  1. Welcome to the forum LB. And congrats on your on your 650! You are off to a great start,
  2. Howdy TTO, welcome to the forum. Some think that if you like the gun you will practice more and put more in to it, and thus progress faster. Not necessarily. If the gun doesn't fit you, it can be just plain hard to overcome And then of course some 1911 Fanboys (which I are one) would say you will have no prob at with this wonder gun.. If the grip angle works for you, that's most of the battle. If the sights and trigger are workable, then it's all on you, And from what you say, 500 rounds a month sounds good, I would say with good concentration, it should not take you long. Good Luck
  3. I wasn't trashing Winchester primers. I know guys that have been using them since the dawn of age without a hickup. But you how we competition shooters are, if we shot our best match ever chewing cinamon gum, then by golly, we start chewing cinamon gum at every match and freak out if we leave it at home.
  4. Congrats OS! And welcome to the forum. As Steve said, if you can find someone to help you do it. You will be so AHEad of the curve. And the right guy would love to help you.
  5. Congrats SD! sounds like you have it down. 650? what 650?
  6. I had the same concern but went with the 1050, my first one. Best move I ever made. Kicked myself for doing it 10 years or more earlier. I have averaged 30k rounds a year for 10 years without a singe problem. Man, mine doesn't need a no BS warranty and for ME just way out performs any 650. I even bought a second 1050 and Will buy a third.
  7. Welcome to the forum. I absolutely Love San Diego. Most of my family is there. I just can't afford it.
  8. I agree totally totally that you can learn on a Dillon 650 no problem. However, beware if you mention this to some old guys in person or on other forums. Most have the attitude, that you MUST pay your dues with a Single Stage Press, which is total BS. Why waste your time messing around, get what you NEED. Call Brian.
  9. I have found this to be the case as well when I tried my Outers Foul Out III. on numerous old 22's of mine- no leading! I was very surprised.
  10. Wow, that's quite a jump in this economy. That stings. Thanks for the heads up BEM
  11. If you make any bullets and send me one I can do a hardness test for you and we can have an idea of alloy content. If you don't have the capability of making bullets yet, you send me a chunk about the size of a large bullet and I will try to test it for you.
  12. Yes, I know guys that are too cheap to buy case checker gauges and use their cylinders. But on the other hand, maybe it is not cheapness; they KNOW that the ammo will work in their guns.
  13. I have been burned twice before, in two different matches about 7 years ago with Win primers. That's when I switched to Federal Match. Never had a problem since.
  14. Cundiff- it sounds to me like you have thought this out pretty well. I would call Brian and support him. Besides, from what I have heard, I believe your shipping may be free. And on a 1050, that is pretty stout. Good Luck
  15. I just had RC and bone spur done. But problem is after surgery the shoulder froze up. Now we have to bust up all the scar tissue to get range of motion. Very painful. Now I'm sick, can't go to PT for a few weeks. Will try to do what I can at home. Have no idea when I can shoot now.
  16. Agreed, however, it will help your game if you already know how to "do it". I would wager, many in the Super Squad do it before each stage. Whether they will admit it or not is another question. To add : did I get off base? I went into visualization before shooting a stage, not for dryfire practice- sorry.
  17. I notice that it is ME struggling with the wind.
  18. My first thought when I saw the primers in the case was the the shell plate was out of adjustment. Then i read that you installed the Technique Bearing kit. I would pull that bearing kit and see if you can get things to work with a stock machine first. And THEN consider add ons. Just my veiw from the saddle.
  19. Welcome from me as well. I will echo the Dillon sentiments as well as Brian.
  20. Smart decision If you want to spend more time at the range and get your sleep than fiddeling at the Bench, Dillon is the best way to go.
  21. When that does not do it. I get a good flashlight like a Surefire and get my face right into the primer area and ram and such. Start working the action slow. Be patient. Sure enough, I will find a primer or just a small piece of primer Anvil caught on the primer punch or in the ram, under the shell plate, or empty "slide". I mean just enough to screw up the works. The key is be patient and look slowly. Good Luck
  22. Lawyers just THINK that run the world.
  23. As you can gather, that's the least of your worries.
