  1. For the 124gr Matchwiners I have: 135PF+ range 3.9 grs TG or 4.3 grs HP38/W231 Seated at 1.110” 1060-1080 FPSish out of a G 34/17/19 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. In that case. Leupold DPP. I have the one with the triangle. Forgot the exact MOA size. Don’t think I’d want it for for carry, but love it for carry optics comp stuff. Big glass glass. Easy to pickup for. Probably be a good one to learn on, and there is for sure a learning curve to using red dots. Once you get it you’ll be way faster and more accurate than with irons, but I see quite a few people try it, get frustrated, and go back to iron sights. Keep an eye on optics planet and DVOR. You can get them on sale discounted. Also see a few on the classified here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I have always had RMR’s, but I picked up a Holosun 508T on Black Friday sale for under $300. It’s on my P80 G19 carry gun. The 507/508 use the RMR mounting pattern. Honestly, I can’t see spending over $100 more for a RMR again. After a couple months of hard use and testing it’s won me over. Not saying RMR’s aren’t still at the top of the heap. They most likely still are. Just saying in my opinion, and the opinion of many others, the higher end Holosuns are on par, and sometimes several hundred dollars less. I have heard the Holosuns were a little difficult to deal with warranty wise initially, but those that have had to warranty them as of late have had zero issues. I haven’t has to use the warranty yet. Check out Arron Sage’s review on YouTube. The Holosuns are one of the few red dots he recommends for EDC. I believe Holosun also released an updated 507/508 at shot show with the battery compartment in the side so you no longer have to remove the dot to change the battery. As far as the multi reticle goes, not sure it has as much use on a pistol as it does on the larger 510/512 mounted on a rifle. I’ve messed with it a little, but it takes up so much of the glass on the 507/508 I find it a little distracting. I need to work with it a little more though. It may be good for super close quarter “oh crap” situations where you just need the gun on target quick with very little aiming. But who knows how practical that is? I have a 512 Green Dot that I also picked up on Black Friday mounted to a PCC. That thing is amaze balls. And I LOVE the multi reticle on that thing. So fast. It’s not as though the Holosuns are “cheap”. They are still expensive red dots. But they are considerably less expensive than the RMR’s. Not matter which direction you go if it’s for EDC I’d stick with a proven model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. AA#7 It’s still a +P load, but 7.1 grs out of a G19X has both Winchester JHP and Hornady XTP’s going almost 1100 FPS. That’s max loaf according to Western. I’m guessing you could dial that back a little and stay around 1000 FPS. Seated at 1.150” BTW. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Their 115 gr Mini Matchwinner is one of my favorite bullets. I asked Jake, the owner, about a 147 gr JHP and he said there were no plans to produce one. He gave me a reason why, it was technical and had to do with production, but I can’t remember exactly what it was. But he seemed pretty sure they would not be producing a 147 JHP. This was back around Christmas when we traded emails. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I just emailed them the other day with same question. 1.160” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. During the shortages of the Obama years I purchased components every time I found them at or bellow “normal” street prices (which was possible if you were patient and willing to buy in bulk). Now, almost 10 years later much of that stuff I’m still working my way through, and even though I purchased during the shortage, because I purchased wisely I saved myself money in the long run because the cost of everything has gone up so much. On the flip side, the cost of factory ammo has come down so much, you gotta reload a ton to make it worth it if you’re just doing for financial reasons. I’m not, but if that’s you’re reasoning, it’s tough reasoning these days. Go figure.
  9. All valid points. If you aren’t already, try a little Hornady One Shot. That “THUNK” you feel and hear when the case gets pulled out of the powder expander should go away.
  10. Are you not expanding at the powder drop? Sorry. I know it’s not what you asked. Have you considered the Mr Bullet funnel? I ask because if you are the Mr Bullet powder funnels are just about the best thing out there. Especially if you are using mixed range pick up 9MM brass I was having issues with inconsistencies in belling with the Dillon powder funnel. Some we belled too much and some not enough. Switched to the Mr Bullet and all the issues went away. And now that I actually have a Mr Bullet it works out perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Finally. Another Silhouette guy. I have 8 pounds still, it I’m give MP a try when it’s done. Thanks for the info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. They really aren’t that much more expensive. If you buy in bulk, you’re talking maybe $2-3 per thousand. I also only order once or twice every couple years when the top manufacturers are having their big yearly sales. (Everglades, RMR, PD) I understand that everyone has different personal definitions of cost, but to me that’s why I switched from coated/plated bullets to FMJ/JHP. So much cleaner and accurate for a small increase in price. As an example, RMR 115 Mini-match winners are 4000/$300(.075/each). One of the most accurate rounds I’ve created in 9MM BTW. 115 RMR plated round nose are available in a max amount of 2000/$152 (.076/round) RMR’s 115 JHP is billed as a multipurpose round and about $12/thousand more. But RMR’s 1115’s when purchased by the case are only about $6 more per thousand. I don’t know much about coated but it looks like blue bullets (which I hear are the cats meow) case of 3900 115’s are $247 so you save about $4/thousand. Obviously I haven’t tried the blues but other coated I tried, while cleaner than straight lead, we still a little messy and smokey. To each his own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Man I wish I didn’t have so much TG / HP38! I still have about 6 pounds of each left. I really wanna try some of these Shooters World Powders but I just justify buying any more powder right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Agreed. Nothing is true all the time, but the difference really is negligible. I had to shorten some 9 MM major rounds from 1.155” to 1.130” to get them to fit a magazine I wanted to try. My son was shortening the rounds on my 650 for me and the seating die came loose. Some of the rounds got shortened all the way to 1.090”. The increase in velocity was less then 10 FPS tested across about 40 rounds. And that was with a round packed FULL of powder. I was a little surprised it made so little difference. 