  1. Shade as often as possible. Umbrella, shirt, towel, anything to keep the sun off of it.
  2. Yes they can reload but CBC has a monopoly on all components meaning junk powder and hard primers.
  3. I live in NE Polk County (30 min from Disney) and can pretty much find a match every weekend within a little over an hour drive (Universal Shooting Academy 35 min one of the best facilities in the country with 2 matches a month, Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club (E. Orlando) 1 hr, Wyoming Antelope Club - {WAC} Pinellas Park, Volusia 1.5 hrs, St. Augustine a little over 2 hrs. and Hansen in Punta Gorda about 1.5 hrs away. I also have weekly Tuesday & Friday night matches (WAC) Okechobee is also about 2 hrs. Not sure about USPSA there but I have been to a GSSF match there. Metro Orlando gives you lots of options and if you're anywhere west of the city it opens up Metro Tampa pretty easily They do run USPSA at Okechobee now. Third Saturday of the month and the buffet makes it worth it. I'll have to check that out sometime. Also you can do "qualification" to rent out a bay by yourself for training. $35 to use all of their "competition" stuff. Rifle range, cowboy range, pistol range. A few of us local guys just did it this past Saturday after the match and it only took an hour and a half maybe. Worth it for us since we don't have much in the options for actual training grounds. That sounds like a good deal. Is it a class you have to take there? I was just wondering if they require it regardless since I'm a NRA Instructor / CRSO and a NROI RO. Ive been to a few other ranges where they don't require their class to rent if you already have credentials equal or better than what they do in their class. I've been to a couple that just required a quick orientation specific to their policies Honestly the class was a joke. It seemed more like the instructor was using the time to sell his "tactical" classes he holds. They even made Lesgar "speedy" Murdock, a GM, take the class. You have to call them and set it up though. I think they are holding them once a month now after the monthly USPSA match.
  4. Safari has been having issues with my local group. Chrome and IE are working fine.
  5. Start minor, end minor. Start major, still end minor. You cannot go up in PF during a match. Scoring would be WAY too hectic.
  6. Not just that, locally some shooters have been having many problems with Magtech lately. Bullets not chambering, bang bang poof bang loads. I have a feeling that there with be quite a few issues with ammo and guns at this match.

  8. Unless you have experience fitting barrels to slides I would get a reputable gunsmith to do the work. Why would you "upgrade" to 38 super? The masses are going the 9 route. You have the right idea on what you need but you could also go with a bushing compensator. But I would do what Atlas said, borrow a rig from a local person. That way you have the actual owner who can give some advice on the matter as well. Good luck and be safe.
  9. I wasn't there for that steel match. I heard about what happened. Trust me it is usually more well run. If you do come back out just ask me and I am sure we can find an SV to put in your hands. I'm the tall asian dude usually running registration.
  10. Yes, this is per case of 1,000 rounds. CBC/Magtech have a 100% monopoly on all munitions in the country. Primers, powder, brass all of it are made or imported by them. As such they can do what they want.
  11. You are supposed to get RM approval before you change. Once you change you chrono again. If you shot major and now you shoot minor ALL of you shot stages must be shot major if they "failed" chrono ALL are scored minor.
  12. Come down to Markham park for a match and I'm sure one of the locals will let you fondle some infinitys.
  13. How much do you shoot? A few of the local guys just go to walmart or Bass pro and buy whatever they have in stock. low recoil, full power. Indiscriminate. If you shoot enough you might be better off buying online and in bulk. Personally I like the Remington low recoil stuff. Cycles in every gun. The Fiocchi's have trouble cycling certain ones.
  14. What Kevin said. melt the rod into the hole.
  15. Have to dry the hands as well. Shooting in Florida is ALWAYS humid out.
  16. Did any one else notice this before the patient?
  17. I have really long arms. When I shoot SS i have to bend my elbow quite a bit to reach the gun. So I run a DOH whenever possible.
  18. 5 year necromancy. But I do wonder if the consensus would have changed from a Sphinx to an Accu or a Stock.
  19. First year period or first year in SS? One is just a learning curve the other is a very steep learning curve.
  20. What platform? On a Glock the 10mm frame and mags are bigger so you can load them loader.
  21. As compared to what? Every piece of raw material goes into SVI as raw stock. They machine everything in house. To some it is worth it and to others it's not. My opinion is see if you can borrow one and I promise you nothing else can compare.
  22. Home gunsmiths breaking out the dremel has got to be one of the biggest causes right behind ammo issues.
  23. I shoot Tac Irons and Limited. Both with a dot on 16 inch rifles. As long as I know my dopes I have gotten consistent hits out to 400 yds.
