  1. We shoot a 115gr Everglade plated bullets with 3.8grs of Titegroup. Roughly between the 3 of us about 20-25K a year in our PCC's & minor pistols. The PCC's are zeroed at 25 yards and shoot a quarter sized 5-shot hole. Hit a 200 yard 12x12 steel target yesterday after about 5 shots and we all hit a 3" hanging steel at 50 yards offhand with the first shot with red dots on PCC & iron sight pistol. More than acceptable accuracy with a plated inexpensive bullet. gerritm
  2. Used them a few years ago and were very accurate out of my rifle. Very similar in specs to yours. gerritm
  3. In my new to me used CK Hardcore open gun I tried S&B SRP and it would not fire them reliably. I know they were not set high. Double checked. Fired about 75-80% of them. Went back to CCI with no problems. The S&B SRP worked in my STI DVC. gerritm
  4. My granddaughter's M2 with no clamp was about 10"-12" high at 50 yards. She has a Ruger 10/22 flip rear sight and low profile front FO. Swapped out the low front FO for a much taller one and re-zeroed at 50. Hits POA now. gerritm
  5. Never thought about it that way, she is cheating on me with another shooter. 43 years down the tube, at least I might get some ammo out of it. Hope at least he is a GM.
  6. When you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and you hear something fall off the bed. You scrounge around on the floor in the dark to find it, and realize it is a loaded 9mm round. Take it to the bathroom, turn the light on to see, & realize it is not one of your reloads or anything you normally shoot, cause it has the wrong type primer/bullet & a dimple from a firing pin. Where in the hell did that come from? Is my wife trying to tell me something?? gerritm
  7. We have shot 3- SC matches with this set up so far. About 500 rounds without a single malfunction using CCI mini mags. Haven't even cleaned it, but will do before next match. Kind of wanted to see what it took to get a malfunction. gerritm
  8. Not to totally confuse you. It is a combination of dot size & quality of the optic. I have a DPP 2.5 on my open gun now & absolutely love it. Crisp clear easy to operate dot for 90% of the time. But it does get tougher to find in super bright Texas sun. Does not lose its brightness just harder to acquire because of the size. I have a C-more rail 8moa & a C-more RTS2 6moa on my PCC & SC rifle and have never had a problem in the sun. We also have a Bushnell 6moa on 1 SC rifle & I have had several of the Vortex Viper/Venoms. None of the ones with the larger dots tend to fade. All are good quality. But the red dot bloom is more pronounced in the less expensive dots.Which can also be caused by astigmatism. There are 3 of us that shoot USPSA,3-gun, & SC, so quite a variety of guns & dots. And definitely if you have a FO front sight put a piece of black tape or cover it, especially if it is red. Will show up on really bright days & can be a little confusing. gerritm
  9. I shoot left handed and use a Gibbz lower. Very high quality. Uses Glock mags. gerritm
  10. On my 3gun shotgun for slugs and when i shot limited in 3-gun I had a smaller MOA red dot due to shooting at distance, anything bigger than a 2.5 or 4MOA @ 100 yards and out would cover the whole target so not good, but for USPSA where 90% of your shots are within 10-15 yards the larger dot is great. You will also find that you will acquire the bigger MOA dot much faster especially on the 2nd shot in CO when you are dealing with slide movement & recoil. gerritm
  11. We have had Vortex Viper & Venom red dots. Great warranty. They are not bad, but one issue is window size. They have very small windows & especially on carry optics with a moving slide & recoil are tougher to acquire. So bigger window & brighter dots are easier to acquire. So good idea to check what others are using, buy once cry once. gerritm
  12. We have several USPSA ranges that some of the bays face the morning sun. Size matters. More important to see the dot in all conditions than it is to have a precise aim point especially in USPSA. You can always turn it down, can't turn it up if you don't have it. And yes all red dots are not created equal. My 6moa Burris is not near as bright as my DPP 2.5. I have a C-more RTS & a regular C-more with both have 6moa and the RTS is a more precise dot than the regular C-more. The Bushnell 4moa is also not near as bright, but we use it for a SC open RFP so not as important. Several of my shooting buddies have 8moa C-mores just for that reason. Turn them down in darker/overcast days or indoors. The regular C-more on my PCC has a hood that snaps on to help with the sun. gerritm
