  1. Just ordered some to try in my Single Stack Trojan and Production Glock 17. Their current favorite is the Atlanta Arms 147 gr. so we'll see how the two compare.
  2. So, if you reload it, does that make it Ex-Lax ammo?
  3. A number of the guys shooting GSSF are running 147s over TG at around 900 fps.
  4. A little competition certainly couldn't hurt. At the very least maybe it'll make S&W increase the quality of their products. It otta be fun to watch the outcome.
  5. Both are amazingly accurate little powerhouses. If you don't reload, the 45 ACP Glock 30 would probably be easier to find ammo at your local store(s) of choice. If you do reload a quick check of Starline's website shows the cost of brass being a wash between the two. If you're planning on using your selection as a carry piece for backpacking, the Glock 29 might be a more suitable choice. Both can be used for multiple classes in GSSF competitions (should you be so inclined) and the 30 would be a capable contender in IDPA as well in the CDP division (as Mas Ayoob has proven). So, what is/are the intended purpose(s) of this gun?
  6. Oh, go blow it out your ... compensator!
  7. I was kinda hoping this would have something to do with one that featured Miss January.
  8. Kinda makes you long for the good old days of global warming, doesn't it?
  9. I don't know how alec feels about it, but for me the feeling of finger groove grips in rubber and wood is completely different. Where the rubber grips tend to grab and hold your fingers in place wherever you first grip the gun (sometimes uncomfortably so), the wood grips allow my fingers to find their own center in each groove and still provide a good sound grip (particularly important in a carry gun). The Round Butt Tactical grip that Kim offers in Bubinga wood is my personal favorite. I also choose the Tung oil finish. This wood/oil finish was also Judy's choice, Kim's late wife who died of cancer earlier this year.
  10. Be sure to check out ahrendsgripsusa.com. Kim offers different styles in different choices of wood. I use his grips for my CC revolvers.
  11. Best wishes to you and yours Warren
  12. Actually the 625 would let you compete in USPSA, IDPA and ICORE with just the one gun. Granted, you might be more competitive in USPSA with an eight shot minor gun, but that's still an awful lot of shooting you'd get with the 625.
  13. This can be a tough one to call. If you are putting a lot of rounds downrange in practice and going to quite a few major matches a back up makes sense. On the other hand, if you maintain your gun well and have fitted spare parts in your inventory maybe a gun for another division starts looking more attractive. Barring an unforeseen catastrophe (aren't they all?) I think I'd go with the chance to shoot more divisions.
  14. Got an e-mail confirmation of my entry today. I'm in for Saturday May 12. Hoping my health holds up. Looking forward to shooting this one again.
  15. I'm closing in on Super Senior next year, so a little reminder now and then doesn't hurt.
  16. Just make sure you're not wearing the glove at the time!
  17. Keep in mind these are the same people who told us that the 929 and 986 were ideal for accuracy intensive competition like Bianchi Cup.
  18. True enough I suppose, but the Single Stack Classic was around a number of years before it became the Nationals. It was a great match put on by great people and enjoyed by quite a few folks each year. As Signcutter has noted, it's had its ups and downs, but it's one I'll look forward to shooting again (fingers crossed) regardless of the holster rules.
  19. Just a quick update. I've been home from the last procedure for a week now and am feeling much better than I did after either of the first two attempts. As I have told friends and family, I am cautiously optimistic at this point. I still have to take it easy for about a week before doing too much more than casual walks around the neighborhood (no trips to the range for ballistic therapy sessions yet). Hoping for the best. Thanks to all who expressed their concern and/or best wishes.
