  1. Yes, at times they can provide quite the entertainment value..... lol. BC
  2. All six of my 21 round magazines with the TTi basepads fit the gauge. No modifications were required so it looks like I got lucky.... BC
  3. Try tucking your chin down to your shoulder. This helps stabilize the muscle group used for strong / weak hand shooting. BC
  4. Magnets. TechWellUSA also sells one that will hold a long PCC magazine. Personally I feel they are faster as you don't have to pull the mag upward to clear the holder. Just hit it with your hand, grasp it on the way by and it pivots off the magnet. But it does take practice...... BC
  5. ^^^^ Same ^^^^ about 2 years ago after dry tumbling for 20+ years. The brass coming out of the PCC was coated in gunpowder "soot" from the blow-back operation. Dry tumbling was taking too long and left corncob media stuck in the primer pockets. A friend loaned me everything needed to wet tumble and I was sold. Went with the Franklin Arsenal tumbler kit with the stainless pins. This is why the change was made: 1. Takes a shorter amount of time (30 minutes tumble, 10 minutes drying versus 2 hours tumble, 5 minutes separating) 2. Primer pockets are cleaned (as mentioned, deprimed first) 3. Consistent volume inside the case as it's now very clean, so velocity stays consistent from round to round 4. Easier to resize when the brass is run through the CasePro, the sizing plates stay cleaner 5. Happen to have a source for water and a sink in the reloading room. BC
  6. Agree with @xpierrat on the tensioner markings. Under tightening or over tightening that assembly nut can cause problems. That is where the Tandemkross tool kit comes in handy. Video link to the takedown tool usage. In the picture, the black plastic pieces are a loader and unloader kit from Maglula. Another helpful tool when dealing with the small .22LR rounds. BC
  7. Thanks..... It seems like a LOT longer.... lol. BC
  8. Contact Matt Cheely. (link) I've broken one and he asked where it broke. After telling him, he replaced it. Matt stands behind his stuff. BC
  9. Bayou Bullets. Ordered November 9, 2020. Shipped March 15, 2021. 17 weeks. BC
  10. For the NRA Service Rifle national matches such as the ones held in the past at Camp Perry, you are responsible for putting time into the "butts". Hauling the target down, marking the new hit on the target, pasting the previous hit and then moving a scoring disk to show the point value after every shot. This can get a bit tiring in the summer sun, with no shade. Some ingenious people decided to hire themselves out to do the target work. They could clear $200 a day working in the place of 4 shooters. For some of our past Sectional matches, the Boy Scouts pasted and reset stages for the entire match. There was part of each competitor's match fee dedicated to their efforts so they made quite a bit of guaranteed money. There was also a donation jar available for them to make a few extra bucks. Don't know how that would fly with the parents in today's cancel culture but it's another solution. BC
  11. Josh, Congrats and welcome to RFRO division..... For mags, I'd recommend staying away from the Ruger 25 round BX-25 as it tends to jam and doesn't come apart to clean. Take a look at Tandemkross Double Cross magazine shells. You still need to buy the standard Ruger magazines (6 of 'em) as you need the "guts" from those to put together the three Double Crosses for SC. Or you can buy their upgraded ones (Double Shot) that already come with the internals. Their magazine assembly toolkit is well worth the money. Makes re-assembly simple and easy. And these magazines do require cleaning as the feed lips sit right under the front of the bolt. They catch quite a bit of burnt powder which can cause mis-feeds if not maintained. BC
  12. Every single primer (3 pages of 'em) all show "Out of Stock". BC
  13. A week after the order was placed, contacted Customer Service through their "Contact Us" link on their webpage. Asked when it would ship. The reply was "in 2-3 weeks". Well as of today, it's been over three weeks. Order is still in the same status... "Awaiting Fulfillment". It might be the best thing since sliced bread but if they cannot make them, what good are they? Funny that others are getting their Gen5 triggers and it appears Timney has decided to abandon the rest of us poor slobs with Gen3/4 guns. If this is the way they fill their order book, I might as well cancel the order and get my money back. BC
  14. Just shove a strip of pasters into their magazine well..... (really, don't do this if you are not good friends with the person AND they can take a joke...). Or you could just hand them a strip as long as they are not on deck or have just completed the stage. BC
  15. Running the GX holster for my P320 Legion in CO with the Nevermiss hanger. The pad mentioned distributes the weight of the loaded holster across a larger area of your thigh. It's a bit more comfortable, worth the money IMHO. First picture shows cant. Second picture shows pad. BC
  16. I just hand them a paint can as there are usually a limited number of those on each stage. If they don't head down range to paint, I just leave a 2-3 plates unpainted. They get the hint real quick. As far as rain goes, if the radar available on my phone indicates a short shower, I'll wait it out. If it's going to dump all day, I'm done. There are always other matches to enjoy versus a ride home soaked to the skin. BC
  17. Reply sent. Attending the Practical Shooting 101 class will give you the background (and some range time, weather permitting) that will give you a better understanding of what will be required. I certainly wish there was one available 20+ years ago as it could have saved me a lot of money, buying things that turned out not to be needed while missing essential stuff (like a magazine loader...lol). BC
  18. Rugged Gear Makes life on the range so much easier with the ability to roll everything around instead of carrying it, a cooler full of re-hydration and enough ammo to shoot the match twice. When not shooting Steel Challenge with 2 rifles, will put a folding stool in the 2nd gun holder. BC
  19. @broadside72 is from Commiefornia so he has to live under a different set of laws... some of us don't. Personally, the carbine (with a magwell the size of the Holland Tunnel) can be reloaded a bit quicker than my Sig P320 that can not have a magwell in Carry Optics. YMMV BC
  20. Availability of functioning Colt mags may be a problem. BC
  21. As mentioned, Cheely Custom Gunworks (link) makes some very nice metal grips. Find a gunsmith that is competent with a 1911 / 2011 trigger and have them tune the trigger until the pull weight is to your liking. After that my suggestion would be to concentrate on getting ammunition and trigger time. There is a saying: It's the indian not the arrow. Translation, it's the person's skill set that improves, not the gun. And that takes practice. It's true that if you "like" the gun with specific changes such as a 16 ounce trigger and a metal grip, then you will spend more time practicing with it. BC
  22. Barsto barrel has a tighter chamber. With the stock Sig barrel, used 3.1 grains. BC
