  1. Can't wait for this match, looks good so far. And Kudos to whoever is naming the stages. I didn't make the connection after the first two, but when I read the name of today's stage, I had the "A-ha!" moment. ( forgive me, I can be slow at times ) Anyway, very cool. ( and no, not saying what it is in case others want to try and figure it out )

Sorry Steve, I'm shooting Sat PM/Sun AM
  3. Chris, looking at Aug for a classifier match at CAPS. I am shooting the Rockcastle/AR15 ProAm that weekend so I am going to try to get someone to take over as MD and have it be a special classifier match. Will let you know. Tim Tim, is CAPS a club? If so, where is it?
  4. Welcome, from a former Rockland County guy. I moved down to SC 5 years ago for work, ironically enough they are laying me off ( June 29th is my last day ), but I have no intentions of moving back to NY.
  5. +100. that is exactly what I use. Works better and is WAY easier to use, plus it always stays on your belt. Almost impossible to lose.
  6. too soon? LOL, no, not at all. I just didn't get back in here until now to see the last couple of responses. That was funny! I'm just damn glad the gun went kaboom in my hands, and not hers. I don't sleep well on couches!

Thread drift/ At 1:00 you shoot through the mesh fencing. (Did I see that correctly?) That's a big no go where I shoot. We did have an out-of-towner who asked if he could shoot through the road fencing which is used on walls to make them lighter and more portable, and everyone looked at him like he was crazy. He said they did that were he comes from. Maybe he's normal and we are the strange ones. I shoot at the same club with Heckler, so I'll answer. Yes, you saw correctly. Normally our walls are solid hard cover, even the snow fences like that one. The stage designer on that given saturday decided to make that wall soft cover, so you could shoot through it.
  8. If you are going to go through the effort, why not plant a good sweet corn? If you want color in the kernels, there are options there too. Burpee carries a lot of varities. The "Peaches and Cream" is a white/yellow kernel mix. A day before harvest, a shot of red food coloring in the base of the cob will get some good color. The Ruby Queen Hybrid sweet corn is a deep red and tastes great. We don't want to eat it. It's too easy to just buy sweet corn. We have planted sweet corn the last two years but we want bigger stalks for Harvest decorations. We always go out and buy field corn stalks because they are bigger. I found some Canadian field corn on line that grows to 16 feet. Why not just buy the decorations and call it done? You gonna raise reindeer for christmas? Raising the reindeer is the easy part. The hard part is finding the elves to make the toys.
  9. The least Dan could have done was got someone from Kentucky to translate. Yeah, I don't know...I looked over a few times on Saturday and Bob had that deer in headlights look after I yelled out some scores. Although we did manage to avoid the whole Pop vs Soda and Tennis Shoes vs Sneakers debate. Maybe we can get June Cleaver to translate for us next year. Here is an exmaple of her fine work. http://www.viddler.com/v/e773f8b8
  10. A little bit off topic, but in regards to green gas. Green gas is propane with silicon oil in it, they even sell an adaptor so you can buy in bulk for a fraction of the cost. http://www.airsoft-innovations.com/store/ai-gungas-propane-adaptor-kit I've never used to kit since all my airsoft is long gone, so take it for what it's worth. Nope, not off topic at all. I'm glad you brought that up. Yep, i bought the propane adaptor and tried it once.....just once. Dry firing in the garage with propane is nasty stuff. If you were outside, it probably wouldn't be too bad, but in an enclosed area, it is awful smell. Green gas is propane with the silicon oil mixed in, AND, the ethyl mercaptan removed. Green gas doesn't stink at all, and even has a pleasant order. Propane...well, I'm sure you know how bad that smells.
  11. I have found a CZ 75D airsoft and the KWA CZ75B before, not sure how close they would be for you though. Watching this for replies as well. I had seen the 75D. It doesn't appear to be a 'high end' airsoft gun, plus it's compact, so I dismissed it. I somehow missed the KZ75. Just watched a few positive reviews of it. Pros: It might fit my holster It's a closer match to a SP-01 Shadow than the Tanfo Cons: More expensive than the Tanfo ($165 vs $130) Sights aren't very good. Not adjustable, and can't tell if they can be drifted. It's SAO, as well I have the KWA KZ75. It is a very good stand in for the SP01 as far as weight and ergonomics go. That's where my postive review ends. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy something different, even if it didn't resemble the SP01. My friend bought one of the Tanfo airsofts, loves it. The problems I've had with the KZ75: Jams a lot, I've oiled, cleaned, still happens, way too much Magazines broke - both of them - same exact issue. After you shoot a mag or two worth of BB's, quickly, like we all do in dry fire practice, the mags get VERY cold from the gas. If you happen to BUMP (not drop, not slam, not anything harder than a slight bump) the mag base pad, the ears that hold on the base pad will shear right off. Happened to both mags I have. KWA replaced the first time, I haven't done anything about the second one yet because I've been really busy. Plus, the first one took about 4 weeks turn around time to get the replacement. I assure you, I have never dropped the magazine on the ground. The mag slid out of the gun from about 3" high off the work bench and broke. ( that's 3" not 3') Green Gas blows! Very hard to get, no one sells it in stores around me, have to get online. Don't think there is an advantage over the guns with CO2 like the Tanfo. They both have very similar recoil, but the CO2 is easier, and cheaper. Not really a problem just an issue. The sights are not removable. You are stuck with the stock sights. The Tanfo allows you to replace with the same Dawson or whatever sights you have on your competition gun. The KWA has crappy not adjustable, not changeable sights. Unless you like pain, you will have to dremel the hammer on the KWA. The hammer spur is so long, it will hit the webbbing of your hand under the beavertail everytime you fire the gun. Once you do it, there are no problems, but out of the box, you have to void your warranty and grind the crap out of the hammer....unless like I said....You like pain! YMMV, these are just my own experiences.
