Ah ha! Here's the thing, the 929 doesn't really do anything that a 627 can't. BUT if you are new to revo, an 8 shot 9mm is a rest way to go. Let's face it, short Colt brass is a pain to find, 9mm load data and variety of bullets are greater. Plus the 6.5 barrel is SWEET. So yeah if you are all set with a 627, no need to change. If not, 929 time! Exactly correct. I'm disapppointed with S&W for the huge delay in delivering on the 929 promise. Their initial timing was excellent (introducing the model at the exact moment that USPSA began allowing 8-minor), but by the time the guns are actually available, some of the momentum will have been lost. I agree Carmony. Last spring I had folks that shoot other divisions asking if I could get them one. The excitement over the 8-shot guns has definitely died down. We don't even have 627's to offer them. I don't think I've seen a 8-shot in the shop since all this crap blew up almost 2 year ago. We stocked them regularly before that.

Interesting thread. Is this common with the 1050? Us revolver shooters are stuck with federal primers. They're the only thing that goes bang in a tuned revolver.

I know availability is crazy will S&W, but if you're primarily doing uspsa and want to stick with minimal modification get a 5 inch 627.I own a couple TRR8 guns, they are great but too light for USPSA in my opinion....it'll work, but better options out there I don't own one, but I've worked on a few and I've always liked the forward balance of the TRR8. Shooting minor I don't believe there's a recoil disadvantage.

I shot the snubby with .357 ammo. There was no muzzle lift, it was really cool. On the other hand, the trigger pull was heavier at the beginning than at the rear. This made it very difficult to shoot quickly and accurately. I'm intrigued by the possibilities of running one of these in ICORE classic division, but I'm waiting for a used one to come through the ship at the right price.

HHF of 8 in Revo you say? I shot a 5.8269 on Sunday, that would make my run a 72%. That sounds about right for me with an 8-shooter.

actually the DAA do have a muzzle platform now, but it is optional so you can chose to run it or not. That's new. It must be to combat the rattle on some guns where there is variance in the shape of the trigger guard. My older 625 doesn't fit as nicely as my 627.

Nice part. Very well made. I want one too, but it's not necessary to lighten your trigger pull. My revo runs 100 percent at 6 pounds with federal primers and a stock hammer. I could probably go lighter but I don't like the feel. I went back to 6.25 lbs because I find it easier to run quickly.

I started with a rock island a few years back. Once I tightened up the rail fit a little bit it became obvious that the slide was machined crooked. The slide was dragging on the dust cover hard. I picked it up on sale for $400, and I would have been better off putting that into a Springfield.

I tried Berry's in my .38 special and found them to be a little undersized as well.

Does Blade Tech make one that fits?

After using the Wiegand rear blade for a year and a half I'm back to a stock blade. The Wiegand gives a nice sight picture, but is far too fragile. Twice it bent down causing my gun to shoot low. When I removed it, it was cracked where it fits onto the sight body. I now modify the factory blades to fit my tastes. I have not used a Bowen, but I'm curious. I prefer a .140 rear notch with a .125 front. I do not know if I can get this with a Bowen rear. Edited for spelling.

The undercut beneath the rim of Winchester brass is narrower. The thicker more rigid clips will simply not fit.

What powder do you use?

I installed a C-more slide ride on a customers 627 with a BMT kickstand mount. It put the dot very close to the position of the iron sights. I thought it pointed very well.

If you're willing to go back to single stack magazines, I'm in.

I traded mine away. I couldn't find any speedloaders for sale, best I can tell they haven't been made in years. And more importantly for a competition gun, many of the specialized internal parts are not available. Mine was relegated to the role of safe queen, so now I have a 5" 625.

The revolvers with capacities above 6 are not welcome in IDPA. A 6-shot 686 with a 4" barrel will fulfill all of your requirements. Any of the k frame guns will work too, but they share the same grip frame and the 686's are stronger. Just remember 4" barrels are the longest allowed in IDPA.

Elmer Keith's old 44 special load made 300 PF. Somewhere in the mid 200's is probably appropriate.
