  1. If none of those tips work, for difficult primers I find that chamfering the primer pocket will do the trick sometimes. It acts as a funnel, or mag chute for the primer.
  2. I was thinking mineral spirits may be used instead?

Man that really sucks! What gets me is that you can never catch them in the act! And of course, no witnesses.
  4. I've had the Otter box, but it did not hold to the daily wear and tear of the holster and tabs and buttons for usage The LifeProof Rocks! Plus it is slimmer and trimmer. I try to be careful, but accidents happen, that's Life. Mine has done as advertised. Only, inconvenience is you need special charging adaptors and longer audio jack, but it comes with one. Worth the money!
  5. Or drive business away! I don't think I would shoot there based on principle and their arrogance.
  6. 30 yrs is a pretty good testimony. Besides squeezing your money's worth out of it.
  7. I'm glad I have mine on my 1050's. Now, I just don't listen for the buzzer, I keep my eye on the notch in the rod on every throw as well. This way I know exactly what's going on.
  8. I have always used the Dillon Roller on my 1050's. About a yr ago I put an Inline on one of them. I stand while loading due to 3 bulged discs in my lower back. Sitting is my enemy. I thought that reaching further forward would be better than pulling further down. There is no free lunch. You have to go through the range of motion one way or another. Since I recently had everything done to my Rt shoulder with surgery, the reach forward is fine. Is the Inline better? Hard to say, it's just different. If you have shoulder issues, I would not get it, unless stretching forward is good for you. I did not vote, the choices did not apply. I do plan on buying an Inline for my 550. Just don't know which one (short or long). And I've had the Dillon roller over 20 years.
  9. I was drinking the Blue Koolaid when you had to add sugar to the mix
  10. I believe all Dillon machines are capable of producing the same quality ammo. It is more the operator than anything else. I have seen both of these statements supported by results and incidents at matches. As I'm sure many others have seen this as well. (Let's not make a big deal out of the swaging operation of the 1050, we can argue that with the Super Swage 600; or the extra stations, you don't HAVE TO have them.)
  11. Once you've experienced bullet set back and have had a pressures spike that blows yours grips off and apart and blows your mag out the mag well and apart, while stinging the fire out of your hands; and being fortunate not to ruin a $2500 gun and your body- for me--to heck with this noise about just removing the flare!! After my experience years ago, my crimp test is this: Press the nose of the bullet against the edge of the workbench and forcefully press against the base of the cartridge with your palm. If the bullet doesn't move, your crimp is fine. If the bullet moves, put more crimp on it. Simple as that. This method has served me well for the past 20+ yrs.
  12. 2/1050's, 550, Spolar Gold , Ponsness Warren 800 B, Handful of Hollywood Turrets, as well as others, and many Single Stages. I don't like to change out dies.
  13. Smart! Ol dummy me would not have thought of that.
  14. Aluminum Roller was a sweet move. However I believe an Ergo will be sweeter when I switch again.
  15. Those pesky things can be a pain. I wish they were attached a better way.
  16. I was impressed with how quiet mine is. Now I fill mine up almost up to to the water line after I put the pins in first. Maybe this does not allow much slamming around. Brass comes out shiny!
  17. There's some confusion here about Turret presses. And rightly so. Even in the name in one case. Let me explain. First off, Dillon presses are progressives, two types, manual (550), and self indexing, the rest. Lee Turret presses are really semi-progressive progressive presses,or a self indexing turret. Because they are self indexing. Now they can be be run one station at a time like a single stage if desired. When the OP gave examples of Turret presses, he was talking about Manual Turret presses. These presses are usually desired by precision rifleman as well as pistol loaders. While you can do batch loading as on a single stage press, these presses are not slow, nor are they just a convenient die storage system. To load, the casing stays put, and you manually rotate the dies to the shell casing. Priming can be done as well. Most precision guys elect to hand prime though. One can coast at 150 rounds per hour or crank it up to 250, for pistol that is. For precision rifle, whose counting, right? Soo.., when a reloader brings up the topic of a Redding T-7 , he has his choices narrowed down and knows his press classifications. You are sure to be spinning your wheels trying to convince him buy a different class. Hope this helps
  18. That happened to mine after 20 yrs. When I called it in, they said they would send me the part for free... or if I sent the press in, they would go ahead and ahead and do a rebuild for free. Guess which door I picked Monte?
  19. How do you Swage on a 550? Are you talking about using a primer pocket die swager from CH or Herters?
  20. How dangerous is an inverted primer? For me, no problem. First of all, I do wear safety glasses. I just pull the bullet, dump the powder, and very gently press the primer out with my decapper. Never had one go bang during this process in probably 50+ Rounds over the years. I even reuse the primer for practice ammo and they have always worked.
  21. My experience with dry spray lube and guns is that the lube does not last very long. Obviously the stressors or lack there of is quite a bit less on a press vs a gun. But something to keep in mind. FWIW, my 550 is still running very smooth on 30 wt motor oil as recommended for almost 30 yrs now.
  22. I had to put most of my reloading equip in a storage unit for a yr. If it wasn't wrapped up in a trunk it rusted. Unfortunately, my 1050 's were Not in a Trunk! As well as my Spolar and PW shot Shell Presses. Made me sick !