  12. For the ring around the front, yes, that is what it looks like, the back side of the case looks normal though ( you can't see that on the picture). If it was out of battery, would the ring go all the way around the case?
  13. No, no movement pushing against a solid surface Doesn't look like there is a crimp ring. I think it's the clump of media. I did have a few that had media in them when I was loading them. I distinctly remember stopping and pulling one out because I noticed the powder level looked higher than the others. Sure enough there was a clump at the bottom. I'm thinking this is the culprit. I was very vigilant after that one, but up until then, this round that blew up today might have slipped through. Thanks for the feedback Sarge.
  14. Not exactly sure, but if I had to guess I would say it's been loaded 4 or 5 times.
  15. So I had my first, and hopefully last, kaboom at the range today. Shooting a CZ P07, my reloads, MG124 FMJ, WSP, Win Case, 4.3gns N320. When I pulled the shot, from what I remember there was a blue/smokey flash and the shock caused me to drop the gun. Thankfully, no damage to me or the gun. When I finally picked up the gun, the magazine was still seated, the slide was slightly open with the case still inside, and the only obvious indication that something went wrong was the slide stop was halfway out of the frame. Other than that, all looked normal. So here is the picture of the case below. I load on a 550, and have had some issues lately so I suppose this shouldn't be a huge surprise, but the issues i was having was low FPS issues, not HIGH! In fact, these rounds were the same ones that i just shot the Ohio State match with, and none of them had any issues. The obvious answers are overcharge ( can't double charge N320 in 9mm, I may not have witnessed every single round and the powder in it, but i would have damn well noticed a round with powder spilling over the top ), or a bad case. Any thoughts? Also, one other factor....which I want to hear some thoughts on. It was 90 degrees at the range today when I was shooting. The bullets that I used, including this one below, were sitting in the sun for about 30 minutes prior to using. Yes, this may have been dumb, but I was teaching the girlfriend today how to shoot, so I was distracted. ( not blaming her...it was my own stupidity). Anyway, when I went to load some rounds in the magazine, they were so hot, it actually burned my fingers getting them in the mag. Is it possible that this could have caused the blow out??
  16. I had my first check a few weeks ago, and yes, all I could think about was Fletch. "Uhh..using the whole fist doc?"
  17. Staying with a buddy of mine from college, he's not a shooter. Just crashing at his house for the weekend. He lives in a neighborhood right around the corner from the Jewish Hospital on Galbraith/Kenwood
  18. 7:30am it is Bob. Someone refresh my memory...is there a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks on the way to the range? Coming from Montgomery. Last minute reschedule for me, shooting a local match tomorrow that wasn't on my radar until tonight, one last warm up before THE Ohio Sectional. Can't wait for the match. Not even dreading the 7 hour car ride.
  19. Last time I went for a cleaning at the dentist, I asked my hygienist if they ever throw away the picks/scrapers. Sure enough they do. So she saved some for me ( after a run through the autoclave ), and I picked them up this morning. Great tools for picking out the gunk and other build up especially around the extractor. My $5 set from Walmart finally broke a few weeks ago, so it was perfect timing. Free beats $5 any day!
  20. Most Level II and III matches do not have a high enough representation of GMs to truly be an accurate reflection for classification. Take a level II. L10 with 35 shooters and the highest class shooter is one A. If he wins he shoots 100% does that make him an M? How about the B class guy who finished up at 90%. Does that make him an A or even an M? Good point, however, what if you have a C shooter that beats all of the B's? ( lvl II or II ) If a C shooter beats one or two B's, I can see that, as has been mentioned before, a low b is very close to a high C. But what if you have a level III match, where there are 19 B shooters present, and the C Shooter beats them all. Should he not be bumped to B? I don't care how many GM's, M's, or A's are present, and how well they did. If you can beat 19 B Shooters and you're shooting C, you should be auto-bumped to B. ( FWIW, this is a real case scenario, it happened at the same match, two years in a row, and ironically enough, it was the same shooter both years).
  21. I'm more than a little surprised that Ghost didn't send a prototype to Amidon to clear this up before they marketed the holster. What good is a piece of competition equipment if it doesn't meet the criteria for the competition it's designed for? BB Because it's perfectly legal for IPSC Production. Ghost International is an Italian company. On their website, it states "It’s appropriate for sport shooting in the categories:· Single Stack, Production, Standard." When you see Production and Standard in the same sentence, that should make a person stop and figure out Which Production is being referred to, because as you may know, there are differences in the rules. Either way, I don't think it is a Race Holster. If the holster covers the gun up to the ejection port, it's not a race holster in my opinion, I don't care how it's attached to the belt ( provided it's less than 2" ). And no, that isn't in the rules, so i can't point to a rule to back that up, it's just my opinion. Should it be clarified in the rules? NO. And here's why. Eliminate the "no race holster" rule altogether. Just leave the 2" stipulation, let people run whatever they want. You think you're going to become a better shooter if you go out and buy a $150-180 CR Speed, or Ghost speed holster? Give it a try. I think you will have a lot of people going out and buying them if you changed the rule, and a lot of those same people will be sorry when they realize the holster is not the reason they are still a D, C, B, etc.
