  1. Limited. Concentrate on shooting, less on reloading. Production is really not a "beginner's division". Stage breakdown is tough. Tougher when you only have 10 rds.
  2. The block that is held in the aluminum frame is replaceable. Safariland should be able to sell you a replacement.
  3. Everything everyone else has mentioned, plus a "blow out kit". Trauma scissors, Asherman chest seal, CAT tourniquet, Israeli pressure bandage, Quik clot gauze. I have a separate boo-boo kit with band-aids, Neosporin, & Tums.
  4. How you like the razor-edge they put on the thumb safety levers? Keep an eye on the extractor tension, these are notorious for losing tension. Great value for sure. You're right about the cost being a wash if you add the Dawson pads later. That's why I just ponied up & bought them complete.
  5. Found some talk about this powder in a general Vectan powder thread. Motosapian said it was very similar to Red Dot, which I love for 9mm minor. He hasn't been able to shoot much of it since that thread. Is anyone using it, and what do you think of it? Can't beat the price, and since most Alliant powders are still unavailable, I'm thinking of buying before the election.
  6. If you use a bigger magwell like the Dawson Ice or Techwell, the bigger Dawson basepad will make seating easier. If you're using the smaller S&A style magwell, the plastic stock basepad will be fine. I use the Dawson mags with Ice magwell on my DW PM9. Couldn't be happier with that combo.
  7. I noticed 38Spl. cases that splitted sooner than brass, but 9mm seemed to last the same. Most duty ammo is plated to resist corrosion better, & supposed better lubricity, & therefore more reliable. But I wouldn't pay a premium for it for our game.
  8. Rifle or pistol primers? Have you changed primers recently?
  9. I was using nickel to load minor, but got tired of sorting them, so now I just use different bullets to tell my loads apart.
  10. Alliant powders are still hit & miss, but everything else is plentiful at Powder Valley. I'd like some Red Dot 8#ers.
  11. But the heavy plated bullets are no cheaper than MG or PD bought in bulk, and you are getting a real jacketed bullet.
  12. A 140 STI/SV tube with Dawson Para extended bases hold 26 or 27. Don't know length cause it was for open, & they were shorter than 170.
  13. I'm totally uninformed about 45* mounts. What do they offer over the 90? Seems like they would be hard to zero.
  14. Hard chrome. Harder than the steel under it.
  15. Gary Stevens has one like it. I offered to buy it from him, no go.
  16. You won't know what is causing the hang up until you mark them up & see where they are dragging. I got my undersized die from Midway. I read they are more undersized than the ones Lee makes for EGW. I wouldn't think that HK chamber would be match tight. Do you have any other 9mm to see if they fit them?
  17. Lee U sizing die, Hornady seater with alignment sleeve for a straight seat, Lee FCD, Lee Bulge Buster w/9mm Makarov FCD. I'm doing all this for JUST my DW PM9 and 147 Blue Bullets. Tightest !@#$% chamber I've ever seen. All my other 9mm guns run without the Bulge Buster. Pay attention to getting the sizer down as far as possible, seating the bullet as straigh as possible, OAL not too long, and a good taper crimp,
  18. My last Springfield came with metal form 9rd. mags. Not really what you want for SS minor. Get good 10 rd. mags. I like my Dawsons, others swear by Tripp Cobra, and still others the Wilson ETM's. New mags to consider are the Chip McCormick and Brownells 10 rd. mags. To your original question, get the Dawson screw-on base pads, if you have mags with welded bases. They will work with any magwell, are shaped to fit in the box, and add a touch of weight to drop the mag quicker.
  19. I am having the same issue with Blue Bullets 147 RN not chambering in my DW PM9. I was using Lee dies in a 650. Switched to a U die, no difference. Switched to Hornady dies to see if the sleeve on the seating die would help with getting a straight seated bullet. Still was get some failures. Then I found the shell plate had some wobble. Tightened it, & got less failures. The only thing that has been 100% is running loaded rounds thru a Lee bulge buster & a 9mm Mak FCD. All my failed rounds would chamber fine in all my other 9mm guns. The DW chamber is just really tight. The Mak FCD does not touch the bullet base, so it does not size the bullet at all. Only swages the case base, as it should.
  20. I got a new digital scale today, & checked 7 of my BB 147RN, & they also were 150-151.5gr. A little extra cushion at the chrono.
  21. Maybe exposed base, lead in the comp? Just a guess. I'm using the PD 124 JHP in 9 major, buy 2k or more, get the price break. I've used regular FMJ in the past for open, but prefer a non-exposed base. For minor, currently using Blue Bullets 147 RN coated. Much less smoke than I had with SNS.
  22. 124 MG CMJ, 8.0 Sil. loaded to 1.165" shot in a KKM 5.5" barrel with a Binary Engineering Ti comp, no barrel holes gives me 173pf.
