  1. I just switched over to Froglube and bought an Air Compressor. I'm thinking my new cleaning regimen is going to be about two minutes! Blow it out, slap some CLP on it, back in business.
  2. I clean my gun before every match. My philosophy is that the gun will always run when it's clean. It's possible it will not if it's dirty. So why take the chance? I've got my cleaning procedure down to approx 5 minutes, so ti's not a big deal.
  3. Good stuff Scott! Thanks so much for checking and posting the pics. The first one looks like a dead ringer for mine! You shooting Saturday at Spartanburg?
  4. It was those damn workbench gremlins. Or possibly the Trunk Monkey?! Thanks Scott. Look forward to hearing if you have the same issues.
  5. Personally I pull the extractor completely out about every 5000 rounds and clean it thoroughly. However, I have a set of dental picks and clean out behind the extractor about every other time I shoot it. Takes a minute or two, and just helps make sure you don't have any issues. FWIW, Walmart sells a cheap dental pick set, but they are plastic and will eventually break. Mine did. What I did was the last time at the dentist, I asked my hygienist if they ever throw away the picks they use. Sure enough, they do. So after one last autoclave cleaning, she gave me a complete set. They will last a life time!
  6. yes, they are all individual mag pouches, so that would be legal for SS or Production, as long as the outside pouches are within 2", which you said they were. Good to go. This is the kind that won't be legal come 2013:
  7. LOL, thanks! That's what I wanted to hear!!
  8. Basic history, CZ SP01, has around 24000 rounds through it. Mostly my reloads, 4.3gns N320, using 124FMJ. On Sunday I bought a Ultrasonic Cleaner, and cleaned the hell out of it. Then applied Froglube ( this is new experience for me, have used regular CLP until now ). Figured I would see if Froglube is as good as everyone says. Anyway, at the range today, I noticed what I thought was strange. See pic #1. I noticed that the case is very visible while the gun is in battery. Is this normal, and I've just never noticed it, or is there a problem? The second issue is the barrel. After I saw what I am pointing out above, I strip the gun at the range making sure it looked like the barrel was fully seating, and it looked like it was. But then I noticed what looks like scrapes on the top right of the chamber. I can't tell if this just happened, or if its just normal wear. I'm wondering if the sonic cleaner cleaned it so well that it looks like it's new. Does anyone with a SP01 or Shadow with a high round count have any marks that look like these? ( Squirrels? how about you?) Anyway, can't tell if I'm being a Nervous Nelly, or this is just normal wear. It ruined the rest of my practice session, so I'm hoping someone will put my mind at ease that this is normal wear. Thanks.
  9. They are probably talking about the ruling from the Dec 2011 BOD meeting. Motion: Production and Single Stack Appendix will have the following added: Each magazine must be contained individually within the magazine pouch. Magazines may not be retained through magnetic means. Effective January 1, 2013 Moved: A4 Seconded A5 Passed However, I believe the mag pouch in your picture will be legal since all mags will have their own mag pouch. This rule change is more about the spring loaded mag pouch that contains all 4 or 5 mags, and the spring pushes the next mag into the front position when each mag is removed. ( did i describe that well enough? )
  10. No. There is an NROI ruling addressing this specifically. Scott is correct. This has been discussed a number of times in other threads. Instead of showing you those, I'll just link you to the NROI Ruling: http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-NROI-ruling-details.php?indx=46
  11. Couldn't agree more! If I'm in the safe area and someone points a gun at me, there is a good chance they'll get my size 15 cleat up their ass. The thought of having to pull out a clown shoe covered in spikes would be enough to deter anyone!
  12. Couldn't agree more! If I'm in the safe area and someone points a gun at me, there is a good chance they'll get my size 15 cleat up their ass.
  13. Get rid of the words "significant advantage" entirely and make it one procedural per shot, no matter what. Fault lines are there to delineate the shooting area. If you cannot stay in the area, you should be penalized for every shot taken while faulting.
  14. I just checked my SP01. Hammer fully down - 6.75# Hammer @ half cock - 6.25#
  15. I have both the Sordins and the EAR custom plugs. I brought them to my ENT doc last year and he said either would work just fine. He preferred I wear both, but either by themselves were sufficient to prevent hearing loss. BTW, he is a shooter himself, so I really trusted his judgement. As far as preference, I soley wear the custom plugs because in SC, the summers are hot and the muffs just get too damn hot. The only time i double up is when I RO Open shooters. The Sordins are great. Yes, they are expensive, but if you get the gel pads, which are extra, they are very comfortable, and you can hear a mouse fart in the next bay. Also good to make sure no one is talking about you behind your back!
  16. If it was a sticker on the slide, then I would say not legal per production rules. Clearly not a competitive advantage, but one could argue that you can't put grip tape on the slide, so you probably can't put any form of sticker on the slide, even if it just had your name on it. If it was a name written within the finish on the slide then yes, that would be legal. Check out Corey Estill's production guns. Bad ass Cerakote finish with graphics on them. They are legal because its the finish, not just a sticker.
  17. I pissed and moaned about that PITA stage prior to the match and right up until I shot it. I then shot it clean! I supposed I was riding high and pretty full of myself going into stage 5 because I FTE'd that wide open target between the two poppers on the last array! I'm blaming it on the shoddy RO! Overall though, my best finish ever. 11th overall in Production, 2nd B. ( damn FTE cost me first B! ) Thanks to Peter Oliver and the rest of the RO's and staff for putting on a great match.
  18. Does not apply in this example. Matt's example is a clear case of 10.5.5 and should be called a DQ in every instance, including Level 1. This is no different than sweeping your hand when opening a port, or opening a door, or on an unloaded start where the gun and magazines are on a table, and you set your gun down, then place a magazine in a strategic spot, in front of the muzzle. You have swept yourself in all of these examples, and should be DQ'd. FWIW, my routine at Make Ready and ULSC/ICHDH is to put my support hand on my chest when holstering so there is no chance I sweep my hand.
  19. Are you able to use Win Primers, or do you only shoot Federals?
  20. I use the CGW TRS and have gotten the same result. I recommend it. +1 !! I was going to add the same thing. CGW hammer not production legal.
  21. next time try http://www.onlineconversion.com/length_common.htm or just do a google search on "millimeter to inches" and the first thing that pops up is a tool right in the search results.( by the way, this works for any conversion: cups to ounces, tablespoon to teaspoon, etc )