15. I have a Gucci Gen 3 with a Agency Arms Barrel. So it’s not apples to apples but after years of trying different loads, my most accurate load in almost all my 9MM’s across the board is: 4.3-4.4 grs TG with RMR MiniMatch Winner 115 FMJ seated to 1.090” Or 4.6-4.7 grs HP38/W231 with same bullet same COAL. Gives me 1170ish FPS out of stock length barrel. In the 124 JHP it’s 3.9 grs of TG or 4.3 grs of HP38/W231 seated to 1.100”. Yields just under 1080 FPS give it take. I’m the 147 gr plated round nose it’s 3.4-3.5 grs TG seated to 1.135”. Yields 960ish FPS. 147 FMJ and JHP need a little more powder to reach same velocity and give acceptable accuracy. I have good luck with 124’s as well, but just not as good as with the 115’s. Same story with RMR PRN 147’s. They’re good but the 115’s are better. I’ve found I need to push the 124’s up into 145-150 Power Factor range to squeeze the same performance out of them that I get with 115’s in the 135ish PF range. Also tried every COAL under the sun. As general rule of thumb unless you running some platform that needs it shorter is better. Another guy this forum, Daryl, did an extensive research project on COAL and found shorter was typically better as well. At least in plastic service type pistols. Same holds true for the 135ish Power Factor. Of course nothing is true 100% of the time but usually that power factor range is where you will find optimum accuracy and performance. BTW Titegroup is one of the dirtiest powders ever. HP38/W231 is better but still dirty. They are both tried and tested powders and they work great, but man do they foul up your guns. When I run out I’m going to try some of that Shooters World Powder. I hear it’s much clearer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Agreed. I went all the way down to 115’s as too pack in as much powder as possible so as to create as much as gas as possible. I have no scientific evidence that’s how it works but that’s my story band I’m sticking too it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Are you looking at the Match Winners (flat point) or round nose? I assume Flat point. I can’t speak to the coal in the newer pistols, but I can speak to their customer service. They have a money back love it or leave it policy. I ordered some 135 match winners to try and couldn’t get them to shoot well despite multiple powders and coal’s. They took them back and gave me credit towards different bullets. Couldn’t have been easier. So, maybe just try a few and see. They make excellent projectiles no matter which profile you end up choosing. Their 115 gr mini match winners are one of my favorite bullets of all time. And I use their 115 JHP in my open gun. Fabulous billets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. It’s called the Bald Eagle Powder Scale. Best kept secret in reloading. They are getting harder and harder to find. I was turned onto it by a precision rifle message board. Measures powder out to the 100th vs 10th (0.00). They used to be over $100. Think I got mine on sale for around $70-80. Looks like they can be had for $50 now! I use it for everything, but it’s awesome for measuring precision rifle loads down too a single kernel of powder. It’s not a multi thousand dollar scientific scale but it’s 8/10ths of one for 1/100th the price. Do a little research on it. I think you’ll like what you find. I did. https://www.grizzly.com/products/Bald-Eagle-Powder-Scale/BE1188 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Agreed. My 115’s are screaming along at 1400+ FPS through an 11 port comp. I can’t imagine shooting that load with out the comp. Maybe I’ll try it in one of my other 9’s one day when I’m feeling froggy. I’m sure it would be fine, but I wouldn’t want to shoot a ton that way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I think you might have a tough time making enough gas to run the comp with the 147’s and a small charge of powder. No matter how low you go on the spring. I have tried a 10lb spring on glocks before when searching for a steel challenge load, but anything less than 11-12lbs has a tough time returning the gun battery constantly. With that comp you can for sure get 124’s to run, but you might even try 115’s and use a little more powder. You will make more gas and the comp will work more efficiently and effectively as designed. I can’t comment on that powder as I haven’t used it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I have a 650 decked out with case feeder and Mr Bullet feeder. I have about 10 of each primer tube that I fill with a vibra prime. I have tool heads for every caliber. Change overs are quick. It makes ammo as fast as I can pull the handle. I use my 550 for load work ups and precision rifle stuff. The bullet feeder makes all the difference. I load all my high volume pistol stuff and high volume 223/300 BLK on the 650 as well. I have several tool heads dedicated to 223/300 BLK case creation and prep. When making/preping 300BLK/223 cases I use the Armanov swager pro. https://armanov.com/eu-shop/armanov-products/swager-pro-for-dillon-xl650/ I think I have to agree if you’re gonna automate the 1100 is the way to go. For me the the deal breaker wasn’t so much cost of the 1050/1100, but complexity of caliber changes (and I guess cost a little bit), and space. If I was gonna do a 1050/1100 it would be a dedicated machine due to the stated complexity (and cost) of caliber changes. And I just don’t have the space to have multiple dedicated 1050/1100’s, a 650, and a 550. For 223/300 BLK the 1050/1100 is the way to go, but I had to compromise somewhere. 23. I don’t own a Legion, but if I remember correctly in one of the original “Legion Threads” on here, right before or right when they were released, many of the new owners were commenting on the lose fit of the gun compared to the original X5. I remember the title of the thread or what the outcome ended up being, but maybe just search for Legion threads and I guessing it would be one of the first ones since it was rather recent. 24. I listened to the podcast that was suggested. Sounded logical. Switched all my optics guns to 12 yards. Gonna give it a shot and see how it works. I was at 10 yards before so not a huge difference. I too like that at closer distances there isn’t much difference. I did notice a little more difference in the open gun cause the optic sits higher. 25. No problem. Same here. I just updated cause I was bored on a trip. [emoji23] If you were starting today and just concerned about cost savings it might be a little tougher choice than it was 10-12 years ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