  13. Great scope, we have been shooting one for a couple of years. Not quite as good of glass as my son's Razor, but reticle and dot brightness are the same. recommend it highly. Glass is every bit as good as my Burris XTR 1x8. gerritm
  14. What size MOA was the dot? Here in Texas we shoot into the very bright summer sun all the time. Found that 6moa is minimum & 8moa or bigger is better. Some go with 10moa. I have a DP 2.5 and fades fast with the sun. I have had 4moa dots and same problem. gerritm
  15. I also have the Limcat brass heavy magwell on a plastic grip CK open gun. Really like the weight & how the gun balances and the way reloads go in. Also have a Dawson Ice that I tried but went back to the Limcat. Now the downside is Dawson type tool less large mag extensions will not go in to the Limcat. Has to be the low profile MBX or TTS type on the 140mm mags. Even the stock STI bases will work. gerritm
  16. After loading them up a couple of times for the indoor match, the springs do feel softer than my mags with Grams or MBX, but they functioned perfect. No failures. gerritm
  17. Both my buddy & I have 9mm CK open guns. Run great. I have DeltaPoint and he is running a Holosun. Nothing wrong with a standard mount C-More. I don't care for the 2.5 MOA dot in the bright Texas sun and he has the circle dot & really doesn't care for it. He is going back to a standard side mount 8MOA C-more, that he is used to, & I will eventually change to an C-More RTS 2. gerritm
  18. Just got a 140 & a 170 gen II and loaded them both up with dummy rounds to make sure they feed in my CK open gun. Fed fine, hand ejected great, springs felt good. I will shoot them this Thursday and check out. Measured the feed lips and they were within specs. gerritm
  19. You know sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. We focused on the rear sight. Good idea. Did some measuring and found a Truglo turkey front sight FO that sits higher with a bigger FO. Should work or at least get the slugs closer and maybe help acquire hoser targets a little faster. Thanks for the help, gerritm
  20. We have a Ruger flip up dove tail sight installed in the rail on my granddaughters Benelli. The gun still shoots Fiocchi low recoil slugs 8-10" high at 50 yards. Windage is perfect. We have filed the sight as low as we can go without it breaking. Have a small FO front sight. Any other rear dove tail sights to suggest to get point of aim higher to match POI? gerritm
  21. One of my shooting buddies just got one from LS for a DVC 3-gun and it fit and functioned perfect. Really nice feel to it. gerritm
  22. Trigger right now is really decent. Every bit as good or better than the BX I have in my Ruger. Will wait for them to develop the after market mag release. Not a critical flaw in SC for mag changes, just a pain. gerritm
  23. To follow up. She shot her first SC match with the new rifle and won the match. Knocked her time down for 5 stages by about 2 seconds. Rifle performed perfect not a single failure of any kind going on well over 500 rounds with me shooting it and testing, running CCI mini mags with stock Ruger 20 rounds mags. Tested the 15 rounders and worked good, also. Interesting observation that the only .22's being run, at least in our squad either pistols or rifles that didn't malfunction at one time or another were 2 Magnum Research Switchbolts and my tuned Ruger Target Lite. 1 complaint about the rifle. It has a push button mag release that is very awkward. MR says they are working on a replacement extended type, but not available, yet. Anyone try an aftermarket one to see if it will work. Even with some mods due to the shape of the trigger guard? gerrim
  24. Just got a set of 5 changed out and they all hold 10 and work great. gerritm
  25. Ran a bunch of Everglades 124gr Major last night in a small indoor match after my own loads were not hot enough and had a few FTE on a new to me used CK Hardcore. The Everglades ran perfect and felt great. My buddy had it left over cause he likes their 147gr major a little better in his open Glock 34. So I bought the balance of what he had. By the way I have used their 115gr, 124gr, & 230gr plated & JHP bullets for my reloading for several years. In excess of 40K. Great stuff, fast free shipping on the bullets. gerritm
