  1. Doc, I have a few single stacks with extended king's that have been shaved a bit so that they work for my wife. She doesnt seem to have ANY problems with them locking back prematurely. I am a "swim upstream" kinda guy. Any time the "experts" say that a part or technique is bad JuJu it peaks my interest a bit to try it
  2. That is the point, though. Is it practical to suggest that we should engage in any situation without thinking things through and taking the most efficient course of action? Using your head IS practical. In the real world there is no stage description.
  3. I agree with Bart. I load to 173pf minimum and I still chrono 167 at times at majors. As I have stated many times before, I believe a significant buffer is necessary.
  4. I play the game the same way regardless of whether the match is a local or a major match. Your question concerning "proving something" by shooting a stage in the best way possible is interesting and disturbing at the same time. I shoot because I enjoy it and NOT because I have anything to prove. I avoid matches where I know this is gonna be an issue. I don't want to have to change my game plan to preserve the ego of the stage designers.
  5. Some of our local clubs REQUIRE members to put in a certain amount of work hours. I think this is the best policy. This is another example of the good old 10% rule that applies to every volunteer organzation I have ever been part of.....10% of the members do 90% of the work.
  6. I love stages like this This is what makes the sport fun for a lot of us.
  7. All trigger time is enjoyable for me Don't like WHO/SHO? You must need more practice.
  8. Is that rust on the front of it?
  9. Well said. No FTDR/Forbidden Action needed here. Never liked that concept. This is a thinking man's sport. Don't denigrate someone for coming up with a better solution to the problem than you did.
  10. Completely wrong in my experience could you please elaborate on this one a little bid Well, my experience is quite different that yours. In fact, just the opposite. I find aimpoints to be quite robust, more so than ANY of the other dots including the Cmore and Docter. I personally have never seen a Tasco PDP3 last more than 3K rounds on any of my open guns. I went through 4 before giving up on them.
  11. Assembling the tube into a complete > 10 round magazine may very well be a felony under CA law if you care about that sort of thing Give it a rest, Rob. Magazine laws are way beyond the scope of the original thread. Lots of folks here use the plugged mags from either barsto or STI and it is perfectly legal.
  12. Completely wrong in my experience Tasco's are much LESS reliable than the Aimpoint
  13. So...Windows 7 is just an upgrade and not a new OS? It is a new OS.. it's just upgrading the OS. Windows 7 is actually: Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600] lol - who knows where they get these release names from. Depending on the Windows 7 disk you have.. you may be able to do a fresh install. and there's different degrees of that. You can format the whole drive and start from scratch or just write the new OS onto the drive.. it depends on how many of the programs and settings you want to reinstall. I used to always back up my files, and format the drive, I liked starting fresh. This time (to Windows 7), I didn't have some of the install disks that came with my new HP desktop, so I had it upgrade Vista. Dave, how does the new version look so far?
  14. FFL transfer fees are capped by law in this state. Most charge around $50. Are you certain there is no such law in your state?
  15. $3500 is way overpriced even for here. Do not let yourself be gouged by the unscrupulous among us. I have owned multiple STI based limited guns and paid around $2000 or less for each. Put the word out through your shooting buddies and be patient. I would also look for a bare frame that is in state and have someone like Dan Bedell build one to your specs. There are lots of legal frames floating around if you know the right folks to ask. I also would feel confident buying a Barsto if that is your preference. Finally if none of these options are viable talk to the folks at SV. They have a limited gun configuration that is approved for sale by the state. Certainly not the cheapest route, though.
  16. Logged in here for the first time under my original username which is now gone more than 6 years ago when it was a relatively small world. Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who volunteers their time here and puts up with all of our BS
  17. I second Jesse's recommendation for the Larue mount. I also have a TR21 on a JP and this was the only mount I could find that would allow enough Eye Relief. By the way, the build quality on this thing is top notch and well worth the money.
  18. Their pricing on the website includes shipping. Great folks to deal with and they support our sport as well.
  19. Man I love habaneros and those look great. We went to a texmex place here in san jose and they had a fiery hot habanero mango salsa that was delicious. Is the sauce vinegar based?
  20. New? Starline has top notch products, 10mm included.
  21. In a sport where time is measured in 1/100 seconds, any distraction is unwelcome. Gotta agree with ChuckS. Especially pertinent if the distraction serves ZERO purpose. Once again, Either a rule was broken or it wasn't. If it was broken, make the ruling. If it wasn't why say anything? This has been debated to death here. Maybe to prevent someone from breaking a rule like sweeping the audience? Not likely. You can't possibly know that is gonna happen before it does. Most locals and every area match I have shot in the last 8 years have targets that could be considered close to breaking 180 when engaged so we all play very close to the edge. What standard do you use for determining what is close enough to call out? What standard do you use for calling out "finger" ? It is either out of the trigger guard when the rules say it needs to be or it's a DQ, period. I don't presume to know the mind of the competitor when I am RO'ing, I am just tasked with enforcing the rules.....That is a very slippery slope. Sorry I don't buy it

  23. Been using that description for years with UPS, Fedex, and USPS. Never a raised eyebrow or question.
  24. In my experience it depends on the dimensions of the cast parts in your measures. I have one measure that had a slide that was a tad short top to bottom. That particular measure had major problems dispensing Silhouette which is pretty fine. The powder grains got caught between the slide and the body of the measure. Replaced the slide with another and that issue went away.
