  1. That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard in 30 years of long range shooting. I hope you disregard this nonsense!
  2. Still satisfied with the rifle and folding stock after 2 years?
  3. You have my heartfelt condolences. I will be facing the same thing sooner than I would like. I will tell you this " The best place to bury a dog is in your heart, they always remain there" You might want to read this someday. http://www.rescuepledge.org/a-dogs-last-will-and-testament/ Best Regards Brad
  4. So it appears that we agree that the call for bag or unbag should be given only by the RM. And it seems that we also agree that even following that method there are going to be some competitiors that may not have to shoot any bagged targets while others may shoot several stages bagged. Although it wasn't stated I believe that no one likes to shoot, score, or paste bagged targets even though it is going to happen to everyone eventually if you shoot many matches. I guess I will continue following the rules and will bag or unbag as dictated by the RM in order to keep it as consistent as humanly possible. Mildot
  5. The way I understand this is. The Range Master tells when to bag targets and when to unbag. It is NOT up to the stage RO's to make the decision. I have seen this come up at several matchs where a squad on one bay was shooting bagged targets and the next bay were not. I expect to hear the order to bag or unbag come over the radio or personally informed by Range Master. I don't think that anyone likes to shoot bagged targets but the amount of time they are bagged should be consistent across the board. If you have to you have to but why when the adjacent stages are not? Am I right or wrong? Mildot
  6. Does any one remember the guys name who advertised in front sight that made extended caspian and AR mags? Any help would be appreciated! Mildot
  7. Recently had a similar situation at a state match. WSB stated: Start position was anywhere inside the fault lines. Ro's tried to enforce that entire foot must on the ground. Some tried to start with heels on fault line and were refused. I attempted to start with ball of left foot on fault line and was told I could not. My argument was if I am legal to engage a target from here I am legal to start from here and you cannot make up requirements that are not in the WSB. If a specific start position was wanted it should have been specified in WSB. I got started the way I wanted. Mildot
  8. Used a ghost for five years and loved it. Unfortunately it was starting to eat the trigger guard on my plastic 2011 grip. Now using the DAA magnetic, would not go back! I have had several conversations with Saul Kirsch over the years, including one where I kinda ripped his ass for a problem that was not his doing. He remained polite and helpful in rectifying a problem caused by a USA supplier. DAA is tops in my book Mildot1
  9. I always like to set targets so the stakes are hidden but 9.1.7 states that they are niether hard or soft cover and all shots passing thru them count for score or penalty. FWIW Mildot

    Muck Boots

They simply SUCK! Have two pair and the soles are coming off both, worn very little. How is it that I can wear Lacross till the soles are as thin as paper but never leak. The bitch is getting them on and off. I have a couple pair here that are almost 15 years old and still good to go! So much for listening to others about the new stuff. Mildot
  11. I saw it at a major IDPA match. Even the shooter's clubmates thought it was a bad idea. I think many of us are too lenient at our local club matches. I've seen a couple pretty blatant 180 violations that the RO wasn't in a position to see because we just don't take it as seriously as RO-ing at a major match. This is something I would like to change locally. It's bad enough for someone to get away with it and then get dq'd at a major, but there are worse things that can happen too. I see this more than I would ever want to! A level one match is still run under the same rules as any USPSA match. Yes there are some exemptions but the rules on safety and gear are the same. Some RO's need to change their attitude because they are not doing the new shooters any favors by letting them slide when they should have been DQ'd. At a match a couple years ago I saw a NEW shooter pull his pistol out of bag under the pavillon at the signup area and was yelling stop until I got him under control and the area safe. Another RO there said I was to rough on him because this was a level one match, I asked if it hurt less to get shot a a level one compared to a level two match? Do we or should we let some things slide at a level one? Yes a new shooter shows up wanting to try the game and maybe his equipment is not the best for the game but is still safe and covers the trigger guard while holstered. Would I let him tuck away mag pouch flaps or a retaining strap on his holster, yes if I thought he could negotiate the course safely. I would rather have them thinking about shooting safely rather than worrying about getting a mag out. Most new shooters are not members anyway and are shooting for no score, I will tell them what they are going to have to change before the next match but I don't want to run off a potential shooter over a equipment issue on the first match they shoot.
  12. The defintition of a drawn gun is as soon as I can see the trigger, do it while facing uprange and I will DQ you. So if you are facing downrange and draw to the point I can see the trigger and sweep the safety off the gun is drawn and no longer under the provisions of a holstered gun. How in the world could I issue a DQ? You however assume the responsibility for a AD if you do it. Mildot
  13. Just to keep it going. 4.1.4.1 "Cover provided to hide all or a portion of a target will be considered hard cover". Yes it goes on to say it "should not be simulated" But should does not mean "will". Is the shooter aiming thru the wall or just moving? If aiming, theory is out the window and the shooter is aiming. If just moving to a shooting position with finger on the trigger, DQ. I don't know? So if there is a 30 foot space of ground I have to cover from accessible target to target, is it okay to keep my gun up and finger on the trigger as long as I can see the targets? Even though there is a wall between me and them?
  14. I have been stewing on this one all day, not sure which way to lean. So I will throw this out. We all agree that walls are hard cover, you can't shoot through them and "theoretically" we can't see through them. There are many uses of the word but I picked this one from websters for this instance. cov·erverb \ˈkə-vər\ : to put something over, on top of, or in front of (something else) especially in order to protect, hide, or close it So let me ask this. If you were the RO and the shooter was moving down a lane that had walls that prevented him from engaging the target and had his finger on the trigger? Would you issue a DQ under 10.5.10? See 8.5.1 which states "Except when actively aiming or shooting at a target's" I use this rule, if the shooter can see the target and is moving I consider him to be actively engaging the target because he can fire at any time. If the target is behind any wall" mesh, wood, or whatever and I observe him moving with finger on trigger I would stop the shooter. Using that line of thinking I am wondering why I would allow a shooter to shoot around a wall while actually sighting the firearm through the wall?????????? Open for debate Mildot
