  1. Put a Taccom feed ramp in the upper & it will cure your Glock feed/mag problems. Cheap easy fix. https://taccom3g.com/product/taccom-glock-lower-feedramp/ gerritm
  2. We shoot these matches and the other plus is they are very well run and get done generally before the main heat of the day in the afternoon..That includes set up before & tear down. gerritm
  3. Ben, I am also 66 and here in SE Texas we have the heat & humidity. I use shooting, both USPSA & 3-gun for my weekend exercise. I normally go to the furthest targets to reset & tape, but as I heat/sweat up I start going to the closer ones. We usually have pretty good tapers & resetters, but sometimes we have lazy social shooters. There is a group of us that try to shoot together so we all are really good about resetting along with my son & granddaughter. They are normally the hardest workers of the the squad. No shame in slowing down as the day goes on. The fan is a good idea, I just ordered one today. Several of the guys have them on their carts. Get in with a good group of non lazy shooters. As one of our top MD"S preach at every match "Shooting is optional, resetting is mandatory." gerritm
  4. Here in the Houston metro area I have noticed that 3-gun matches have slowed some in participation, but MD's have lowered round counts especially rifle and have bumped up the shotgun & pistol/pcc. Rifle rounds seem to be the hardest to find. USPSA/SC is still very busy and filling up. Some MD's have limited the number of shooters per match & squads and sign up on PS or their club website is mandatory with no walk ups. Several have gone to payment on PS so no one having to take money and eliminated the shooter's meetings. gerritm
  5. We have been shooting PCC's since day one in USPSA & UML 3-gun. I have had several barrels with mixed feeding reliability until I installed the Taccon feed ramps in the uppers. Now I am running a JP barrel and have had a few feeding issues before. I think this is due not to the barrel but the Glock mags, bullet types, and ammo. I load my own but the there is always variations in the way the mags seat and slight movement/angle of the mags depending on your lower & ejector. I have installed a Taccom feed ramp in my upper and have eliminated feeding issues. With my GD's Taccom super feed ramp in her barrel I believe it is just one more factor to insure perfect feed angle taking out the mag bcg, or ammo issues. Reliability is the key to success with PCC's. Murphy's law strikes at the worst moments. Are they absolutely necessary, maybe, but to insure reliability they work. gerritm
  6. I built a lightweight 5# PCC for my grandaughter using a Taccom ULW 5" barrel complete upper with the shroud. It was before the super feed and so I used a Taccom feed ramp. Gun ran anything and was 99.9% reliable. She ran about 20K rounds thru it over 2 years and I sold it to a buddy who has run another 10K at least. Still super accurate. She wanted a little heavier barrel so now has the super feed 10/16 barrel and it is also super accurate & reliable. Probably 10K on it so far. gerritm
  7. Just went with the same idea with the shortage. Have been using SNS & Egglestone 124gr .356 RN bullets. In our STI DVC 3gun & my JP barrel PCC they run at my normal length of 1.11-1.12. In my CZ75 SP01 & Taccom PCC they have to be short around 1.09. Did plunk tests in all to see what would work. geritm
  8. Looks just like mine, but it was not stepped brass. It was xtreme brass, but not stepped. I tried all of these suggestions, none worked including Kroil, heat & freezing brushes, wood dowel, etc. Finally went to the hardware store and got a fluted 4 sided easy out screw extractor set. Gently tapped the closest one in size into the brass case. Didn't remove the case, but did put a couple of slight cuts in the brass. I took & sharpened an ice pick type tool to a really fine point and used that to split the case at the cut in 2 places and folded the brass case in until I could grab it with a forcep. Checked the chamber for any scratches & was good to go. Shot a match the next day and all good. I have a hooked dental pick that I have in my range bag that has worked before, but this case was so thin and due to dirt/heat was almost welded to the sides of the chamber. gerritm
  9. Who had Bubonic Plague Squirrels for July? gerritm
  10. Great range, but normally always has a waiting list to join. Not sure about this year. gerritm
  11. Good to know, thanks all for the info. I get a lot of once fired brass from a friend at a range. Will keep them in the mix. gerritm
  12. I know I have seen this somewhere here, but how do you search for a symbol? Culling some brass and found a bunch of these. Any good? gerritm
  13. I am going to throw some anecdotal personal experience in the mix. I am guessing you all are talking about .355 diameter? Due to the shortage I have been shooting a couple of different coated 9mm .356 124gr RN bullets in my son's STI DVC 3-gun. During testing and zeroing at 25 yards these have been about a quarter sized group off a bag rest. We were really surprised at how accurate they performed. Same results with our PCC's. Every bit as accurate as the normal .355 124/115gr RN FMJ & plated we shoot in our minor PF guns. gerritm
  14. I have shot both coated & JHP's in open & PCC's with comps. The JHP will clean the barrel portion of the comp not the baffles of lead. Had to use a Dremel with a flattened nail to get the lead out of the baffles. gerritm
  15. Have these in my range bag and have used them before. Something about the thinness of this case just could not get a grip on it. Gun was clean with maybe less than 50 rounds. Wished I knew exactly what headstamp it was for sure. gerritm
  16. Got it. Took a fluted easy out and started a slight cut at top then took a sharp pick and split it out. Pretty sure it was an extreme brass head stamp. Really thin. Not a stepped one or steel. Had a stuck extreme brass earlier. Culled all the weird head stamps out of my loaded rounds. These were commercial processes brass not my normal range brass.
  17. Already tried this. Case is stuck as tight as I have seen. Normally just use little hook tool I made and drags it out.
  18. Tried the. 223 case seemed good and tight but didn't get it. Guess a trip to find a dowel. Any type of easy out?
  19. Had a case separate in my open gun today. I made a hook to grab the case but not working. Really stuck. Any ideas to get it out? gerritm
  20. I am 66 and that stage looks like fun. Running is never a problem, you can move at your own pace. gerritm
  21. I certainly don't mind a tough match, but keep in mind your audience when you start adding ladders, platforms, tunnels, & towers. Probably 50% of the shooters at the 6 or so matches in our area are plus 50 & many over 60 years old. They are the week to week & month to month guys who support these matches. Movers, & all are great, but seem to always malfunction at one point and can clog up the squads. Not against, just notice this. Distance is good to a point. Running & moving in general is good cause based on age & ability you can do it at your own pace. A healthy mix of all makes a great match and being lucky here we have several MD's that accomplish this. gerritm
  22. Checked everything over. Feed lips are good. No problems that I can see internally. I have a new gen 140mm and the Lula is tight loading that also. Made sure the follower is smooth. Ran all my dummy rounds thru it and they ejected smoothly. I am shooting a match this weekend, if the rain holds off. Will test at the range again before and if it runs then try it in the match. gerritm
  23. This, most stages are set up by righties. Make the COF hard leans fair to all including PCC shooters. I shoot PCC left handed & open right handed due to an eye injury so I see it from all angles. Keep in mind all levels of shooters when designing the stage. Had a stage a couple of weeks ago with a target @ 180 degrees to the left with a wall outside the shooting area blocking it so couldn't use it, that was physically impossible for a left handed pcc or pistol shooter to shoot it without touching or hanging on the wall or breaking the 180. gerritm
  24. I have the Dawson tuning kit and set them per the Atlas video, but will have to check for sure. They were off from the factory. Tried 3 different followers/spring combos including the original never worked right. As a side note I have used many STI mags including older 170's with the shim and so has my son with great success. This is my first 170 new gen. gerritm
