  1. Have you ever shot slow fire groups, weak hand only? Leave the timer at home, take a hundred rounds to the range and make them count. Put some dry fire reps mixed in with them. I shoot at 7 to 10 yards. Weak hand requires patience on the trigger. The gun moves around more, it takes longer to settle after recoil, but it does this for everyone. Squeeze the trigger, the trigger is way more important than sight picture.
  2. Riding the bike on the trainer indoors... It's my off season goal to have less of me around for next season.
  3. You just need to shoot a different division.
  4. With the magwell it's legal in open....
  5. I just got an email this morning that the revolver hammers are on sale at Apex if any of you guys were looking at one. Today only, 12/12/18.
  6. The manufacturer has to submit each model for review.
  7. I see no problem with this. If the manufacturer thought it was necessary to include a safety, it should be used unless the gun is decocked. Hell, I'm a revolver shooter and even I can remember that when ROing shooters.
  8. The intention of the rule is to ban spring loaded pouches that push the mags forward as you pull them out.
  9. 38 +p is still a very low pressure loading. Smiths are modern guns, and built from steel they should last for tens of thousands of rounds. Rugers are nearly indestructible. Colts are obsolete. Parts are no longer available for the Colts and the factory has ceased to service them, they should be shot sparingly.
  10. Yes, but a very important part of practice is experimenting with different quality sight pictures on various target presentations to understand what is enough sight picture. You do not need a traditional bullseye sight picture for most shots, but you need something.
  11. Are they still making the custom big butt grips?
  12. I don't shoot IDPA, and the cowboy-action-type power factors seem a bit silly to me. Major power factor loads feel stouter in my 5" 625 than they do in my government model. It doesn't affect my splits, but you do feel it a little at the end of the day. I've seen some pretty spicy speedloader reloads in ICORE. Are the spring loaded Comp III speedloaders IDPA legal? I think the disaster factor on the moonclip reload is smaller, and it probably takes less practice to get an ok reload.
  13. The 500 S&W is much quieter the the 460. The 500 operates at standard magnum revolver chamber pressures. The 460 operates at similar pressures to a 308.
  14. No, you do not want to take your time. You want to see only what is necessary and no more. Most misses are caused by trigger pulls not sight alignment. You need to learn to do all of this without taking your time or slowing down.
  15. Download the USPSA app. All changes will be listed there after the 2019 rules go into effect.
  16. Please define "full sight picture." Are you seeing enough to shoot 2 As? It is sometimes amazing how little you have to see to shoot an A.
  17. +1 on the Smith. I've not handled a Ruger with a competition-ready trigger job.
  18. Hmm. That's right before the Rocky Mountain regional. Maybe...
  19. I've always wanted a wind chime made from Garand en bloc clips.
  20. Not having a designated start area can add a few seconds to the cycle time of the stage. This only really matters at larger matches, but if you have 300 shooters, taking an additional 10 seconds to chase each shooter to their chosen start point will add 50 minutes to the total run time on that stage. That's potentally enough to back that stage up a whole squad. A designated start position avoids this.
  21. Go play with a chronogaph and adjust the tension on your strain screw. You can watch the power factor change as you add and remove tension on your mainspring. That said, I doubt that's the problem the OP is suffering from.
  22. I thought the same thing when I read the OP.
  23. There's always so much butt-hurt about this stuff. Write better stage briefings. If something happens on my stage that wasn't what I intended, I learn from it and do better next time.
  24. It can be a problem for some, especially if you have an extended mag release.
