There are plenty of them. Think outside of the "follow the leader" box.

Yup. Gotta agree. High round counts, no concealment, and no tactical dogma or trappings is what got me coming to USPSA matches in the first place. Lots of IDPA clubs out there for what you are describing. Let this one die before it gets heated and gets closed by the mods. So much history already here on the forum on similar subjects.

Well said. I have spent years doing it, so I always cut the ROs some slack.

I don't think the holes help as much as they hinder due to noise and blast. Lots of threads here in the archives with detailed discussions concerning ports. Do some reading.

Brine It
larry cazes replied to benos's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
I brine pork loin roasts overnight in a mix to taste of water, lime juice and zest, garlic, salt of course, honey, and chilis. This can go 10-12 hours no problem. I like them best seared on a very hot grill and finished indirect. I sometime add mesquite to the grill if I have time to mess with it. -
...And about twenty single socks

yeah it wasn't a police trade in although it could have been. I bought it at a pawn shop, the inside of the gun was filled with lint, and looked horrible, but when I cleaned it up, i doubt 200rounds were fired through it. Yup. Sounds like a typical California LE weapon

It may actually have an effect on the longevity of the sight. Since there are electromechanical contacts in various parts of the scope and everything has mass, orientation may play a role in how recoil is tolerated. If Cmore intended for the scope to be mounted in one particular orientation then they probably did not do reliability testing in others. Back in the days of the TASCO PDPs the orientation of the scope impacted the wear characteristics of the contacts that were mounted below the battery in the same compartment. I use Aimpoints so I have zero experience with Cmores but in my 15 years of experience in design engineering this kind of issue was not uncommon.

These are great little guns. I would shoot it a bit before doing anything to it.

Would you wait for your gun to start failing before oiling or cleaning it? Preventative maintenance is a mindset and it extends to the whole gun. On my competition guns I change mine when I change out springs. Mine show imprints right away but the wear has never progressed to the point of causing a malfunction. I also trim mine smaller than the guide rod head all around when I install them.

Get used to it. My Brother is an OB/GYN and his life is nothing but 24 hour on call. I am sure it beats driving a truck, though

I have been using the 124 and 115 grain MG JHPs for years in various open guns with zero feed issues. The HP profile on these should not cause any feed issues. I did try a case of the 124 CMJs and the JHPs were quite a bit more accurate.

Case Pro for 9mm open?

Are you saying there is zero correlation between chamber pressure and casing lifetime? Elaborate please. -
Advice on a new scale - take the poll
larry cazes replied to Fullauto_Shooter's topic in General Reloading
This may have been true 12 years ago but is not anymore. I went through two in the space of one year and gave up on them. Even when they were new the basic accuracy was poor and repeatability was dismal. Three years ago I bought one of the Uniqetek scales and it has been rock solid. Every time I sit down to reload I check my powder throws first and the Uniqetek has never given me reason to doubt the results -
ANY gun with holes in the barrel is punishing when I am running the clock as well as shooting. I have gotten rid of them on all of our open guns for this reason. The V12's are particularly unpleasant. I remember a stage at Area2 4-5 few years back where all of the shots were from a crouched stance within the confines of a tight fully enclosed maze with windows. My gun had popple holes at the time and the blast was so bad I had a headache for the whole rest of the day. I believe Matt Burkett figured out how to shoot a lot of this stage from outside the enclosure.....Smart but I think he had to reshoot anyway

Yes. Families are at a slight discount from single members.

Bill, your not the only one thats perplexed over the continued demand for these.

I hate crickets....The noise is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. Get a cat. They seem to love chasing and eating these little critters. When we had a cat, we didnt see many crickets but we did see random parts as aftermath. Apparently she did not like the legs.

Why will I be unhappy with a Para P16?
larry cazes replied to ZoomZoom's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Gotta disagree. That would be true if there was not a huge tendency to "follow the leader" in this and any other organized sport. -

larry cazes replied to ZoomZoom's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I started in this sport with a Para P14 in limited 10. Great gun for that division. I would feel comfortable with a P16 for limited as long as you have a supply of reliable mags, preferably STI for Para. I found the mags needed a lot of maintenance. Other than that it is a great platform to build on. I added a Dawson magwell and an Aftec extractor and it still runs reliably. Still have my P14 and it still gets shot quite a bit. -
If brass were free, what open pistol caliber would you choose?
larry cazes replied to GrumpyOne's topic in Open Pistols
Yeah, for about the last year or so, there have been periods where Starline and Angus were both out. At one point, nobody I'm aware of had any, but about two weeks later, it showed up. Worst case, someone might have had to wait a month, from what I can tell. I just try to keep enough to get me through 6mos+ and it's not an issue. R, Hmm. Must have been those damn hoarders again I made a "pre Obama" buy on components myself. -

LOL....yeah, it is a cool word. It's really only been the last year or so that SC was harder to come by; before that it was almost always in stock, or so it seemed. My Super won't run SC and my SC guns won't run super, but that's just an easy extractor swap if you want to switch. I didnt realise supply has been sketchy at all. I have been able to get it from both Starline and Angus at will for more than 7 years without fail. -
Hmmm. If they are doing the same as VHIT did, they are hurting their business by forcing consumers to go to other suppliers. I dumped Vhit powders after they had their "supply issues" years ago.
