HAMPTON SFC, USA NCOIC US Army Action Shooting Team
  15. Ladies and Gentlemen, finally we can say the 2010 FB3G is in the books! I hope you all had a wonderful time and are fully recovered from the festivities. My "official" thank you to all the wonderful supporters will follow soon, his one is meant to PLEASE stop the speculation. SJA's decision had nothing to do with the FB3G, it is an Army wide change in policy regarding a number of things especially non DOD personnel firing on the installation. The match was cancelled, as an official function, we formalized the BRMC and applied for a base license (with of course the FULL support of the USAMU). This license allowed the BRMC to assume all risk associated with the FB3G and engage supporters for the match, the latter was always a function of the BRMC but did not require a license. This and all events like it have a SJA review, we did not get ours in until August, as I did not see any changes forthcoming this is when we became aware of the changes. Through the USAMU Commander's support, the Ft Benning SJA's office and the Ft Benning Garrison Commander's office I was confident we would get it done, so there was no reason to inform everyone and get a million update requests. We simply made it happen. Now leave can not make you a civilian, however it does allow you to wear a different hat and perform roles in other organizations. By approving leave a commander is freeing you of your official duties (subject to recall of course). We could not perform duties as the BRMC during a function for the US Army if not on leave. Please, current and former service members alike, do not post your opinion as official if you do not know the facts, you muddy the waters and make my job more difficult. Trust, based on the fact that the match happened, and I and 4 of my pups worn a BRMC shirt that is was necessary. USPSA, NRA, WWP and all others have nothing to do with the issue at hand. All money collected goes toward the match, and when I much up the math, so does mine. Please people this is truly not your concern, I have the football, we will again handle the heavy lifting for 2011, so prepare for the first weekend in December. I plan to put the rotating chair on the bridge OVER the trench and shoot at 50 yard poppers on a par time! Awesome..... For the record, my CG has 3 Stars,Commands USAAC, helped build the Action Shooting range when he had 2 Stars, is a great American and is BA with a M9! BigHamp
