  1. To me, a POV camera is useful if you use it in conjunction with another camera. That way with the POV you can see what you were shooting at, the setups, etc, but the other camera catches what you really want to see, which is you. Reloads, transitions, movement, you will learn a lot more with a third person camera than you ever will with a POV camera.
  2. http://www.ipsc.org/store/store.htm A little more expensive that SC, but they have it in stock.
  3. [Thread drift mode on] Can't this still be taken through correspondence courses? And this thread made me check my USPSA profile, and see my CRO expired at the end of them month.. It's nice having that on-line, 5 minutes, passed 100% They have not offered the CRO correspondence course for a while now. I gave up looking at the website for more info. I guess they don't want more people being CRO's. The one in person class we tried to get in this area back in May couldn't draw enough people, so looks like I won't become an CRO any time soon either.
  4. I think part of the issue is Certified RO's not even knowing the rules that are black and white and need no interpretation. How about everyone, certified RO's or not, read the rule book. I mean read it and understand it, not just breeze through it. Just saw another example of a rule in another thread that is black and white, needs no interpretation, and a Certified RO that did not know it existed. And no, it is not an obscure rule.
  5. +1 Or how about when you attend a level 2 match and the person that announces himself as the CRO for the stage is the one running you on the timer, and at the "Are you ready?" command leaves you standing there waiting because he's looking for a head nod acknowlegment, and then finally gives you the Standby command after 5 seconds, and your brain goes into overdrive saying don't react, have him start over, you don't have to react, you don't have to react...and then he hits the buzzer and you react out of sheer habit???????? (don't worry Mark, not a match you were involved with)
  6. True...but come on, let's use some common sense folks. There are obvious differences between a competitor that hangs their arms naturally at the sides and they tend to stick out because of the magazines, and a competitor that has their arms hanging further away and wrists turned, and cocked, etc. Common sense: It's not in the rulebook, but we are allowed to use it. ( and no...because there is no rule specifically allowing it, doesn't mean that we can't use it!! )
  7. If you and I are standing ANY place other than a gun range without competition gear on us, and I asked you to stand with your arms hanging naturally at your sides, this picture is EXACTLY how you would stand. If it isn’t, well then HEY…look at that, there is a picture in the rule book that shows you what you are supposed to look like. FWIW, 8.2.2 points to this picture to describe "arms hanging naturally at sides" So why are these RO’s letting people stand with their hands any which way they want? And at Nationals no less????
  8. The Military Channel the other night had a show "CIA Secrets" and the episode was "Escape from Terror". It was the actual story that the movie Argo is based on. It was very cool. I can't wait to see the movie. I'm sure they added a lot of drams, but it still looks like a good movie. FWIW...i know the Military Channel is re-running that episode if anyone is curious.
  9. App sent yesterday. i will be there. VERY glad we're back to USPSA rules!! This is always a very good match. If you've never shot this one, you should. Good stages and all for a GREAT cause.
  10. +1 ( except I thought Florida Open was a Level 3 ). Either way, FO is a tough but fun match. Lots of long shots, this year's added fun were the half multi-swingers. ( Top half of a Classic target with another one below it...one stage had a swinger with three on it.... ) Lots of international competitors, and all of the targets are Classics, no Metrics.
  11. 4.4 of N320?? I'm using 4.3 right now and getting 132PF. It sounds like Doug is right on the money....I'll definitely start with 4.0 Thanks guys.
  12. I'm looking to load up some soft shooting bullets for Steel Challenge this weekend. I did a search, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm looking for: CZ SP01 N320 MG 124FMJ Probably looking for about 950-1000 fps. I don't want to have to respring, nor am I looking for any other powder/bullet combination. I want to use what I have. Anyone have any recommendations?
  13. My old boss used to fly all the time for work so he was always getting upgraded to first class. If there was a service man/woman on the flight, he would give up his first class seat to them and take their seat. I always thought that was a really classy (no pun intended) move.

    Grips

I have big hands. I started with the thin grips, but then moved to the thick. The thick are definitely noticeably thicker, however, they just weren't thick enough for me. I switched to the plastic grips ( which have the same profile as the stock rubber grips). I then took JB Weld, spread a thin layer on them, and coated the grips with silicon carbide. By far the best solution for my big sweaty hands. This works much better than the grip tape, IMO. I have two sets now ( bought another set of plastic grips off a guy on CZ Forum for $14 ), so I just do both, and swap them when the grit starts getting smoothed over. About 2-3 months. Swap them for the fresh set, and then just redo the worn ones before 2-3 months goes by, swap again. FYI, this is also legal per USPSA Production rules if you are curious about that.
  15. It was definitely predictable. Lol You mean Benos, the place where there is an entire sub-forum committed to the lively discussion of gun springs? Where there is a new thread every month on the topic of oil versus grease? Mobil 1 Froglube
  16. I load 4.3gns of N320 on MG 124FMJ. I found the OAL with the best accuracy was around 1.145-1.150. Shooting out of a CZ SP01.
  17. "should of" vs "should have" Please don't type "should of" when you really mean "should've" Should've is the contraction of Should and have. typing should of when you mean should've makes you sound as ignorant as those that misuse the words their, there, they're, it's, its, hear, here.
  18. If you clean the the primer slide, make sure you stick with the green scotchbrite like DoubleTap recommends. Don't, under any circumstance, use sand paper, no matter how fine the grit is. Don't ask me how I know.....
  19. I'm in the say "Stop" instruct shooter to put their hands on their head and have someone go downrange to fix the popper. I will add though, that as the RO, as soon as I say/yell "Stop" I will immediately explain to the shooter why and to have them relax, they did nothing wrong. There is nothing more nerve rattling as a shooter than hearing STOP yelled after or during handling your gun. The first thing through your mind is "WTF did I just do wrong?" Ease the shooters concerns right away and tell them about the popper. I know Grumpy was probably posting a bunch of different scenarios to get a well rounded answer, but as a shooter, if I found out after running an entire COF that the RO knew a popper had fallen prior to the start signal, I would be PISSED. Not much recourse, but we would definitely be having some words after the fact.
  20. sounds like the primer bar is not traveling far enough to allow the primers to drop consistently. You need to make adjustments to parts 13898 & 14037 on Page 5 of the Dillon 550 manual. you need to loosen part 13898 the nut, then adjust 14037, I believe counterclockwise ( don't quote me ). But make SMALL turns. Its only going to take like an 1/8th of a turn, not much. Then make sure you tighten part 13898 again.
  21. If I don't do anything, mine will rust the day after being used in a match. All I do is wipe them down with a silicon cloth and put them in the safe with the gun. They don't rust if I do that. Sorry Grumpy, I know you said you tried that, but I don't have any issues as long as I do that.
  22. I don't know what I did or said to have you say that but THANK YOU! I don't remember the exact wording but you said something along the lines of all the internet talk and zen stuff, you said line up the sights and pull the trigger, do the fundamentals, something like that. That is exactly what I thought too! I even told my buddy about it...told him to make sure he watches the interview with Patrick near the beginning of the show. Good stuff Patrick!
  23. Why is this in the What I like section? Because WM raising their rates got me off my lazy ass to call Waste Industries that also picks up in my neighborhood and check their rates. Not only will I get the same home and yard waste service, I will also get recycle pickups every other week ( wasn't currently getting that ), and my quarterly bill will be $19 less!! Thanks for raising my rates Waste Management...you're the best!
  24. that's just sandbaggin' right there....
