  1. Kevin, some years ago when we were testing different duty ammo, we shot Winchester 127gr.+p+ thru an MP5 into ballistic gelatin. This load was the old Black Talon bullet, the boxes were marked LEO only, so I'm not sure if it's on the open market. A dozen of those sharp nasties in a block of gelatin was a sight to behold. I'd assume they would be similar shot thru a 9mm AR. My Oly 9mm upper handled my open gun ammo just fine. There isn't much love for the Oly pattern AR, but mine is a sewing machine. I used to shoot it at the old Oxford rifle side matches.
  2. A lot of people build it as a pistol while waiting on the stamp. I settled on 11.5", as I saw a lot of problems with lengths shorter than that with gas. The same rules of dwell time apply with SBRs. I friend had a 7" Adams Arms piston gun, but the velocity loss was huge. 55s were barely 2150fps., and it was obnoxiously loud. Having all the parts before having the stamp is constructive possession, and people have been prosecuted for it. Lots of good info for SBRs over at ar15.com.
  3. Rusty, I have that setup. It is a standard lower and FCG, with a block from Hahn that goes in from the top. It has a paddle mag release that uses STEN mags. The upper is from Olympic Arms. I had the barrel cut down to 11.5" and SBR'd it. I have two uppers for the lower that are SBR'd. I had a couple STEN mags cut down to 20 rd. to use locally before Ohio repealed the "over 30 is a machine gun" law. I'm kinda excited for PCC to happen. I've needed an excuse to shoot this upper for a while now. I've shot 115 factory, and some of my open major ammo, it eats it all.
  4. I have a 9mm Olympic Arms SBR upper that I would love to shoot in PCC. I would do it just to do something different from standard USPSA pistol matches. Same with my M1 Carbine. I like Southpaw's idea to make PCC another division. Don't alter stages to cater to it, that will be the death of it.

    Dennys

I remember buying parts & gear from Dennys in the early 90s. Then I started getting the LEO discount at Brownells. When did Dennys close up shop exactly?
  6. S&B primers are GTG for my guns, & cheap to boot. Using SR in my open gun with a 17# MS & SP in everything else. I load on a 650.
  7. My destination match is back! I shot with Hurley, he can really run an iron sighted rifle! Stages were awesome, but I'm not used to this level of a physical match. I was pretty sore by the third day. I have a list of things to work on for next year. A two day head start on sign ups is great. And I really dig my Kershaw tomahawk from the prize table. I want to thank whoever turned in my lost Oakleys on Thursday evening. I never thought I'd see them again, but they were in the stat building Friday morning. Not a scratch on them.
  8. There is the Para Pro Comp 40 too.
  9. Seems like the CZ Tactical Sport is a viable alternative to the 2011 platform.
  10. Got an email that the squads have been redone, & everyone needs to squad themselves again. Not joking.
  11. The 3 ETMs that came with my PM9 work fine but I prefer Dawsons for the built in ramp.
  12. And the phone # to call if you are late for registration to avoid a $100 charge is still all x's.
  13. The match page said 287 is the longest steel target at the sight in range. I think the match will have longer shots.
  14. We've shot out to 450 in past matches. I shot that far, didn't hit anything.
  15. Because this thread is about bullet sales, not what bullet is best. Plenty of those threads already out there.
  16. That is a nice feature with these mags, that the spacer isn't tack welded in place. Try it and let us know if it works.
  17. Primers were running $28-30/k at the gunshow today, before tax, so when I got home I ordered 10k S&B from Cabelas. Free shipping, but tax & haz mat came out to $25/k. Not bad.
  18. Hard chrome for a high round count competition gun. Chrome is harder than the steel under it. AP&W will disassemble a complete gun for a charge.
  19. I bought a used Dan Wesson Pointman 9 yesterday. Locks up like a bank vault door. Slide feels like it rides on ball bearings. No perceptible play in the barrel hood, bushing to slide or barrel to bushing. Safety has the best fit and engagement on any factory 1911 I've ever felt. Frankly this gun blows any STI I've ever owned out of the water. I'd assume the Pointman 7 in 45 would be the same.
  20. Of the powders in your first post, those suitable for open, as mentioned, are WAC and HS6, but also Silhouette. I liked my Silhouette open loads, but HS6 was easier to get. Precision Delta are a bargain when ordering 2k or more at a time, $89/k for 124 JHP. Pick your bullet, and try all 3 of those powders. You may like one over the other. A recent look at Powder Valley shows a lot of powders are available again.
  21. Reshoots are either legal or they aren't. Why do you feel the right to determine whether you'll "approve" them or not, outside of the orderly running of the match? Why someone wants to reshoot is frankly none of anyone's business.
  22. Saucony TR8 trail shoes. Soft enough rubber to grip well inside.
  23. I had a RIA Pro Match. Good LTD. gun for the money. One of the most accurate 40's I've ever owned. Para P16 mags worked in mine, as did STI and old style SV. The factory mag is from ACT, and are available from Greg Cotelle. Mine had checkered front strap, nice adjustable rear sight, steel magwell, I just wasn't going to shoot limited anymore and sold it.
  24. Wideners has Armscor brass jacketed 124 FMJ for $170/2k with free USPS Priority Mail shipping. I just ordered 2k.
