  1. How hard are you pushing on the open cylinder? Moon clips drop in under their own weight.
  2. Both my SIG P226s were 2 oz less than their listed weight. I'm to understand that there are guns on the list that weigh more than 2oz over the factory weight when new because no one at the factory weighed a gun when filling out the paper work. My area director tells me that they have not been successful in getting these problems corrected. If we can't get some sales guy to care enough to provide us a decent weight, how do you propose to get good pictures of each side of every gun on the list? Some aren't even made any more.
  3. #1: Yes there is. Pistols that de-cock to half cock generally have firing pin blocks. My P226 does, and the de-cocker CZs have firing pin blocks. The shadow series of CZs do not. Without a firing pin block, the gun can fire if the hammer falls from half cock. This can happen thru dropping the gun on the hammer. #2: When your hammer is all the way down, the firing pin is generally not long enough to reach the primer. If you drop your non-hammer block gun on the hammer it can't go Bang when it's flat against the frame. #3: I see no value in this. Buy a different gun.
  4. I spoke to my area director. He said the 4oz change is because some manufactures have provided inaccurate weights. Evidently, some new unmodified factory pistols are more than 2oz overweight.
  5. I dunno. I've never shot a stage on a boat before.
  6. Unless you were an RO. Do you know what all the small parts look like on the more obscure position guns?
  7. https://uspsa.org/bod_minutes "Motion by Area 8, second by Area 7 to approve amended Appendix D4 as provided. Roll Call Vote: A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6 by proxy, A7, A8, President-YES Motion passed." "Changes subject to USPSA Bylaw 16.2, and will be effective 3 months from the published date of these minutes for Production Division. CO changes will be effective immediately, and were made prior to removal of provisional status." Changes listed here: https://uspsa.org/documents/minutes/20180209%2017b%20Change%20Log%20App%20D4.pdf Thoughts?
  8. While someone will probably point one out, I can't think of any common hammer fired guns that don't have a half cock notch. The primary purpose of the half cock is to catch the hammer if the sear slips out of the full cock notch. It keeps the gun safe in the case of a malfunction.
  9. The Colts are great unless you like to shoot double action...
  10. I don't shoot IDPA, but I can't measure any difference in my splits between my 625 loaded major and my 627 loaded minor. I think I'd rather shoot a 625 than a 686.
  11. Alaskan454, you shoot all the weird revolvers don't you?
  12. From Appendix D4: Maximum weight: Yes, 2 ounces with empty magazine inserted over weight listed on approved pistol list
  13. Appendix d4 specifically allows aftermarket base pads. I would be more concerned about pinching the skin on my little finger with those base plates. If your finger is near the gap on the front strap when you seat a mag with a gap filler...... Ouch.
  14. You can shoot all year for what it costs for a weekend worth of race tires.
  15. No they lifted that when they created limited 6. I don't care for the 7 shot guns. They're useless in competition, and there are limited speedloader options if your want to carry one.
  16. I'm registered for Area 3 so that makes for 3 revo shooters right now. Anyone else interested in going? I'm registering for revo in all my major matches this summer. Gotta be seen to keep the division.
  17. You get used to whatever you have. I shoot a 226 in production. I pulled out the single stack a couple weeks back for a break and after a few draws the sights were right there waiting for me.
  18. I'll take the MIM parts all week over the machined parts they were putting in the guns in the 80s.
  19. I believe the ruling regarding switching it back to a pistol is a result of the court decision regarding the Thompson Center contender. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Thompson-Center_Arms_Co.
  20. I've never shot a Ruger on the clock, but the cylinder release has never bothered me. I reload strong hand and the same motion I use on a Smith seems to mash the Ruger release just fine. I could see it being a reach if you don't change hands when you reload.
  21. Competition gun? What would you shoot with a 7 shot L frame? Uspsa, IDPA and ICORE are really a no-go. Steel challenge?
