  1. Like open said, better now than during. Beg and plead. I'm sure you can find a buddy to borrow a gun.
  2. Did the gun discharge before the start signal? No, then I don't see a problem. Might make a few RO's uncomfortable but shouldn't get you DQ'ed.
  3. 500 rounds a month is not much, is that number ever going to increase? I think about reloading machines no much like I do as gun safes. Buy it in the capacity of what you want not what you currently have. You will get the use out of a 650. Hell I love having the auto index on my 650.
  4. I live in NE Polk County (30 min from Disney) and can pretty much find a match every weekend within a little over an hour drive (Universal Shooting Academy 35 min one of the best facilities in the country with 2 matches a month, Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club (E. Orlando) 1 hr, Wyoming Antelope Club - {WAC} Pinellas Park, Volusia 1.5 hrs, St. Augustine a little over 2 hrs. and Hansen in Punta Gorda about 1.5 hrs away. I also have weekly Tuesday & Friday night matches (WAC) Okechobee is also about 2 hrs. Not sure about USPSA there but I have been to a GSSF match there. Metro Orlando gives you lots of options and if you're anywhere west of the city it opens up Metro Tampa pretty easily They do run USPSA at Okechobee now. Third Saturday of the month and the buffet makes it worth it.
  5. Figure out if you want to move to an open type loading before you get the port opened for duals or quads. But a longer tube for now should suffice.
  6. As the others have said it's a reshoot. Glad you caught it. Hearing damage is a very serious issue with shooters.
  7. Buckets, plenty of buckets. I got a set of calibre sorters, the ones that you put in a bucket and shake it around. I use that for my media separator since it is much easier to just rattle it round and pour it back into the tumbler. Having spare buckets makes sorting much easier too. Any reason you are set on the 550? Quite a few people I know usually outgrow it and jump to the 650 as soon as their wallets allow.
  8. If you watch closely, there is a competitor wearing a blue mask. Second run through I found three total. They are usually more rampant there.
  9. They didn't show all of it. The previous steel videos I've seen from that range most of the guys have filter masks on because of the lead and smoke in the air.
  10. In open what loading system for the shotgun are you going to use that makes a world of a difference as to your recommendations. Are you going to put a dot on it?
  11. We had a local kid do our RO class at 13 or so with his dad. Started running shooters the next local match and had to go reference the 10.5 rules. Don't underestimate a kid with a good knowledge of the rules.
  12. I had a lnl without a case feeder, now I have a 650 with a case feeder. Honestly I was almost add quick with the Hornady as I am with the 650. It's just that blue kool-aid gets to you. Honestly with the primer pockets on military 223 I would go all in a 1050. Less to worry about.
  13. It's inspirational to see anyone improve regardless of age. Don't think that just because you started late in life that you can't improve on the same scale. Know your limitations and improve on them.
  14. Stay out of Florida in the summertime. It's always humid here.
  15. Supply and demand, only foreigners and military are shooting 9mm and the military guys get free ammo. Getting ammo into the country is a hassle so it will get sold at that absurd price since the firearm permits have already been applied for.
  16. Brasil is one of those countries where NATO designations for ammo are outlawed. 9mm illegal, .556 illegal, 7.62x51 illegal. But 38 super, 9x21, 9x23, .223, and .308 are all fine to own for some reason.
  17. Just got the price list for the match ammo for this years Pan American Handgun Championship. Take a gander below. Check the VALOR USD column for The dollar price. And this is for CBC which makes Magtech.
  18. We have a very unique set up but we put on a scheduled 90+ matches a year in Broward. Only an hour and change to the east of you at Markham park. Check us out at www.SFPC.org
  19. Check out the WAC over in Clearwater. Just across the water from you guy.
  20. We shoot Steel challenge and USPSA at OK. The food and the a/c'd bathrooms make the drive worth it.
  21. Hey TDA, where are you located. OSS is a nice range but OK Corral is nicer in my opinion. I shoot down in Broward but have experience with most of the S.FL ranges.
  22. Thanks for the info, so far I don't have a holster. The gun was a deal I couldn't pass up and now I'm just trying to find a use for it. Gonna shoot it in a few matches and if I like it gonna modify it. Order one for a G24/17L I had to mod a bladetech to fit mine in it.
  23. Doesn't matter if you are new to the sport or if you were there in the beginning. Safety should always be #1, your scores will be better next time. Slow down and be aware of what you are doing. The rest will come later, is like riding a bike.
