  1. I believe the IDPA crowd allows local rules....
  2. Your hundred year old Smith uses a completely different retention screw design for the yoke. The old design requires hand fitting of the screw, and requires the correct screw to be put into the front sideplate hole on reassembly. I've worked on a lot of old guns with the hand-fit yoke screw put into the wrong sideplate hole. The current S&W yoke screw design is a copy of the old Colt system. It works great unless excess force is used at the back of the cylinder. Only have to push it out once to damage the yoke, then it pops out easier. If you have a small notch in the edge of the V-groove, it didn't leave the factory that way.
  3. They are now. Download the USPSA app, all the newest appendices are listed there. The next ruleset will be only published digitally.

  5. What the hell is a "thumb assist?"
  6. Why didn't you ask to speak with the range master?
  7. The double action trigger weight isn't the determining factor, the amount of spring weight on the hammer is. The weight of the trigger is linked to the weight of the hammer, but there's more to it than that.
  8. I tried to arbitrate when I was given procedurals for following the stage description not the designers "intent." In the end they dropped the procedurals.
  9. Yes, and my point was that Rob wears his moonclips behind the left hip the same as his single stack magazines. If it's fast enough for a USPSA championship, it's fine for any IDPA match in America.
  10. I would agree with stripping it down once a year, but it depends on usage. Shooting 10k a year my revo was ready for a clean each year before our ICORE regional. Now, shooting a lot of production, I could probably go two years. It is good to go thru the gun periodically looking for problems, but our guns are sealed up pretty well. Most of the dirt inside mine appears to be powder residue that blows in thru the slot for the hand.
  11. Is your hip in a different location than a shooter of more typical proportions?
  12. Gas cutting is a self-limiting problem. It slows down as the surface gets further away from the cylinder. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  13. Do the sights track like you need them to? If so, wash your hands after shooting. If not, move hands to where you need them to be. Shooting revo, I'm used to dirty thumbs. The cylinder gap can be messy. On target performance is more important than clean hands. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  14. I'm currently using the 158 grain round nose from S&S Casting because it has a crimp groove. I do prefer a roll crimp. That said, my 625 runs just fine with a taper crimp. My 627PC has the chambers chamfered from the factory and needed to modification. Is your cylinder chamfered? It doesn't take much, just enough to clear the thickness of the case. Could it be something else? During dry fire recently I noticed the moon clip was hanging up on the cylinder release. I use a SDM cylinder release, the checkering is very sharp and comes all the way to the edge. I put a slight radius on the edge of the release and my reloads are more consistent. I've been chasing a problem with my reloads hanging up intermittently for several years, and this solved it for me. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  15. Tape on the front of the optic. The dot will still show up but function as an occluded eye scope. Your weak eye will fill in the missing part of the image for your brain. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  16. Leatham wears his moon rack in that position. He was fast enough to win USPSA revo Nationals a couple times, should be fine for IDPA. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  17. Which revolver? Which caliber? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  18. "May have" is not the same as "Must have" Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  19. Keep the core warm and the blood keeps flowing to the extremities. I wear a down vest over my jacket when I'm taping. I add fingerless gloves and hand warmers in the vest pickets as necessary. When it gets into the 20s for setup, long underwear helps too. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  20. I've never kept track, but I'm way over 30k rounds and a similar about of dry fire. Never changed a single part since I set up the gun. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  21. You guys are over thinking this. If you want to shoot limited minor for one monster match, have fun. It'll likely be mostly hoser stages anyway, so minor is less if an issue. That said, isn't the point of a monster match to do more of everything? We have one locally. The limited guys love it, "you have to use 4 magazines." These are the same people who won't shoot production at a typical match because they have to use 4 magazines. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  22. I gave all my Winchester brass away a few years ago. It's not very well suited for moonclip use, too small an undercut.
  23. This is what I'm running. I bought the moonclip server this summer on a whim. I like it -way- more than I thought I would. It makes the last reload of the stage as fast as the first. It's a little slow to load, so you need to pair it with a couple Kydex posts. I have the Kydex holders behind the hip. I only use them at make ready and on those stages where all your clips start on the table. The moonclip server is on sale. I hope he's not done with making them http://www.moonclipserver.com
  24. I think the bigger deal is the fact that the cylinder notches peen less with titanium cylinders. Wish I had one for the 625.
