  1. Now that ICORE has changed the rules to allow modified barrels in limited division, I would love to take one of my 686+ 6" barrels and cut the barrel underlug back at a taper like the 627 barrel. That would give me increased sight radius for accuracy at 50 yards and a lighter barrel to eliminate the barrel heavy feeling it has now. That should be the perfect combo in my mind, but I haven't tried it yet.
  2. I replaced the stainless cylinder on my 627 with a Ti cylinder when the SS one began to skip. The Ti cylinder lasted a year or so before it started skipping too. Since then I have had the cylinder stop replaced, the grooves in the cylinder worked on, and even the timing changed, but it still skips. The latest diagnosis is that the hole in the breach face where the cylinder locks up is oblong. Anyone else have this issue?
  3. That is really good news! I'll be asking my boss for those days off work right away.
  4. I started 3 gun with a lightweight barrel, but switched this year to an M4 profile barrel. I only notice the weight difference before the buzzer goes off. I have watched video of both rifles, and with the JM comp, neither barrel rises much. I do think that the light barrel is easier to swing around a fast, "room clearing" stage, but I don't notice any difference for the long shots. Adrenaline is a good equalizer for me, I guess.
  5. Do both! Hard cases suck to shoot a match out of but work great when traveling by air to a match. Here is a Patriot Hard Case setup for a soft bag up in the lid and 3 guns down below with a few mags and such. Best setup I've seen yet. Wow, that looks nicer than my Starlite! That way you could use the hardcase for transport and switch to the soft case for the match until you get a tacti-stroller!
  6. How much does it cost per round to reload 500? I cannot imagine shooting a whole match with one. I have a bad enough flinch now. lol
  7. I quit using 231 because it made my cylinder so dirty. I love Clays because it burns cleaner in my gun.
  8. I have not seen it yet. How closely did it stick to the novel?
  9. ? Velocity? Weight? Sight radius? Won't stabilize bullets? These are for shooting Minor, right...so guessing the velocity and weight wouldn't be much of an issue? I would say that the sight radius is the problem with the 4". ICORE and USPSA have some demanding shots that require a little more precision. In IDPA, a 1" barrel would be fine. LOL
  10. Those look cool, but I don't want to have to modify all my mags if I can avoid it.
  11. Mine work well. I haven't had any problems with the feed lips. I did have a weird thing happen with my SGM mag at a night 3-gun match, however. The rounds would bind up on the side of the mag. I think the mag got cold, and the sides warped in making it too narrow. Has anyone else experienced that?
  12. I have an unconverted Saiga 12 with an ugly welded on "bullet button" box that covers the mag release to make it legal in CA. Right now I'm poking a drill bit through the hole drilled in the box to make mag changes. Without laughing too hard, does anyone have any suggestions for a part or mechanism that will allow faster mag changes and still be CA legal. (I have to use a "tool" to remove the mag.) Thanks, Chris
  13. Thank you for having such great customer service, BBI!
  14. I am definitely more accurate with my 627, and I really enjoy beating semi-autos!
  15. Go with the 627. Then you can shoot it in USPSA and ICORE too! Many times, the stages in USPSA are unfriendly to a 6-shot revolver, but an 8-shot is perfect!
  16. Mine was doing the same thing, and I had all those things done: preened the cylinder, installed a new cylinder stop, changed the timing, etc. it still does it. It turned out to be the bushing in the breech face where the cylinder pin locks up. It was oblong.
  17. I had the finger grooves taken off mine too.
  18. The Hogue Big Butt grips are perfect for the 627. I had mine custom fit for my hand.
  19. Kirby, beautiful work. I wish S&W would make one in .327!
  20. Yes, now I can toy with the idea of having a 6 1/2 " barrel made for my 627!
  21. I think that the Board intended for the rimfire division to become effective after the last regional, or postal in this case.
  22. Good job, Stillwater Firearms Association! This match was as fun as last years was: good stages, good ROs, and good food. Thank you for taking it on again. We look forward to shooting the Northwest Regional there next year!
  23. Thank you, Chris, for doing the work to submit a rule change proposal. I have been in favor of this idea for a long time, but I never got around to doing anything about it. I first became interested in this idea when I wanted to taper the underlug on my 686+ 6" barrel to improve the balance and add a little coolness to the looks. I look forward to seeing some cool new ideas in limited designs. Chris Sallee
  24. I think you are right. the rule book has little to say about "no shoot" targets. "5. No‑shoots are targets that are indicated as a non‑engageable target. Only full bullet diameter hits will count as a penalty. (21 Jan 13)" It doesn't specify what kind of target can be used.
