  1. Glock feed ramps are the best $20 you will ever spend for reliability. Have made our 3 PCCs with many rounds 100% as long as my reloads work. Factory ammo is 100%. gerritm
  2. Do you have a thumb rest? This will help stabilize your grip and the dot. gerritm
  3. Anyone use one on 9mm? Kind of heavy. Got a used pinned & welded JP 9mm Super Match 14.5" 9mm barrel with a Rage Tactical adjustable comp attached. I have one on my PCC with the JP tactical comp. Knowing that most comps don't do much with fast powders and having shot open 9/38S and tuned several AR comps I am familiar with how they work. This was setup up with max downforce, only got to zero it this weekend due to weather, but it shot dead on at 15 yards, but couldn't really shoot enough to see how it works. Will shoot a match this weekend. Any advice? Is it just a muzzle weight? gerritm
  4. 337 starting in 2014. Doesn't count another 50 or so that don't show up there. Plus the ones when we used paper, before PS. Not just USPSA, includes 3-gun, 2-gun, shotgun, .22, & Steel Challenge. gerritm
  5. So if I'm reading this right, setting up the stage they don't nail down the fault line, create a tripping hazard, and then penalize the shooter when it happens. Something wrong here. I call BS. Slipping in an indoor range on the concrete happens quite often. Between brass and dust/powder/oil covered slick concrete I have seen this happen many times.. gerritm
  6. I have basically the same setup on 2 different CZ's and use RHT holsters. All I did was use a good hot hair dryer or heat gun and heat the area up where the thumb rest goes and shove it in and let cool. After doing it a couple of times it will mold a channel and draw & insert perfect with a little adjustment of the retaining screws. No grinding necessary. gerritm
  7. This. I don't know where you shoot, but here in the Houston area we never go off the way you either signed up, were squadded, or alphabetical. We always do a random mix and ask if newer shooters are comfortable going early or need to move down. If you do go first you will rotate on next stage to last. This is supposed to be fun and a game. Major matches you are kinda stuck. Between watching other experienced shooters run the stage & taping & resetting you will get a good plan figured out. Tough part is sticking to it when the "neuralizer" goes off. gerritm
  8. We usually put the newer shooters down the list and this doesn't help if you are first couple up, but I have learned that taping & resetting the stage as many times as possible gives me a heads up on my stage plan because you see all the hidden targets & positions. gerritm
  9. Everglades has some different 9MM & 40 in stock and shipping is free. gerritm
  10. My gun is very temperamental with slugs. It only likes certain ones including Wolf & Xtreme. They are slightly shorter and will feed & eject. Most others are just a hair longer and catch or are too hot and over run the bolt. Will not run Fiocchi slugs consistently. Same with longer & hotter birdshot. You have to find what the gun likes, goes with the territory. We shoot a VR80 also and it also likes certain ammo and slugs. I have mine set up to run light loads with a lighter recoil spring from Tooth & Nail. Once you figure this out it will run consistently. Cannot run cheap soft shell ammo like Win white box. Need a smooth hard shell. My MKA & her Vr80 run 99.9% with the same ammo & slugs in competition. Can run whatever in practice when it doesn't matter. gerritm
  11. I have shot an MKA 1919 for many years. Not knowing what parts are in that or how it is set up, hard to tell. Does it happen with all ammo? Depending on what recoil spring is in it it can be that with hotter/lighter FPS ammo the bolt is cycling too fast/slow and not having time to go far enough back to strip the next round off correctly. Mine will do this with hotter ammo 1300 FPS and up. Over runs the bolt. Or you are not running hot enough ammo and again it is not cycling completely. Try different FPS ammo to see what it likes. Key is it happens with all mags. I run Win AA 1145 fps to 1250 fps only in competition because the shell case is smooth, feeds well, and is hard and are way more reliable than other brands. Yours may need hotter FPS to cycle properly. Not sure where you live, but here in Texas on a hot summer day the cheap brands will actually deform from the heat. gerritm
