  1. If you were presently reloading or planned to be sometime soon it'd be more of a toss-up between the two, but since you don't and have a source for friendly pricing on 9mm ammo I'd say your decision has been made. If you plan to purchase locally see if your local 'smith could check out the gun(s) you're considering beforehand to limit the possible gremlins in waiting. Trust me, waiting for S&W to fix something under warranty that should never have left the factory in the first place is no fun.
  2. Kinda like how so many cars in the 70's were badged as 'SS' or 'GT' with little to no difference.
  3. I'm guessing 'Ouch!' is the word we're looking for?
  4. Are you sure you really hate that? Sorry. Couldn't resist.
  5. The ablations and the last medication tried were at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center. The present plan is for the third ablation attempt to be done mid-October and then about a month after that I'll have to go back for 2-3 days to be taken off my present medication.
  6. The warm wishes and kind thoughts are much appreciated. I just get so frustrated with this because we'll try something and it either fails immediately or works for only 2-3 months and then we're back to square one. It's like playing whack-a-mole with the electrical impulses of my heart. We find a way to block the deviant signals only for them to establish a new pathway. It's kept me from entering any matches since late 2013 simply because I don't feel safe due to the symptoms of fatigue and dizziness when one of these episodes begin.
  7. Four years, ten different medications (including two which I had to be monitored in a hospital when starting), two ablations and the medical community still can't find a way to control my bouts of A-fib. My only real hope at this point is a third ablation, but the soonest that can be scheduled is still more than a month and a half away.
  8. Yeah. Brodi's paw on top would be the icing on the cake.
  9. Alec, what's your recipe for long colts (if it isn't classified ... or even if it is)?
  10. Has anybody tried the Tripp 9mm flex followers in Dawson 10 round magazines? If so, did it change performance and/or decrease capacity?
  11. Go to the Wilson Combat website and order either the G.I. or full-length guide rod for the flat wire springs (wilsoncombat.com). They have a smaller diameter to fit these type springs.
  12. I've been using a lightly modified Range Officer in .45 for my Single Stack gun and have been pretty happy with it. You may also want to consider the Competition Ready offerings from Dawson Precision. They have both the Range Officer (around $1,000) and Trojan ($1,500) that look to be within your budget.
  13. Congratulations to Rick Steele on being reelected as Area 5 Director.

If you have a chance to try some friend's/competitor's 8-shot models see which platform you prefer (9mm or .38). Add up the cost of the mods you'd want to make, including reloading gear if applicable, and see if it'd be worth it to you to make the switch. If you decide it's for you then shoot what you've got until you can save up the cost of making the jump. Be honest in evaluating your skill level as to what difference you'd see in the results as well. Either way, by all means, have fun!
  15. Maybe you just have REALLY caustic hand sweat!
  16. You may also want to contact your CC company and fill them in with what's been going on and request a credit to your account. I realize you'd rather have the parts you ordered, but nothing gets someone's attention (especially a business) like having money taken away from them. Maybe then you'll ACTUALLY get some action instead of hollow promises.
  17. I think Dawson also offers the Springfield Range Officer in the Competition Ready version for right around your budget of 1K.
  18. You'll also want to plan on range sessions to evaluate different recoil springs with your choice of ammo as well.
  19. But, but hating Honda Civics would be like hating puppies. How cruel!
