Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for all the responses. I have been doing it exactly like dannyd for years but had someone tell me that mixing walnut/corncob would give a better job. I have never bought walnut but brass I have seen that was cleaned with it was a powdery mess. That’s why I wanted to get opinions. As stated the steel pins and tumbler are tops, brass I’ve seen looks like new. My problem with that is I don’t have a water source in my shop, heat/ac, two loading stations, plenty of lighting and bench space but it would really be a pain to bring into my house and rinse. Only loading 5 pistol calibers so I think I will stick with the corncob and a dab of NU Finish as needed.
  2. Has anyone tried mixing corncob media and walnut for vibration brass tumbling. I now use the corncob and every 6/7 batches I add a cap of Nu Finish car polish. The reason I ask is I have heard you can get a lot cleaner brass with the walnut but by mixing about 50/50 you don’t get the film and dust like using just walnut plus you can add a strip of dryer fabric static guard to catch dust.
  3. I’ve been shooting Rimfire for several years at 3 different clubs. I have always used a Volquartsen 22/45 pistol and a SW 15/22 rifle with a JP Enterprise trigger and a Volquartsen extractor. The pistol is very pricey but I have never had a failure shooting 10000’s of thousand rounds. The 15/22 is just as reliable after installing the extractor and the trigger is smooth at 2 3/4 #. With Rimfire reliability counts for a lot, failures ruin your match and 22 ammo is so picky. My guns have never had anything but CCI Standard Velocity 1040 ft shot thru them.
  4. Regor Thanks for the response. Yes I’m sure it was the 40SW 170mm that I was asking about and got the response as quoted. I have several Springer Precision 140mm on TSO and get 23/9 mm (+3) , and 20/40SW ( +3) using all original CZ internals. I have fired thousands of rounds flawlessly. I did have to adjust my 9mm original springs when I started reloading Precision Delta 124g Hollow Point. Bent factory magazine spring second coil towards back to lift front of follower. Have not had any issues since. I don’t have a 170mm base and would really appreciate if you could try it with a flat nose 40. I shoot the 180g Precision Delta 40 with a flat nose. Thanks Regor Really appreciate you taking the time to check this out for me. Sounds like it will work for me worst cases is if I only get 24 40’s that’s still 4 more than I have now. Also the true test I have found is firing/cycling but you have had good results with the 170mm using 9mm. If I’m not comfortable with competition reliability of the 40’s I can always use it in my TSO/9mm. Again thanks a lot.

  6. I was interested in the Springer Precision 170mm base pad extension for 40SW Tactical Sport Orange. Website says it will increase a 40SW to 26 rounds. I talked to their customer service and was told they have had a lot of call backs from people having problems with feeding issues in the 40. They said they still sell them because some people insist on trying for themselves. Leaves me confused, has any one tried the 170mm in 40SW.