  12. Original was a Turkish Akdal MKA 1919 with a polymer lower. I have not changed to the aluminum lower. Not sure of all they did, but new trigger, safety, mag release, handguard, stock, They put it all together with polishing and reliability package at the time. Tuned the 10 & 5 round magazines that came with it. I bought an extra tuned 24 rounder. All have run perfect. Changed the mag springs every couple of years. The new Rock Island 19 round mags run in it as well and both the old style mags and new ones run in my MKA and my granddaughters VR80 for 3-gun competition. I have over the years broken a couple of minor parts and replaced a couple due to wear. Many many rounds thru it over the years. It is set up with light recoil spring to run light loads, mainly I run Win AA 1145/1200 for reliability, Shoots slugs POA. If you were going to run hot bird/buckshot or slugs would go with the heavier recoil spring. Their CS has been excellent. gerritm
  13. If you like an AR type shotguns I shoot an MKA 1919 built by Tooth & Nail many years ago. Been totally reliable for many thousands of rounds. Looking at their website, not sure what they are building today, but worth contacting Josh or Matt. I know they have gotten into VR80's also. My MKA is shorter and more compact than our VR80, would probably be easier to use in a confined space. With right spring setup would shoot buckshot & slugs to POA. Can't go wrong with either company. gerritm
  14. Price range? Hard to beat one of Dissident Arms shorty Komp12 for what you want. I have a VR80 and although it is super reliable, would be kind of long and bulky for heli hunting. They run slugs to POA & buckshot with no problem. gerritm
  15. Welcome to the world of PCC. Started when PCC was just beginning in USPSA. Didn't have all the knowledge and options available today. Sounds like the first year of me shooting PCC until I figured out what works We shoot 3 PCC's now in USPSA & UML 3-gun and they all work 99.9% of the time. Never was lucky enough to get rained out, I just suffered. gerritm
  16. Thank you for the picture, this clearly shows what I need to know. Her setup should be okay. gerritm
  17. Setting up my granddaughter's CO rig. So I may be asking this and get flagged. I have looked at the diagram several times. Basically as long as any top part of the butt of the gun is just above the belt it is good. To go with the limited question. Is the magwell considered part of the "butt"? I know magwells are not allowed in CO. gerritm
  18. We contacted a 5.11 dealer and they said this is common for them to do a run on items and then if they are popular enough reorder from their supplier. I am thinking we will do the sewing. Going to be shorts weather here in Texas shortly for her. gerritm
  19. Academy's around here are all out of stock. The other one is way out of line on price, but thanks. gerritm
  20. She talked to them when we shot BWB in their squad and that is where she got the 5.11 originally. Might be worth a try again. Good idea with adding some belt loops, not me, but my wife is pretty handy with a sewing machine. We have a 5.11 store not too far and last few times we stopped by they were out. Thanks, Gerrit
  21. XS not going to work, that seems to be all that is left.
  22. So being a guy I haven't a clue. My granddaughter loves the 5.11 tactical Raven Capri pants for shooting because they have a belt loop for the inner velco belt. Apparently they aren't making them anymore or at least for now and we have looked all over the internet. The few that are available are too small. Color is black or dark green. Any ladies have a different brand they know of? Thanks, Gerrit & Juliann
  23. Just an add to this. Some ammo is temperature sensitive. Depending on where you live and what ammo you use, especially if you switch ammo to whatever is available make sure you have enough gas to run based on ammo & temp. When I set up ours it was a bright sunny 80 degree day using Federal XM193. Ran out of that, and shot a night match with temps in the high 30's-low 40's and the other brand ammo would not run consistently, fortunately it was in the old days and had another hotter brand with and it ran fine. Side note is this ammo was remanufactured and from a well known company. Or make sure you can get to the adjustment on the gas block and be able to open it up if this happens. gerritm
  24. This, including the elbow & arthritis. and by the way our 57 round Glock mags with MBX Extensions run. Actually all our mags run, why have them if they don't work. Part of the game is figuring out how to make all the equipment work as close to 100% as possible. gerritm
